  1. I think you're in for a long night Miss B, good luck :D Matilda has started getting in her whelping box more often and sleeping in it (good to know she likes it), making nests in the garden beds and she's got a lot of milk. Don't think she is too far off now.
  2. My boy is very good when the girls are in season. He proved that this weekend when he was shown with no less then four in season bitches camped around him and having come from home where one of our own girls is in. He couldn't have cared less, however the second he this he has a shot at them he'll take it. He almost got our youngest girl when he was only a baby! And the young boy I used to mate my older bitch recently was very good. He was quite, ate his dinner, didn't get silly but mated our girl very quickly when out with her. And he certainly didn't miss, she's due to whelp in 7 days.
  3. No, too many badly behaved dogs and clueless owners.
  4. I agree with this ^^ I also like to get my babies out a lot. And although they don't have to be perfect it sure does help your chances if they can walk on the lead without being a total nutter and stack at least a little. And I've never believed that if you have a well trained baby it's somehow not enjoying the ring and wont be a good show dog. Make the experiance fun for them and they will have a blast (although I will say some breeds are harder then others) My first show Samoyed didn't get intot he ring until he was 8 and I really regret that. It was very hard to go up against the other dogs who had so much more experiance then he did. We didn't win anything for quite awhile. Get yourself out to as many shows a possible for the experiance, it will be worth it later.
  5. I've had fairyfloss stuck in the Samoyeds coat before and another Samoyed exhibitor ended up with tomato sause all over her dogs head just before she was due in the ring. White dogs and sticky fingered children are a bad mix at a dog show!
  6. Klink you've brought this topic up before and I believe the general answer was that no one liked the idea for very good reasons. Previous Topic
  7. I"ll admitt I said no to a lot of people at the Royal this year. My first thought is the comfort of my dog and it was his first royal and the Samoyeds were on last, I wasn't about to have him sitting on a trolley for hours on end being called this way and that for the constant photos people want taken with the big white teddy bear and patted by people because they seem to think they have that right and getting worn out. We also had a lot of trouble getting the dogs groomed because people just kept reaching over the fence and patting them. But I was polite and often explained why they couldn't pat him. Royal are stressful but there is no need to be rude to people about it.
  8. Matilda had her xray done today. We can easily see 5 and maybe an extra little spine.
  9. I have a similar situation here at the moment. I have a friends dog, I'll be having the litter with her but she dosn't belong to me. My friend is advertising the litter on her website too. It happens all the time and is perfectly ok. The pedigree papers are done up with the Canine Council of which ever state the bitch is registered in when she whelps.
  10. Matilda is good, she's so big! She's a bit flat today and vomited up her dinner but is ok now and the puppies are wriggling around. There is one little chap on the left who is always on the move, poor Matilda.
  11. Awww, puppies first photo shoot  You know now I can see a bigger image I think I can see 7? Can't wait to see how many you get :D
  12. I'm sorry I don't see any Aussie Shep in there. I do see more ACD x Corgi though. Just because pure Corgis have short legs dosn't mean a X bred corgi wont have longers ones. I had a corgi x terrier as a kid and he had the terrier long legs with the corgi ears, body. He was a funny lookng little dog but sweet.
  13. My pack found a huge brown in our yard a few weeks ago, thankfully no one was bitten (thank god for a good recall!) RIP little Ziva
  14. Exactly. Why does it matter if the dog is shown? Provided it's not showing it's issues in the ring or bred from and passing on it's issues why can't the owner/breeder enjoy their time out with the dog? There is no such thing as a perfect dog.
  15. I find this bizarre. It use to happen at the vet practise I worked at. If people are so hell bent on having a certain breed I can't understand why they don't just go to a breeder in the first place. Weird. Honnestly breeds misidentification annoys me and I do correct people. Rescues naming any large tan x as a mastiff drives me nuts. Having Samoyeds is alot of fun. We get all kinds of things from long haired siberian malamutes to polar bears  I love it though when people ask me the breed, I tell them and then they say....'what's a Samoyed?...'
  16. Some more Samoyed ones for you, all Australian. Kimchatka Belaia Icemagik Snowispa Mezen Crystalfern Kimskova Alaskamal - Samoyeds and Alaskan Malamutes Lunasea Keftiu Whitecherry Samarctic Shacar Charchil Modeysa Severnaya Samloch Wiltimloch Trezjur Littleheros Ajana Eskydon Zareine Kyski
  17. SC you were quite close to the ring, right where the dogs were moving back towards the judge and it was distracting a number of the dogs, not just the exhibitor in question. A couple of people wanted Ziva moved back. Everyone has different opinions of what people should and shouldn't be doing. Personally I didn't find her an issue but other people did. Generally if I'm taking photos close to the ring I don't bring the dog along but thats JMO
  18. During my girls last litter the vet was certain there were only 2 and she went on to have 8.
  19. We currently have 4, having gone down from 6 recently. (9, 6, 3 and 15 months) That number will more then likely go up with the coming litter.
  20. This. I would just stand (or grab a chair and sit there) holding the lead. Ignore him and wait the blighter out. When he turns over the right way up, praise and reward. At the moment it sounds like he is manipulating you to get exactly what he wants. Any resistance/pulling/rolling/playing fish on the end of the lead just stand there and let the pup learn the limitations of the lead. Praise when upright and not pulling e.g. just standing there. Once you are at that point, as mentioned encourage the pup to take one step then reward etc. ^^This. He's throwing the puppy version of a tantrum and you're giving in. Wait him out and then praise for good behaviour.
  21. You need to meet some Borzoi Weasels! :D Some might not like hugging, but the vast majority do... Maybe they're anti-dogs in regard to hugging?? Same goes for the majority of Samoyeds. I am yet to meet one that doesn't love a cuddle, even from a total stranger.
  22. Matilda is going great and has an obvious belly now and getting bigger every day. She's eating every meal like it's her last and being a huge sook.
