  1. Yes I do. White is a great colour to have in a dog, it leaves my clothing options wide open. I only really need to avoid light colours like cream, white, pale grey and pastel pink everything else is wide open. I love bold colours in the ring like red, bright pink, silver, black, dark purple and blue.
  2. I think you should be neat and well presented when in the ring. How far you wish to go is up to you. I personally love the full suit and to have matching leads etc. Although I have been known to wear black jeans and a jacket with gumboots when the weather is crappy. There is no way I'm ruining one of my expensive suits with mud.
  3. Yep all my animals have nicknames and they answer to them. Lestat - Blondie Mistral - Misty or Bear Bear Alchemy - Allie Dante - DD Seti - Puss Ahti - Squishy
  4. We wanted a friend for our Lab when our APBT passed away. We narrowed it down to a few breeds that we liked the look off and then went out and met the breeds in person. It helped that we showed my MIL's Newf's so we had the chance to see the breeds we liked a lot. Recently we have been looking into adding a new breed to the house and have decided on the OES.
  5. I'd have to agree, they are a lot more dog then your standard pet owner could handle IMO. I wanted one until I got to know my friends dogs and showed/met others of the breed. I wouldn't own one now if you paid me! Beautiful to look at and admire but not a cuddley teddy bear.
  6. I agree with the others, no way he is pure. My guess would be Kelpie or GSD cross.
  7. This film, narrated by Clare Balding, looks at the issues affecting dog health and wellbeing in this country and what is being done in 2012 to help ensure that dog welfare stays at the top of the agenda. 'Dogs -- A Healthy Future', focuses on the main issues that affect dog health and welfare, including hereditary diseases, issues created by breeding dogs for the way that they look and the problem of cruel puppy farms that breed dogs for profit without regard for their health and welfare. The film explores the steps that have already been taken to address these issues and the need for united action in order to ensure that the progress continues in 2012.
  8. I'm certainly no expert on Rotties but his head looks different from the Rottie's I've seen. He could be from light lines though, I don't know. Did you get him from a reg breeder and did you see the parents?
  9. Samoyeds in QLD are not common unfortuanatly. Although Dog Nerd on here is in QLD and has just started showing her Samoyed. Maybe she would be worth PMing so you guys could meet up at a show and she could tell you about the breed?
  10. This ^^ All my show dogs see a chiro every few months for a check up or sooner if I have noticed something isn't quite right. If one of the dogs is pacing or moving strangly, not putting their tail up, showing a weakness in their back they go to the Chiro and afterwards they move better, the tail is up etc. So I do believe it works.
  11. I think they're a great idea if you have a dog that needs to be in top physcial condition and can't get them out there yourself (like myself with a recent hip injury, no more long walks for awhile here )
  12. Nope all mine are inside in front of fans or taking a dip in the pool.
  13. Usually yes. Samjohn - I would be getting your dog to a qualified trainer asap. Dog aggression (or aggression of any kind) in a Samoyed is quite rare, even for entire mature males and I would worried there is something else going on here. I would also be contacting the dogs breeder and letting them know what's going on.

  15. I do like cats and have had them my whole life and would love a pedigree Russian Blue one day but I'm finding I am less and less tollerant of certain cat behaviours and not to mention the fact that they have started to make me sneeze. At this point I would be more then happy to have no more cats when my two pass away and just get a small dog instead.
  16. I'm so glad your first show experiance was a good one All the best with your boy.
  17. We tried so many different things with my APBT and the only thing that stopped him getting out was a double sized dog run with a concrete base and a fully inclosed roof.
  18. White. Very few people know they can be cream or white and biscuit and the occasional judge has been known to call a heavily marked biscuit Samoyed dirty.
  19. Moo is going to be so disappointed in you Moo is deeply offended I love the MOO... doesnt mean I love ALL the feild spaniels I have to agree. Moo is awesome and I'll make it up to her with lots of cuddles next time ;)
