  1. Hmmm, posh dogs wanted and no Sammies? Oh well.
  2. Thanks Rysup, I've never done Castle Hill before, is it a hard show ground to get too? I would be coming from Canberra direction.
  3. 19th . . . . oh, I am so tempted to take Allie up to meet everyone but we might be moving house that weekend I wonder if I could get away with moving one day and visiting the next? Where is the show? Erskine?
  4. Lestat the Lab, no, he hates cold weather. He wears jackets but still feels the cold, he would much rather stay inside and sleep next to the heater. The Sammies, yes. They never stop in winter, Mistral is the worst, his energy levels go wild when its cold. I find myself outside a lot more in winter with him.
  5. The Lab is not the sharpest tool in the shed when it comes to problem solving. He stares at things a lot, apparently that makes everything work for him. The Sammies are clever, Alchemy is even more switched on then Mistral. Alchemy is a crack up. If she wants something Mistral has she will go somewhere and bark (she never barks unless she is distracting Misty or some one has shown up), Mistral thinks there is something amazing going on the races over to where she is. She keeps barking for a moment and waits until he starts up and then quietly sneaks away and grabs the toy. Misty has caught on to her game though and has started taking the toy with him when he hears her barking, puts it on the ground next to him, barks and keeps an eye on her at the same time. You can just see her trying to work out how to get him away from the toy now, I can't wait to see what she comes up with.
  6. oh, um, that's different . . . . .. I think my dogs are just fine, but the moment I feel the need to stick an air freasher on my dogs butt I will go right there. I can just see all the dogs at shows with their Rear Gear
  7. I know someone who had a bad time of it with a vet. Her pup had been playing in the yard and hurt its eye with a stick. She rushed it to the closest vet who said they had to remove the eye. She called us in a panic and I recommended she see someone else just incase. Personally I would want one myself for such if such an opp was suggest to me and the dogs eye wasn't hanging out or bleeding. Turns out the dogs eye was fine and it just needed time to heal and some cream, talk about a lucky save! I have since seen the dog and she is fine, you would never have known she hurt the eye at all.
  8. I have to be careful what I feed my Lab, he gets really gassy otherwise. So far he has been the best on Royal Canin and Nutro
  9. I don't think you need a large yard for the dogs to be happy provided they get enough exercise and mental stimulation elswhere. Having said that I am on 38 acres here and the dogs use a good deal of it. They love running around and exploring, playing with each other and so on.
  10. Aside from myself (only new, fist litter isn't until next year, NSW) there is Icemist (NSW) and Kelza (VIC), that's pretty much about it when it comes to the forums

  12. Alchemy sleeps on the end of the bed everynight from the moment she worked out how to jump up there and Mistral sleeps on his own bed next to my side of the bed (he gets a little warm on the bed but he always comes up for before bed and morning cuddles) I'm not sure which show it is that's on on the 19th, but there are a lot of Sammies in NSW so I will be surprised if there arn't any
  13. I leave a coat on my Lab most of the time threw winter, his joints get very stiff and sore if I don't. He's a destructive dog but he is yet to pull a coat off thankfully.
  14. That would be great!!!!! since it will take us awhile to plan a nsw spitz meet :D I should put it in the spitz breed thread! Was playing with Hazel this morning, and as usual, she was behaving her cheeky self, giving kisses and made me think: What are your dogs like with you for sammy, lappie and other keeshond owners? Not talking about trainability and sociability with people but the personality and response to the owner? My Sammies are all about the hugs and kisses with their owners. I show other peoples Sams on occasion and the difference is a Samoyed owned by someone else will happily give you a hug and a kiss, want to be with you ect: but as soon as their owner comes along they light up. A Samoyed bonds very closely to its family, I have found that they will pick on person to really stick to however and that one person is their world. Put it this way. If my boy Mistral is sick, he will not be happy with anyone being with him but me, if he is feeling down he wants me, I am always the first person to be given toys when he wants to play. Alchemy is pretty much the same, she even takes me to bed every night, makes sure I am comfortable by nesting the hell out of the bed and then wandering off when she thinks Im asleep. Both dogs show better for me then other people too.
  15. A NSW spitz person. Perhaps this may interest you: http://sydney.gumtree.com.au/c-Pets-dogs-p...QAdIdZ209414471 Dont worry, Shell is picking her up this afternoon
  16. Wow, awesome results guys!!!! Well done
  17. I have only met Harry in passing but I have a cute photo of him here somewhere from Bathurst last year...... Harry! (hope you don't mind Rysup)
  18. You're correct SSM, I don't usually rescue (although I have taken on rescues before) I offered for exactly the same reasons you foster Salukis.
  19. So I was given a wonderful new camera for my birthday and I thought I would add a few of the photos I have taken so far. Any hints and tips for taking better photos most welcome So far its all been on auto, Ive yet to have a good moment to sit and actually read the manual
  20. Well the offer is there if they need a place to go. As for grooming help, what are you currently trying to do with them? Which tools are you using?
  21. That's nice Flashsmum, great way for you to end the week
  22. That could very well be the case. I left Mistral for two weeks once and wow it took time. There was no matting or anything but it was harder then the ususal 10 - 15 min groom they usually get. Both mine have slightly different coats, Mistral's is longer and Allies is shorter but much thicker. He is harder to brush then she is. Allie is groomed less then Mistral, her coat simply dosn't need as much work (disclaimer, I have never left them without brushing for more then 3 weeks in Allie's case and I would never reccomend anyone leave their Samoyed without brushing, bad idea!)
  23. hahaha that's a good one! should I give point scoring system? It could work
