I said the same thing as CW EW in the Samoyed thread.

The best thing you can do in this situation is get in a qualified behavourist. Only they will be able to tell you what is going on and how to deal with it.

Does anyone on here have a show OES? What kind of grooming is required for one before a show? Is it just a case of brushing and combing (like the Sammies) or do you need to style and scissor the coat?

Colour / Pattern / Markings - Importance?
Bjelkier replied to Aziah's topic in General Dog Discussion
Colour means nothing to me when picking a dog. Provided it fits the standard Im happy -
My Lab has no interest in birds but he will happily hunt and kill/eat rabbits and the only place he will retrieve is in water All my Sammie's have a herding streak in them but Dante and Alchemy would be the best.

Sounds perfectly polite and reasonable to me.

I dont use the coats because I don't want to flatten the dogs coats but I do use the mats and they are wonderful. The dogs love them.

I love puppy sweeps. Great for teaching pups the basics, getting use to standing in the ring for awhile and to socialise with others (always ask first).

Absolutely, I'm just as passionate about Ocsars Law as the next, like I said I don't support the actions of these people or anything about what they do. I personally think it's disgusting, and I would never support a puppy farm, in anyway. But the initial post was about Big Brands cashing in on todays trend of DD. People like DD, I like DD, most of them are adorable. But I would never buy from a Pet Shop or Puppy Farm, only from a person that I know has put in as much work as the next breeder to make sure they produce quality healthy puppies. But it's unfortunate that most people don't realise this. And don't realise what their supporting by buying their DD from a pet store. That's what I believe we need to fix. DD breeding is a genetic dead end for any purebred dog involved. Sorry, but I won't support something contributing to the decline of breeds I love. This ^^

My beautiful Polish import Sonata Arctica Yngvie Dexterson - Yngvie, Junior Ch of poland, Jr winner 2010, gained his Australian Ch, title today with a Best of Breed and Inter in Group. We are so proud of everything this dog have achived since landing in Australia in late Feb 2011. :D

Klink - Is it so hard to believe that some of these 'faces' might actually have some truely fantastic dogs on the end of their leads and it is infact the dogs that are winning?
-
It's just another thing to add to the list of stupid things she's done.

I have seen some unbelievable face judging in the few years I have been showing. One person could have taken in a three legged stool and won but it's not as common, I believe, as some people would have you think. And some of the people who scream face judging the loudest, I have found, are guilty of it themselves. The worst thing I have seen is an exhibitor walking up to a fellow exhibitor and saying, 'I will win under xxxx judge because they have known me for 40+ years and they will put me up' And what a surprise, they did. If thats the way people want to win then that's fine, people in their breed know and have no respect for the judge or the exhibitor and in the end it's the breed that will suffer.

ah I knew it sounded wrong - but remember it end in 'x' either way that quicksand was a hell of a way to go - too much me at the time. Yeah it still gets me crying too

No Shadowfax!!!!! I lost some tears over that horse too. The horse from Neverending stroy is called Artex. Shadowfax is Gandulfs horse ;) My favourite doggie film is Bon Bon about an Argentine Dogo

Sounds like a typical bored Sammie to me. None of my Sammies really enjoy kongs once they are out of the puppy stage and they dont really like treat balls. When they have used them they get it over and done with in about 5 mins. I filmed them one day when I was out and they played a little with each other and the toys but then they left them alone and chewed pine cones and sticks instead. How much exercise and training does she get daily? EDT to say. A bored Samoyed can cause an insane amount of damage. I've known one that ate threw a garden path (concrete) and another that put a huge hole in a wall!

I met a number of Paps and they are fantastic little dogs (I would love one but Mr Bjelkier dosn't like them ) The ones I have met at shows and agility trials have been a bit yappy but I just asumed that was excitment. We boreded a few at the kennel I worked at and they were quiet most of the day.

An update to "Mason's" career.. His 5th show was the Newfoundland Champ Show in NSW where he won Runner Up in Show and Puppy in Show! To say we are thrilled is an understatement!! Mason is 11 months old. After just 5 shows, he is already the number 9 Newf in Australia at the moment!! Well done!

I love the look of the european dogs, how striking! -
Can I ask if the dog is co owned between 2 breeders? He is
-
I co own an imported male and I will never do it again. Way too many issues. I agree with a lot of the others, get a nice bitch, see how she turns out and import semen later on. Good luck :D

Registered Doesn't Equal Ethical Does It?
Bjelkier replied to Bells73's topic in General Dog Discussion
There have been Samoyeds that have had liver shunts and some breeders are testing their puppies before sending them to their new homes.
