  1. My 6 month old is exactly how you described samoyedman She eats, plays and sleeps...A LOT! When she's asleep, she's in grow mode and I'm quite happy with that. Puppies are babies who need to rest and get bigger. I think it's very normal behaviour. GG
  2. Oh how I wished my dogs WOULD bark. I just ducked down the road for a minute, which happened to be the EXACT minute my next door neighbour decided to drop back a container I'd given them some home made spaghetti in a few days ago.I'd left the house wide open. When we got back, he popped his head out the door to let me know that he'd dropped of the container. I asked if aforementioned dog had tried to chew his leg off, but he said, "No." and I thought, lovely neighbour that he is, doggy should have TRIED to be defensive of our house and home. Perhaps n.d.n is so lovely a person he didn't need to be concerned about puppy?
  3. For a second I thought you were suggesting peeing in the dogs bowl to claim it. My eldest boy marked the shoes of the show manager at 6 months old....when the show manager was still wearing them. Now that takes kahuna's in front of an audience. ;) :p :D ;) ;)
  4. It might be his nature to bark when barking is required for him to bark. Ari hardly barks at all, but when she does, it's a deep WOOOOF and you KNOW something ISN'T right. She's 5, almost 6 months old and I think she is just a lovely, laid back darlin who really doesn't care for barking unnecessarily Your little fella might be the same lovable oaf :D
  5. Noooo, a Christmas beetle is one of those bright irridesent (sp?) beetles that fly around. I haven't a clue what they are called except Christmas beetles. Did you grow up in Central Queensland??
  6. Maybe you should change the dogs name to P.pot ROFL, I am SO glad that my human babies don't do that ;)
  7. This thread kinda reminds me of Canine Survivor Island ;)
  8. Pax we've got NONE up here in Central Queensland, so they must have migrated south ;)
  9. A little OT, but the Anne's hubby being a fisherman made me remember the time that I was dental nursing and a man arrived at the surgery STINKING HORRIBLY of fish oil ;) He was a part time mechanic and apparently they sometimes use fish oil to loosen bolts or something Well, of COURSE this poor man had a horrendous toothache, but I nearly vomited I don't know HOW many times when we were working with him. THAT was THE most difficult time I'd ever had with a patient. I just WISHED he could have bathed before he arrived at his appointment :shakehead:
  10. THANKS!!!!! Wow, thankyou SO much for the warning!!!!!!!!!!
  11. I was looking at Ari's demodectin mange this morning and I wondered about rubbing garlic ON the infested sites? Opinions anyone??
  12. Oh well you do know that John the Baptist lived on Locusts and Honey ;) Maybe all you DOLers with those lovely little critters should be cooking up a storn :p
  13. I'm very interested in this thread. Ari has the same mange also.
  14. How do you feel when she growls? Scared?
  15. Perhaps it's a dominance thing? What type of growl is it? You've learnt your dogs language, so you're in the best position to know
  16. Are brisket bones ok for larger dogs? My Ari is a Wolfhound/Cattle dog cross, so I'm wondering.
  17. I maded contact with a breeder in Geelong, who feed that diet! They were very against feeding meat. That just doesn't make sense IMHO. WHY would you be against dogs eating meat? It's what their bodies were designed for
  18. Carla I'm so sorry. My last post must seem horribly insensitive I still grieve for Jamie who died about 9 weeks ago. It's devastating when such a valued member of your family dies I remember going outside in the backyard one night railing at God, shouting at Him with questions about how good can come of the death of my most beloved Jamie and then collapsing on the ground at her grave. Hubby came out and found me sobbing soon after. I still tear up whenever I think of my little Mookie being dead. Her death haunts me every time I leave the house, wondering which of our pets will be on the busy road dead like Jamie was. It's horrible and I hate it, but I am not going to let it beat me down. I have Ari now and I will love her and adore her with every ounce of my being, so that she knows how loved and appreciated she is. I know Jamie would love Ari, they would have been great mates You'll get through this, and if you need me to, I'll hold your hand and help you walk through this painful time. With love Faithie aka Golden Girl
  19. What a gorgeous thread Do you have any pics of her yet?? I'd love to see what she looks like. Rescue dogs are just so thankful for being rescued IMHO. GG
