  1. Matilda had her ultrasound today and she's pregnant! Saw three little ones but this girl is well known for hiding her kids, last time she had a little the ultrasound showed 2 and she ended up with 8.

    Samoyed

God I am sick of shop assistants telling people this. Furminators destroy Samoyed coats! Never ever use one!!!!! I'd hate to see the condition her dogs coat is in
  3. Samoyeds are at Castle Hill on the 8th. Good luck to everyone competing.
  4. Mr Bjelkier would keep them. If something happened to the both of us the dogs go back to their breeders. I know they would want them back.
  5. I have Mistral who isn't named after a fan but a storm in southern france. Also had, Elrond Grape the fish and Nightwish the cat and Slinky, Rasmus and Rammstein the rats. My OH has had cats called Rope and Sneakers. And my brother had a dog called Donut and a cat called Morning Rise (Opeth)
  6. We are pretty sure our girl is pregnant but I'm getting an ultrasound done to make sure she's not just having a false pregnacy. Her daughter had a very convincing false pregnancy recently and although everyone, vet and breeder included, thought she had puppies it wasn't until she had the ultrasound that we found out the truth.
  7. It's not a good idea to use furminators on a spitz coat, it will rip the top coat. As side before, wide tooth comb, slicker, pin brush. Always comb the dog before a bath to minimise knots and matting. I may have missed this but are you using a dryer on the coat or towel drying?
  8. The Samoyeds are always starting conversations with me, it's only polite to reply. Typical talking Samoyed. All of our dogs speak like this without the training on cue (although this poor dog looks like he's had enough of saying 'I don't know' or 'I love you' and is more likely saying 'bugger off, I'm done.' ) Talking Samoyed
  9. It's possible it was too close in sound or look to something else. Try submitting names in other languages, like where your breed originally comes from or your own family history, this seems to work pretty well for some people. I got very lucky with mine and got first choice, I picked mine from finnish mythology.
  10. ****** Waltzing Matilda ****** Aussie Idol ****** Th Man from SnowyRiver ****** Bondi Baby ****** True Blue ****** Aussie Aussie Aussie ****** Southern Star ****** Iconic Aussie Babe ****** Terra Australis ****** Dreamtime I can't think of anything else. Australian names arn't very easy for me to think up.
  11. No breed break down, sorry.
  12. The Lab inhales his food. All four Samoyeds go to their eating places and eat at a fairly normal pace and then check out each others bowls.
  13. Toy: Havanese Small: German Spitz Medium: Samoyed or Eurasier Large: OES Giant: Irish Wolfhound
  14. Hopefully she has one in there for me Not getting my hopes up yet though  I've told her we need lots of beautiful show puppies but who knows if she will listen
  15. F*CK! And some of you are having an issue with big, well groomed, show coats? Good grief, get your priorities right
  16. I have full coated show dogs and they are treated like any other dog. They get muddy, wet, go swimming in lakes and oceans. They are not wrapped in cotton wool and kept inside 24/7. And none of the people I know who also have long coated show dogs treat their dogs any differently to mine.
  17. -- like ... 'lillies.' Px So what is a show breed exactly?
  18. OMG how cute is the baby Bullterrier! Parisandlhoki why don't you join us in the Samoyed/Jap SPitz thread, we would love more Samoyed people in there ;) Currently I'm waiting for a whole litter of puppies, our girl Matilda was mated the weekend before last so fingers crossed we get some beautiful little babies :D
  19. I get that impression as well. Also to compare old photos of dogs, not brushed or well presented to a stacked fully groomed show dog.....come on. The OES is a perfect example of that. OES do not walk around looking like they do normally in the show ring, that look takes hours upon hours to achieve.
  20. Samoyeds compete in a lot of things (they are more popular as sports dogs O/S then they are here though) Herding, Sledding, Agility, Obediance, Flyball, Tracking, Weight Pulling.
  21. Marie Claudette, Maltese, dodgy 'reg' breeder - passed away at 10 weeks old due to neurological issues Armand, APBT, rescue dog - PTS at about 8 due to on going health and behaviour issues Satu, Alaskan Malamute, rescue dog - PTS at about 3 due to kidney failure
  22. Yes it effects my decisions on breeds.
