  3. Huski the conversation in the spitz thread just made me think of it, what about a Swedish Lapphund?
  4. Oh yes. I dislike my MIL's dogs but I think that has a lot more to do with the lack of training she has given them. But I hated two of my neighbours dogs, both different dogs at different houses. Both were terrible barkers, they escaped, howled, annoyed my dogs and I just couldn't make myself like them. Horrible, horrible dogs.....

  7. Love this thread, I'd be bored if my dog didn't raise the middle claw from time to time. It's nifty there are so many different breeds with so many different attributes. Yep, SkySoaringMagpie, mine don't raise their middle claw, they just stick their tails up even higher Mine just laugh at me and run off.... :D A agree, a great thread.
  8. I second the maunka honey, wonderful stuff. My dogs loved it and would happily lick it off a spoon.

You know Kelza it's interesting you mention the difference between kennel vs pet. I was having a similar conversation with someone the other day and I agree with what you have said.
  13. The first things that drew me to the Sammie's was their appearance I'll admitt, I love white dogs and their long and ancient history. What drew me to their personalities however is their utter love of humaity, everyone is a Sammie's best friend. I love that when doing something with a Sammie they are intense, eager, intelligent, funny, willfull and they like to talk back. But they throw every bit of themselves into the activity given to them, even if they don't do exactly what you ask, they have a ball doing it But when at rest they are calm, quiet, gentle and very easy to deal with. I love that they need to be with their owners and no matter what I'm doing there is always a Samoyed not far behind 'helping'. They are tuned into their human's needs, I like that if I am unwell they don't demand I amuse them, they will go and play with each other.

The adverage weight for a male is generally about 20 to 25 kilo. Bitches are usually between 15 and 20 kilo I don't know that there is a huge difference in temperment between males and females. The dogs I know tend to be a little more sookie and cuddley, the girls can be more willing to go off and amuse themselves. Either sex however is very friendly, cuddley and the love being with their people.

Provided you feed the Sammie's a really good diet they don't eat much at all. And I know what you mean with the bigger dogs, when my OH decided on the Bullmastiff I nearly had a heart attack, I was sure we would be eaten out of house and home but after talking to the breeder about it, turns out they don't eat as much as I had thought.

Hmmm I've never thought about that before. I don't know the price because we buy everything in bulk monthly.... One bag of Nutro will last them a month (and thats with the Lab eating it too and he eats quite a bit) which is about $110 for a 15 kilo bag. Various meats we get from the butcher and monthly we are looking at about $30 for the both of them. At the moment Mistral (who is about 24 kilo) is eating one cup of dry (Nutro) in the morning and just under a cup of dry at night with about 2 table spoons of mince mixed in. Allie (about 15 kilo) is getting half dry in the morning and just just over half in the evening with two spoons of mince mixed in. They also get lamb flaps, turkey necks and the odd beef bone as well. (but on the nights they get this they don't get dry food)
