I take photos for friends at shows or anyone who asks. Its great practise for me and I never ask for any money, I'm not professional and not nearly good enough in my mind to charge anyone. If you do charge I think telling the person upfront is the most honnest and I try to get photos out to people with 24 - 48 hours of the show but sometimes thats just not possible. Altheau I have had people come up and ask to take photos of my dogs. I think provide you ask the owner you shouldn't have an issue :p

Toys are definatly worth it. My pack have a huge basket of toys and I am forever buying new ones for them I have a Lab and two Sammies, they can be very destructive and the huge amounts of toys they have have saved my house!

Hi Hayley, welcome to DOL I have Samoyeds. I first saw a Sammie at a dog show sitting calmly ontop of his trolley collecting cuddles and kisses from everyone, I was totally amazed with this dog who had such power and grace and was such a people lover. We were after something active, friendly and a little bit of a challenge. I like grooming so the fluffy coat is a plus and how could I go past such a beautiful shining white dog! Nothing cuddles like a Sammie and they have the most entertaining personlities. They are a multi use dog, which gives me plenty of options in dog sports and activities, currently my older male is being trained for his obediance title and I am really thinking about getting him into agility, herding or sledding as well.

Do You Go Out Of Your Way To Give Your Dogs Alone Time?
Bjelkier replied to Bubitty's topic in General Dog Discussion
I dont really make an effort to seperate them but it happens on various occasions. They get fed, trained and groomed seperatly but thats about it. They are in kennels alone when I'm at work but they can see each other. All my dogs are accustomed to being alone if they have to be, I take different ones to shows and leave others behind, sometimes that dog left behind is alone, sometimes the one going is alone. I have lost dogs that have bonded closely, no issues there and other have spent time at vets, the other didn't panic. And yet they are always happy to have each other around when they are there -
My entire male has never had a fight with another male dog. He has played with many different breeds including Bullmastiff's, AKita's and Staffords. Never had an issue. I think it has a lot more to do with how the dog is trained and managed then if it's desexed or not.

My Lab was desexed after 12 months and he never mounts anything
-
I didnt get my Lab done until he was over 12 months old and Im glad I waited. I have had a vet tell me it was ok to get my Sammie done at 4 months (um hell no!), so I have to say Im not always going to agree with everything a vet says

Thats fantastic news

Maybe he thought it was. I was at a show recently with some friends of mine who breed Bullmastiff's and this guy came up to them with what one could only call a total heiz mutt and told them it was a Bullmastiff when asked. It was obvious the guy had been ripped off but he believed it was a BM.

Yeah that looks pretty dodgy.

Thats the fun with X breeds. You can have the same cross many times over and each dog could have a different coat colour, length, texture, they could be tall, others short.

Why Are Some Pups Sold Without Papers Altogether
Bjelkier replied to GardenofEden's topic in General Dog Discussion
Is it just me or does this sounds dodgy as hell? I would never purchase a dog without pedigree papers unless I was adopting from a shelter or rescue group. It seems to happen quite a fair bit where puppies that are sold as pets do not always come with limited reg. papers. Is it all that important? Yes it is. If a breeder is willing to break the rules in one way, then they probably will in others. And no matter what you believe, without papers supplied you can't KNOW the breeder is registered or that the pup is pedigree. May as well pay $50 for a mutt at the pound. It costs about $30 to register a dog (on the main or limit register) and so charging stupid amounts extra for papers is a con. Most likely it's a dodgy breeder who will convince you not to get papers with the high amount because they can't actually supply them. ML, it seems to be quite prevalent where reg. breeders sell pups without limited reg. papers. I am not fussed with that although I am surprised that it is law that they must supply limited reg. papers and yet opt not to do so. I do know for a fact that this breeder is indeed legitimate as he/she sent me photocopies of the pup's parents reg. papers. No problem with mutts, there are some beautiful mutts out there but I really wanted a CKCS. Another thing I have noticed is that pups with full reg. papers are always selling for an extra $100-$200. I have never come across a pup with full reg. papers selling for an extra $30 only. Thats not the case with a lot of breeders. I can honnestly say I don't know one breeder personally who sells their dogs for more because of certain kinds of papers. (But I don't know everyone so it might be more common then I am aware of) Further more they shouldn't be charging more for the papers in the first place -
Can't see any border collie except for the colouring but I do admit in not having any direct experience with IW. I am not sure of her height, never measured her but would guess that she may be between 18-20" tall, maybe? What do you mean by Wolfie dash? She sounds a little small for a wolfie, the standard asks for Bitches 71 cms (28 ins)

How Do You Walk Your Dog?
Bjelkier replied to KumaAkita's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I don't really care were they walk as long as they don't pull (my girl and Lab are both brilliant with this, my older male sammie is an ass but we are getting there), I like them to be slightly ahead of me so I can see what they are doing and don't trip on them.
