I wouldn't be happy if someone tried to hug me or for that matter even speak to me in such cases. It's not that I'm trying to be rude but I hate people being around me when I'm super emotional like that. I just want to be able to get in and get out without talking to anyone. I love my vets like that. When I had to have my last boy PTS they told me just to leave, worry about paying at another time. They were so respectful. I do really feel for that little girl though. Her parents really should have dealt with that better.

80kg Rottweilers - Is This Legit?
Bjelkier replied to Simply Grand's topic in General Dog Discussion
Yup! Zac (Irish Wolfhound) is "only" 77kg. But then I still get people telling me that their Mother's, Cousin's, Uncle's best mate had one that was much bigger. Like others have said I think there are some people out there that just have to have the biggest badest [insert breed here] If Hamish and Zac don't even top 80kg I'd hate to think how big a Rottie would have to be to reach those weights It's not like either of those boys are exactly little  -
Whatever suits that particular puppy. Some need more then others so there is no magic number. This is very true. I've raised all my puppies on Puppy Pro Plan with no issues at all. However my latest litter started going east west very young. I took them off the Puppy and popped them on adult with a lower protein content and within a few days the pups fronts were straight again.
-
This was my first thought too. My two youngest started going east/west. Changed the diet and in a few days they were fine again.

How old is Elroy? If he had to have surgery again on the eye would it be hard on him? Personally I'd just remove the eye and be done with it. 20%-30% isn't a high enough percent for me. Good luck with whatever you decide.

Dog Hair And Car Upholstery A Lifelong Partnership
Bjelkier replied to Kirislin's topic in General Dog Discussion
The Samoyed hair is easy, that just wipes right off with a damp cloth or lint brush. Labrador hair on the other hand is the bane of my existence. It sticks to everything and so far nothing has managed to remove it all. I've given up at this stage  -
For me it's not about who has the better credentials provided both sides can afford to keep the dogs. Who are the dogs more bonded with? If my OH and I ever broke up I would take the boys, without a doubt they are mine but he would get my first home bred girl Dany. She is very much his dog and although it would hurt me to lose her she would be happier with him and IMO it's more important to let the dog go with 'their' human.

All my Samoyeds are nuts for water this is the brother to my kids, Jack doing his best waterhorse impression

Not surprisingly none of my animals names are on that list, we like strange names (Lestat, Mistral, Dante, Alchemy, Daenerys, Beowulf, Ahti and Seti) but I do know plenty of people whose pets do have those names. Our first cat was originally Smokey but we changed it to Seti when we brought him home.

I agree about the rake being best for the GSD. As for the Newfie I use to line comb them with a good collie comb and then go over with a really good slicker and pin brush. Just using a slicker on the Newf and not getting right in to the skin will only allow mats to form.

 Samoyeds. Wolf is quite adorable when he wants to go out. He'll come over and sit down next to me. Leans right up against me so I have to look at him, then gives me a big dose of those beautiful brown eyes and very gently puts a paw on my leg or arm, whatever is closest. How could I ignore that?
-
I put them out for the Samoyeds today and they are all being used willingly by the dogs. In fact Wolf has scored two for himself to he can stretch out
-
I think all you can do is make sure the dogs are always locked away when you're not home. Be it inside the house or in a secure run. My Sammys are avid hunters and recently one of the 8 month olds got a possum. I keep them locked up when I can't be there to watch.

The Samoyeds keep insisting on going outside to play today. The don't seem to care how hot it is!

I like how you've worded that Espinay. Well said

Sorry, I got a mental image of you scratching a large muscly tattooed guy behind the ears and him flopping down on the ground like dogs do... He wasn't unattractive
-
I've noticed people are sometimes like that when I have the Samoyeds out (maybe I look intimidating, tattoo's, lots of black  ) and tell them they can have a pat. The relief on people's faces that they didn't have to ask is quite obvious.

Adopting A Dog On A 'long Term Home Stay'
Bjelkier replied to kiwioz's topic in General Dog Discussion
Personally I wouldn't do it. You'll have the same problem of Finn being lonely in two years time and there are a lot of grey areas where something could go very wrong. Is there someone near by who you could arrange play dates for Finn with? Maybe doggie day care? I'm not sure. My Lab was miserable when our APBT passed away and we got our first Sammy. They've multiplied since then so only ever having one dog was never an option for us  -
I say hi to the ones that interest me.

I like it. It's neat, easy to navigate. Looks good.

Depends on how long we will be out. If it's going to be a really long day they are left in the dog runs with ice water, cool beds, pools and heaps of shade. They also take it upon themselves to dig nice cool dirt beds for themselves which they seem to love. For a few hours, inside with the fans. We have a huge amount of trees around the property so even on a really hot day it's noticablly cooler at home outside so we almost never use the A/C

No music, no sound effects, no gifs Neat, tidy, easy to navigate and up to date info (be it litters, current dogs, whatever). Out of date sites annoy me so much I even went so far as to do a website up and maintain it for a friend who hadn't updated hers in 2 years. Otherwise I'm not too fussed. You have to remember websites cost money and the more you have on them the more they generally cost. Some breeders can't be bothered with fancy sites with hundreds of photos and pages.

Biscuit or biscuit and white Samoyeds (The first dog isn't mine, the second one is my boy Beowulf)
