  1. Can you please PM me the original link to the add. I would be very interested in who this dog is from. EDT, sorry missed a bit
  2. All I ask is that they dont pull and heel when I need them too.
  3. Such a shame you dont want a coated breeds. Samoyeds would be pretty close to perfect for what you want.
  4. This is so true. I was looking for a rental for ages and people kept knocking me back because of the dogs, I acutally dealt with some really rude real estate agents, one going as far to tell me that I couldn't possibly have a tidy house and that it's unsanitory We now rent privatly and it's been fantastic. Also helps that the owners are pedigree dog people ;)
  5. My girl Alchemy usually gets Allie or Al. All the others have shorter names. When they are naughty I use their full names.
  6. It will always be Samoyeds for me
  7. Why do the breeds you have owned appeal to you? We all have different ideas of what we want from a dog. Personally I am a fan of the spitz but my head is always turned by a well bred, well muscled Bull breed, they are truely a sight to behold. After owning a ABPT I would happily have another and I would have no issue having one with children because I do not believe that they are mindless killing machines.
  8. Showdog I didnt say they were all idiots. All I said was I wouldnt do it because I am not comfortable with the idea. I use to manage a kennel and unfortunatly I did work with some people who didnt do things the right way and I am not willing to take the chance with my girl.
  9. Personally I wouldnt take the risk of my girl going to a kennel. For all I know some kennel hand may let her in with another dog by accident. Can you send her back to her breeder or board the dog?
  10. I have a friend bring in an NZ dog and this is the quote that got too.
  11. The two males I have at home have never been an issue when my bitch is in. They are up one end of the house, she is in the other, seperated with babygates and always under supervision and we swap them around. When I got out everyone is crated (but they always are). They don't howl, cry, scream or mark. The worst part is Misty who wont eat for about 3 days. My imported dog however has broken threw a chain link fence, jumped over 6 foot fences, screams, pulls, marks. I am so so so glad he dosnt live with me
  12. There are a few lovely GSDs around my area who seem to be doing pretty well.
  13. I saw one on Friday going across our horse riding arena.
  14. I agree, we really need some good publicity. I would also add in that all the work good breeders do to get a lovely puppy, the amount of money it costs to breed a litter, the heartache and loss that goes into breeding. I would also like to see a good one on showing, that prooves we arnt all total nutters
  15. I found that very hard to watch. Although I understand they are trying to show that BYBing is wrong, all I saw was bogans making bull breeds look bad. The woman called 'pitbull' shouldn't be allowed to have dogs, good grief! I think I would have liked to see more on how much money feeding mum and pups was going to cost. The interveiwer could have asked questions about why she didn't know about health testing, why she didn't vacc the puppies, why she thought it was ok to sell a puppy to someone who was 'paying the pup off' I also would have liked to see a comparison to the ways an ethical reg breeder would have done things.
  16. 1. Do you think it is a fun thing for the pet or a serious title for a good specimen of the breed? - Showing is always fun but I think it''s just as serious as any other title so the dogs that compete should be good examples of the breed 2. Do you think the dog should be in peak condition or just an oldie who you think likes to show? - Peak condition 3. Will you be upset if you come up against Champions or Grand Champions? No I am about to venture into the neuter ring myself with two Ch. titled dogs. Due to unforseen health issues with both dogs I have decided to have them desexed but both are lovely and got their Ch. titles with ease and they enjoy showing. I see the neuter title as a great reason to keep them in the show ring and having fun.
  17. It seemed to be a study on people being able to tell the difference between a Stafford, Amstaff, ABPT and random crosses.
  18. I would insist that they put their dog in the kennel. It's not going to make you popular but it's your house and your rules.
  19. After having the most wonderful Goldie as a child I figured a Lab couldnt be too different so I bought one of my first dog. Both were very easy to train, happy to be with the family, sweet dogs but I found our Goldie was sweeter and more gentle. Less of a battering ram when playing too but might have just been her. Personally I like Goldie's more but then maybe I will always compare everything to my wonderful Meg (RIP)
  20. Provided the dog would be looked after in a way I am comfortable with I would be fine selling to someone I didn't agree with.
  21. All I can see happening is people who don't bother getting a lisence getting dog after dog after dog as the last one is taken away from them. I mean, what is going to stop them? And that in turn is going to fill the pounds even more. They can still buy a dog from a pet store, from a BYB, from a puppy farm and saying that the breeder needs to see the lisence before selling the dog wont do s***. The places these people would get a dog from are already dodgy so what do they care? Sorry but I don't agree with the idea at all.
  22. Oh the poor darling. She makes me think of my childhood GR....I miss her so much.
  23. Oooh I don't know about that. My young Samoyeds biggest competition has come from the cutest little French Bulldog puppy. I always worry when I see him in sweeps or the in show line up
