This is common sense that you pay more for the better pup, why you paying show class for a dud and why taking the dud when the same money buying a good one? This is silly concept I am thinking they all the same price becuase they costing the same to raise up from birth? In that case the duds should be the base price of raising up and better one's costing more is fair enough? Joe Joe, What is a better pup to the pet buyer? What type of dog that is worth more money to a pet buyer? What is a lessor pup to the pet buyer? What type of dog is worth less money to a pet buyer? This depends on what the pet buyer wants, yes, so they have a choice perhaps, but low qulaity pup cannot be same price as high quality pup and if the breeder say to me Joe, here is 3 puppies you can choose from a dud, an ok one and a beautiful example and they all the same price, I choosing the beautiful one is natural. If the dud is half price and I am wanting a pet maybe I pay less and be happy? Joe So what if it's something cosmetic kicking the puppy out of the ring? Maybe the pigment is broken on the side of the mouth, or maybe the tail dosn't curl over the back 100% perfectly, a splash of colour in the wrong area? How on earth does that make the dog a dud? It's still a beautiful, happy and healthy puppy.

Trust me he's not as elegant as he seems. Last night he went major zoomies and looked very dopey. I just wish I had the camera out, it was so funny

How Much Is That Doggie In The Window?
Bjelkier replied to Elenbah's topic in General Dog Discussion
8 years ago our Lab was bought from a pet store for $1200 and he was reduced becasue he had been there so long. All of the Samoyeds have cost roughly the same amount, each getting a little bit more expensive by a 100 or so. My latest Sammie however was sold on mates rates otherwise he would have been the most expensive but I would have paid twice the asking price for a dog with his lines. -
Dante did a similar thing when I was soaking his kibble. He would see me make it up and then we went and did something else, he would continue to return to the kitchen looking at the spot his food was (not that he could actually see it)

I have a litter planned for the end of the year and the price of the pups will be the price of the stud fee. Others have told me to up the price becuase the stud is imported and his lines are lovely but he is unproven so I would not be comfortable charging more for an unknown quantity. That being said the price is pretty much what most other breeders are selling their pups for at the moment too.

What's A Suitable Breed For My Lifestyle?
Bjelkier replied to Sabby's topic in General Dog Discussion
What kind of coat are you willing to deal with, is grooming an issue? How often can you exercise the dog? What size do you want? Im sorry to hear about the loss of Lulu, Bullmastiffs are an amazing breed. -
Really? How anyone could be jealous of a dog is bizzare to me.... I do spend a lot of time on the dogs but then so does my OH. We still do things together but often the dogs are there too.

Not necessarily. Halo has a really good recall. She could be playing with Akira in the dog park and I'll call her and she comes running. Akira has a crap recall, but if Halo comes, she'll follow because Halo might get something that she won't. We took our breeder's advice and made training recall a game - we'd hide in the house, call Halo and she'd get praise, cuddles and treats for coming. So she knew that if she came to us she always had fun and got food. We were lucky though because Lappiemum had started all the recall training off for us because the puppies were always happy to go to her. All our Sammies are the same, all have good recall.

Is he inside or outside when this happens? And I agree with Meh, give him something else to think about.
-
Congrats hes beautiful
-
I dont agree with it at all, my Lab is as dumb as a rock Give me a Spitz breed or a hound for true intelligence any day.
-
Sounds like harmless (if expensive) fun to me. People spend way more than that on hobbies. At least there's no pretense that this is anything other than having found her dog a friend. I agree, its harmless (expensive) fun. I would hate for someone to tally up the money I have spent on my 5 dogs over the last 8 years

What Do You Mean By "excellent Temperament"?
Bjelkier replied to Pillow's topic in General Dog Discussion
I think 95% of the time it's this. People need to take responsibility with the breed they choose to buy, do the research, understand the breed and what it is an isn't capable to doing. That being said breeders also need to be very careful about who they place their puppies with. It does seem to me like it would be a dumbing down of breeds. Why should the breed fancy suffer the loss of what makes their breeds special and different from other breeds becuase some pet people can't deal with one? And would such a thing stop with temperment? While we are at it lets breed coated breeds with shorter coats so people can look after them more easily, lets make giant breeds smaller so they can fit into a more suburban home ect...... I would hate to see some of the beautiful breeds of this world suffer the loss of their temperment to make them more 'user friendly'
