I agree with Megz. We have three at the moment and by the end of the year we are looking at having two or three more Samoyeds and very likely a Bullmastiff. And we rent too Snow Wolf

I had a hell of a time trying to find a rental with dogs in the Canberra area. We have a great rental history, the dogs have good resume, we both had full time jobs but it was still an uphill battle. What we ended up doing was looking further away from the areas we wanted, older houses and such and we got a much better response from people.

My Other Sister Says She Is Getting A Goldenoodle?!

I know how you feel, my brother just emailed me asking where he could get a free dog because he shouldn't have to pay for one -

It's more then likely the sun. I find the more time my Sammie's spend outside in the sun over summer the lighter their noses get.

Your Experience With Registered Breeders
Bjelkier replied to aussielover's topic in General Dog Discussion
I've never had an issue with breeders being rude, nasty, not answering emails or being snobbish at shows. And I have dogs from three different breeders and will be getting a fourth soon. I had a huge reply written but I think I will just stick with this now, it's just not worth it. -
Dogs That Can On Be Handled By One Person
Bjelkier replied to aussielover's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Mistral is like this with me too, if my OH takes him or god forbid someone else should take him in the show/obediance ring he is a total ass. A good friend of mine recently offered to take Misty is for the run off at a show and I have never seen him play up like that ever. -
Everyones puppies are beautiful! I'm getting very jealous as I still have a 5 week wait before I get either my Sydney bred boy or my Polish boy. But I do get to and see puppy next weekend and Yngvie that week after that while he is in doggie prison , so there will be lots of Samoyed photos in here soon.

When I was working at the vet practise I took the dogs with me every day, at the hearing clinic I would bring them in on occasion, the clients just loved them. I now work from home so they are alwasy with me. Currently I am doing two things, I manage a horse property (which I also live on) and I also do online marketting for a touring company. I love working from home and don't know if I would like getting back out there again.

What Breed Do You Think This Dog Is?
Bjelkier replied to Kelpiegal's topic in General Dog Discussion
Looks like an akita pup to me too. He has an akita face to me. My cousin just got an akita cross pup from a shelter and this guy has the same shaped face and muzzle. He certainly doesn't have anything remotely spitz like as a tail!! I agree. Aside from the colouring around the muzzle I see no Akita in that dog at all, nor do I see any Shiba Isn't that what i mixed breed is? Bit of something here and a bit of something else over there? My point is you need to look at more then colouring to guess what could be in a dog. Any number of crosses could have produced that colour combination, its far more likely that the dog has GSD in it then a rare breed like an Akita. -

Hard to say from the photo, ACD and a few other things would be my guess -
What's The Most Ridiculous Thing Your Dog's Been Called?
Bjelkier replied to ~Rumour~'s topic in General Dog Discussion
I get White Husky, White Mal, Long Haired Mal, Alaskan Husky, Snow dog (all the freaking time), Wolf and Polar bear The Lab has only ever been mislabled once and it was at a dog show by an exhibitor who called him a short haired Golden Retriever -
I was wondering about this the other day. My neighbours have a very fear aggressive Dobe (among other things). When the husband is there on his own, she is much calmer with her alert barking (and lunging for that matter) and yet when the wife is there alone the dog is a basket case, she just goes on and on and on. My current running theory is that the poor dog is stressed out of its mind because when the wife is around she feels she needs to be the pack leader and clearly isnt comfortable in the position. What strange though is that they seem to treat the dog in the same manner. But I'm not a trainer so this is all guess work and I could be way off base with this

Its nice to know so many people have good experiances with adult dogs, sadly myine have all been bad Not saying I would say no to an older dog in the future but I am wary about it.

I nearly laughed when I saw Labs in the top 10 of that list, obviously mine is broken, he's as dumb as a box of hammers. He is slow to train, slow to pick up new tricks, slow at performing them and I have to tell him over and over again. I will say this for him though, once he gets it the knowledge stays there. The Samoyeds however pick up new tricks very quickly, they are able to solve problems much faster then the Lab and are faster at understanding what I am getting at. I think what makes many people think they are stupid is that they are very independant and will question you from time to time, the way I see it is they seem to think 'why does this idiot keep telling me to do this? I already know how too, so why should I bother?' Not dumb, just willful

I've seen the good and the bad sides of showing but to be totally honnest I see far more good people then nasty ones, I think simply that the nasty people tend to be the loudest My advice to the newbies is take everyone people say with a grain of salt, you will soon learn that just like everything else in life there are some people who can't help being total a$$holes, ignore them, they are the ones everyone ends up laughing at because they look like frigging idiots. Find a good group of friends, be it your breed or others and make every show you go to about more then the dogs, take pinic lunches, organise camping trips and christmas and birthday parties, my friends and I do this and we have a blast!

Bloody hell,$1200 Mine were $250 each(GA) and were scored by AVA(hips and elbows) Wow, talk about expensive, we get then done for $300 here

Hi guys, sorry about crashing your thread but I know many of you are in Canberra. Lastnight in the Torrens area a six month old Samoyed puppy went missing. She answers to the name Kaylee and is microchipped. If you see her can you please call Rob on 0419 448 330 or PM me. Please spread the word about this little girl, her owners are very worried. Thanks
