Alchemy is the fun police here. When my OH and Misty play tugg O war they really get into it, Alchemy will come running out telling everyone off

I had to try this when my OH's X bred attacked my Lab, didn't do a damn thing. She got a bash over the head with a bit of wood, only thing that stunned her enough to break the grip she had on him I would do anything I had to to protect my dogs.

I've used Plum White, Plush Puppy Whiting and I am really looking at Animal House and Isle of Dog Whiting next, I've been told good things. I dont' use conditioner as it makes the coat too heavy and soft, taking away the natual texture so I use Plush Puppy Sea breeze oil and that keeps the coat healthy and nice

How Long Would You Leave Your New Dog In Quarantine
Bjelkier replied to heroeswit's topic in General Dog Discussion
We are bringing out a boy from Poland and he will be spending the 30 days there (offcause provided everything is ok with him) 120 days is a long time in that kind of enviroment and the cost would be threw the roof -
I'd love to do it one day, much further down the track

As Tassie said loving children and automatically obeying them are not the same thing. Its great that you are getting him into obediance, it will be very good for him and going to someone who understands Spitz breeds is even better. I hope it works out for you

ALL breeds are dogs first. He is behaving like a DOG. Get it out of your head that because he is a certain breed he isn't a dog first and foremost. I agree totally with Sandra and the others who have said this. It drives me insane when people come over to me at shows and say oh its a Samoyed, they are fantastic with children. No, wrong, they can be fantastic with children, it's not a natural instinct in the dog to see a child and think, hey, I have to be nice to that becuase I'm a Samoyed..... Honnestly it's like Labs and people assuming the come pre trained. ;) Sorry if that sounded harsh (I'm not trying to bite your head of or anything), I've been dealing with some very weird puppy buyers lately who have said the same thing and it's wearing me a little thin I agree with what Bundy's mum said about children having no food at all around him. I can't remember how old he is, 5 months? I think TOT would be great to start with, he sounds like he needs a very firm hand and I can tell you my Sammie's have also been resource garders, Samoyeds are not soft dogs, they might look it but they are solid steel under it all. What kind of training have tou been doing with him?

Best Breed For Your Average First Time Dog Owner
Bjelkier replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I agree with this -
I'm in exactly the same position, Spitz + Rain = Happy Muddy dogs! Only issue is I'm trying really hard to keep my lot clean for the show this weekend..... We got a bit of sun earlier today but the storm has hit now, ugh I wish it would go away for a few days! good luck with that! I've managed so far, just one more day!

Labs arnt guard dogs, if you want something that will guard I suggest looking for a different breed. My yellow desexed male Lab will bark if someone comes to the door and he took a serious dislike to someone once when we were out walking but I dont think in his case its a guarding behaviour so much as fear, he was a pet store pup so for all I know isnt even pure.

We play chasies up the hallway, train, go out to play in the short times it's raining less or if we are lucky has actually stopped and they sleep a lot. I have very good dogs but 5 days of rain they are starting to go a little mad

I would like to see a really good selection of leads, collars and harnesses, every where here is Rogz, I HATE Rogz...... Top qualilty food, not just the standard stuff. A good selection of strong toys, not just fluffy stuff that they can gut in two seconds or Kongs, my dogs hate Kongs Jackets, not cutsie crap but really decent coats for active dogs And a decent selection of grooming products and staff that actually know how to use them! Example: I was in a pet store the other day with one of the Sammie's and a man came over to chat, he was getting a Sammie puppy soon (reg breeder ) and he was showing me the furminator the store girl has sold him, saying it would be perfect for the breed I explained very carefully to him and the store girl what items should be used on such a coat....her lack of knowledge would have ruined that dogs coat. People go to these places for advice so the correct information would be wonderful!

How Fussy Is Your Oh Pertaining To Dogs Inside The House
Bjelkier replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
That's fair enough, you choose to compromise Moselle. I personally would just stay single, I couldn't be with someone who didn't understand my passions. -

OMG that's so funny !! I guess if they were extra staffies of the same colour they'd just blend !!! We have a deal, he doesn't care how many dogs I have or how much of our food budget goes on the dogs, as long as he can have his running account at the computer shop to buy bits for his toys !!! fifi My OH has said exactly the same thing to me Fifi! Only he also added his xbox addiction to that as well. I actually just went and asked my OH what would happen to him if he ever told me to keep the dogs outside, his reply "Um you would probebly make me sleep outside....." ;) Bless him he's a good boy. I'm very lucky, my OH adores dogs and is actually getting into the show scene himself But I'm like Poodlefan, I don't compramise about my passions. -

Bjelkier replied to Moselle's topic in General Dog Discussion
My OH adores our dogs and would never even suggest me leaving them outside! He sleeps with at least one of the dogs curled up with him, gives them food of his plate, rolls around on the floor with them, he loves them as much as I do. -
The pics arnt in the poll, they are here in the thread. So if you look at the top of a persons post you will see a number. You put that number in first and then which ever number the photo you want happens to be in order of that post.

2 Sammies and 1 Lab here, soon to be another 2 Sammie's joining us next year. We live in country NSW so no council issues thankfully! Food we buy in bulk, we get it from a local food supplier who also happens to be a showie so we get a great discount there Vet bills we have had thnkfully very few over the years. Our latest big one was for a bowel obstruction but we covered that easily enough do to a dual income and no children household. Walking we can take all three out together without any hassles. And sleeping we have a few dog beds in the house, non are bed destroyers so they have lastest a very long time, otherwise they sleep on our bed and the lounge.

Living in the country we dont really get a chance to go out walking where people can see us but on the occasions we do the reactions have been fantastic. People dont see many Samoyeds and the ones I have seen around are often too small or finely bones with awful dirty coats I walked along the newcastle peir once and it took 3 hours Everyone had to say hello to the 'big white teddy bears'

If the dog was brought into the house as a breeding dog with lines I really wanted I would try to bond. Should it not work I would more then likely breed with said dog and then find them a nice home.

I'm still in the shampoo testing phase ie I try everything I can get my hands on....... So far the two I like the best for the Sammies is Plush Puppy but I also use Groomers Royal Jelly while they are out of coat and Plumb White. I am thinking of trying Animal House next

I have an oztrail compact and an oztrail compact pavilion Both have stayed standing in extreme wind and rain, you just have to make sure its secured correctly. I also had an oztrail deluxe for about 5 years before it finally gave up (and we found it too big and heavy)
