Dry Food For Sensitive Stomachs
Bjelkier replied to poodle proud's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Be aware of the marrow in the bones (what kind of bones are you feeding), its highly fatty and can cause tummy upsets for some dogs. -
Hi Wolfsong, because the Polar Collars have a velcro fitting, if they ever got snagged on anything in the yard they would be pulled undone before the dog would come to any grief. Having said this many people are not comfortable leaving anything on their dogs when unsupervised. The Collar itself is safe regarding cooling etc. It will never chill the dog. So provided you are comfortable with the fit, then there is no reason why not if you are the type of person that would feel happy normally leaving a collar on your dog unsupervised. If there are multiple dogs involved in being left, then ensure one is not a chewer, particularly a collar chewer or it will chew the Polar Collar off the dog wearing it, and end up with the contents everywhere. It is non-toxic to ingest, but obviously better in the collar than in the dog's tummy. Many thanks Dyzney  Sounds like just what I am looking for, I will have to have a proper look at them tonight.

Are these safe to leave on dogs unsupervised? I would love to find something for my three while I am at work.

I can't see how it would be the Samoyed part of her any more then the Goldie side (and I have owned Goldies and do own sammies) and don't know why anyone would have told you that My little girl Sammie is just coming up to this age and isn't like that, neither was my boy at this age. (I say this age because he is an effing tool now when there is a bitch in season near him) How much training have you been doing with her so far? Both Goldies and Samoyed are highly intelligent breeds and need heaps of mental stimulation. Samoyed are very head strong and will not take being told what to do unless you have put in the ground work first. As any typical spitz breed they are more likely to ask you why when you tell them to do something. Definatly get her into obediance right away, its very important with such a x breed dog IMO

How Often Do You Change Your Clamshell Water?
Bjelkier replied to Pete.the.dog's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Mine dig all the water out as quickly as they can, so I am filling it up every day now -
I tried Mistral on RC and it made him very itchy too and his coat turned to straw, I'm still trying to get it right again. Swap brands. I went to Pro Plan but have since moved on to Nutro as I wanted something more natural, so far its been very good and the dogs love it.

Good energy levels, healthy skin, bright eyes a good coat (found out the hard way what some foods can do to a Samoyed coat ) good muscle tone and firm poo's.

Golden Retriever - To Clip Or Not To Clip?
Bjelkier replied to loulouB's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I had a Goldie when I lived in India, she was never clipped and is was a damn site hotter over there then it is here and she never had a problem. Personally I would never clip the dog. -
Feeding A Puppy Adult Dog Food
Bjelkier replied to RallyValley's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I don't have a large breed dog but my current Samoyed pup has been on adult food from the begining and it dosn't seem to be doing her any harm. She is a strong, happy, healthy pup. Personally I would be feeding whatever the breeder recommended, but I think Pro plan do a good chicken pup one and I am pretty sure they do a large breed one too that my MIL's Newf pup had without any hassles. -
Hi wolfsong Was that at a show in Canberra?? No down in Bribaree (SP?) But thats only a few hours from canberra
-
Chances are the pup will want the cat food and will eat it. Can you move it up somewhere high or in another room?

Thaks for the answers guys I met some stunning little Spitz at a show recently, a black boy and a sable girl, they just stole my heart! A great little breed
