What I Love About Dog Showing
Bjelkier replied to SkySoaringMagpie's topic in General Dog Discussion
*Having something to look forward too on the weekends instead of sitting around on my butt *Seeing parts of the country I would never normally go to. *Spending time with my dogs *Retail therapy *Hanging out with our awesome friends and if we win or lose we have a fantastic time *Insane stories to tell people about later (ie Bermagui (SP?) *Seeing beautiful dogs I wouldn't normally own and giving them cuddles *Handling different breeds *Winning -
Down in the Utility Ring some friends of mine and I make sure we cheer and clap when one of us gets something. And yes we have been given mighty death stares before but who cares, we are happy for each other and will continue to make that known! Oh and what cheeses me off is cleaning the Samoyeds before a show, getting there and the place is either a dust bowl or a mud slide, all my hard work goes out thw window in a second.

I would be looking at an English Pointer We had one growing up and they are fantastic dogs! I would have another one in a hot second but they arnt my OH's thing sadly. Personally I don't think he knows what he's missing

I have an oversized (he's 24inches) Lab and he only weighs 30 kilo Lestat gets a cup in the morning and a cup at night, no snacks, no treats unless they come out of his dinner. Labs will eat themselves sick so you have to be tough with them. Cut the food in half and ignore those big brown eyes.

Nutro is great for my Samoyeds too Its been fantastic for my fussy eater and has been very helpfull keeping weight on my very active boy.

Mine is a custom job froma guy in Goulburn, it's light, strong and was made to fit my boot, so very handy. The other one I used a lot was a C Crate, heavy but strong
-
I still have nothing myself and it would seem most people in my area already have theirs

Hot Weather And Keeping Dogs Outside
Bjelkier replied to RoxyNHemi's topic in General Dog Discussion
While I was working they stayed outside in the dog runs. They had an insulated brick kennel each and heaps of shade and water. Never had any issues Now that I work from home they go where they want. Our yard is very shaded and we have a wonderful veranda that is always shaded so they love it outside but I do make sure they are inside over the hottest part of the day (this is more to save the Sammie's coats from getting burnt then anything else) -
Beautiful puppy and I love her pet name

Everyone's photos are fantastic! Remember entries close on the 29th. A few more from me Mistral Alchemy

How Do You Get A Prefix In Nsw
Bjelkier replied to redblazebordeaux's topic in General Dog Discussion
Wow that's a lot! I was lucky and got my first choice But I did do a lot of google searching of certain names before I submitted mine. -
Still nothing here. I think I've been forgotten

Finnish Spitz is a hunting breed. Judging by the one I've met, they certainly have a prediliction for roaming. oops I mean Finnish Lapphund Don't know what I was doing there
-
Seeing as both Samoyed's and Finnish Spitz are herding breeds you have a good chance of them chasing. And if you don't like grooming I would not suggest a Samoyed at all.

Facebook As A Dog Show Networking Tool

I didn't read it as a complaint, sorry if my reply came over that way. I know the type of thing you mean, and I think there is a difference between a newbie proud of their first ribbon and an old hand who regularly spams everyone. No no, it was me reading it wrong. I smashed my head on the fridge the other day and Ive been reading and writing things incorrectly since And what you say is very true to the point I was trying to make -
Facebook As A Dog Show Networking Tool

I got told early on never to qualify results by saying "only one there" but my own personal guideline is don't post it unless you beat someone to get it. I posted something recently where my boy was the only one entered in a particular property class, but I made that clear and whinged about the lack of competition I agree with you that you have to just move on to the next post. Apart from anything else, if it looks small minded to point it out - some people go with "how many were entered?" to say the same thing, but that also looks a bit small minded. Sorry if I made it sound like I was complaining about people winning.... Offcause no one should feel bad about being able to win even with small comp, hell a wins a win. My point simply was that on facebook you get it every day not just once or twice a month and those that do bignote themselves all the time, to the point of going over the top in some cases, do tend to rub some people up the wrong way and then you get the how many entered questions and such like..... -
Sounds like they could have been baited. Just becuase they dont bark dosnt mean some sicko out there didnt just do it for the sake of it. Other then that Im with Raz, check the vet report

Facebook As A Dog Show Networking Tool

I find it usefull as a means to keep in contact with showies overseas, see who's doing what and a great way to find dogs for future breeding programs (saves me all the effort of googling overseas breeders) There are a few people who like to big note themselves a lot but you learn who they are pretty fast. Person A goes on and on and on about how brilliant their dog is, it wins everything, itäs the best thing in the ring, it's a MBIG winning dog and it just got Jr in Group! Person B quietly mentions to you that they were also at that show and person A had the only Jr there. It happens all the time, in every type of media. On facebook you just get it more day to day. In the end though, as a free media source I believe it does more good then harm. Remember there is always a delete button Edt to make a point more clearly, I was rambling a little...... -

Eurovision? (But I do love Eurovision, just not that particluar song! ) Yeah maybe a bit of a Eurovision fan But I really love the band Lordi, they have some awesome songs

Prefix Sahara Sweetheart Prefix Th Lions Share Prefix African Queen I chose a few of my dogs pedigree names. Fatal Attraction was one of a few his breeder had already picked for the litter. I always wanted a show dog called Fatal Attraction so it seemed like fate to me. I picked my bitches name. Her breeder wanted a dream theme and as luck would have it my favourite song is called Ever Dream so that became her name. My other dogs name was picked by his breeder, she went with a Y theme, Yngvie Dexterson (Dexter is his fathers pet name, hence Dexter son) I'm hoping I can pick the name for my next bitch. I've narrowed it down to : White Night Fantasy Hardrock Hallelujah Suspiria Snow White Race The Light I like to name my dogs after songs or bands.

Great news you can keep Ollie I may have missed this somewhere but how often do you groom him? My Lab sheds like that all the time and it drives me nutty. He gets brushed everyday and bathed in warm water when it gets really bad (this helps the coat fall) but the best thing we ever did with him was get the blower on him. We only ever use it outside (same with grooming) and it really does help. I still have to vaccum every day though
