I'm so, so glad he's being such a good boy for you and he's settling in well. :D

I thought I had a week before my first pup left but since we have made up our minds about who goes where he's leaving me tomorrow  There will be a group pic taken before he leaves so I'll post that tomorrow. Meanwhile here are the two I'm running on. Beowulf - blue boy (he was Vierys but it rhymes with Daenerys and I don't like rhyming names) And Daenerys - silver girl

Thanks for replys. As never witnessing this in any of the many dogs I've had over the years (I've obviously been very lucky), condition was completely unkown to me. Wasn't until I became interested in Danes, Mastiffs & other giant breeds that I started to read more about hip/elbow scores etc. No bunny hopping and afraid I'm not sure if her gait is un-natural. Although as you mentioned HW not much rear drive. It's like she seizes up after laying down for prolonged periods and once mobile for a while seems to be okay. ST & Bjelkier How sad for you both. Were you able to treat or opt for surgery? Must have been dreadful to watch young vibrant puppies in so much discomfort. Have had some advice from Mastiff breeder and it appears it may be nothing to worry about straight away. Vet did mention she appeared to have growing pains in her lower legs on our first visits at 16 & 20wks. Could well be the case here. Hope so anyway. We'll be seeing him next week. Glucosamine in his dinner and keeping him very lean as well as swimming. We have been swimming him about every week for the last 9 years and it made the world of difference to his movement. For many years he was fine but now as he gets older we are seeing him getting stiff and sore again. Our vet thinks we will need to start giving him something for the pain soon.

Good. They're 8 weeks on Wednesday and start going to their new homes on the weekend! I'm going to miss the little critters so much

Such beautiful little pups!

My Lab showed signs very early. Bunny hopping, stiffness, limping and at 6 months he was unable to get up without help.

I know this might seem like a silly question but did you actually see the paperwork of the parents scores or did she just tell you what they are? (I know a few people who took breeders on their word and later found out the breeder had lied and the scores were very high)

What Espinay says. Depends what feels right for you and the dog. I use martingales on my puppies but if they are hard to deal with they get a light chain and a short nylon lead.

Mine get sleepy and rest after food

So true! Or when they decide to dump in the ring even though they were taken for a toilet walk less than 15 minutes previously! I hate this. My young boy did this a few times to me, drove me insane!!!

I've been there too! dogsaremyworld a good friend once gave me some wonderful advice when I was in a similar position as yourself. She said "in the end you should only be thinking of one thing, your kennel. You need to do what is best for Skyforger and stop worrying about everyone else." Best advice I've ever gotten. You need to do whats best your your kennel and as Rysup said, your 'mentor' needs to deal with that fact you will do your own thing. If it starts WW3 then, well at least you found out sooner rather then later.

Show Great Dane Worth $27,000 Stolen From Rv (us)

I suspect most of the cost of the dog was shipping. That can cost a fortune! Poor people, I hope they find their dog. -
I agree. That could get you in a lot of trouble.
