I think it comes down to breed and temperament of the dogs. I've had bitches who loath one another and others who are wonderful together.

That's right, as a rescuer I do all my paperwork when dogs are adopted and send it off. I just asked for a list from the council of all the dogs registered in my name and guess what? Some of the dogs i have adopted out and completed Transfer of Ownerships on are still in my name ... Yep, and then there is my latest pet peeve: UNREGISTERED microchips. Microchipping simply isn't enough! A microchip has to be registered, or it is completely useless! I kept hearing very sad and frustrating stories about unregistered microchips from my rescues, but it never really registered with me (no pun intended) what it meant, until someone posted the following link: http://petaddress.com.au/ To my horror, one of my boys wasn't registered either! It's easy. Just go there and type in your pet's microchip number to see if it is indeed registered, and/or to update your contact info. If you can't find anything, please immediately contact your registry, so the problem can be fixed before the chip info is ever needed. This happened to someone I sold an older dog to. She got it worked out but I felt terrible to muck them around like that.

The big deal is he went out unprepared, got himself into a situation that could have been avoided if he had half a brain and because of that a dog lost it's life. After saving the fool, might I add. I love my dogs, I would no sooner kill one of them to feed myself then I would another person.

I was about to say the same thing... Do you remember that guy who got lost in Alaska and starved to death? His name was Christopher McCandless and a film was made about it. It's called Into the Wild and it was directed by Sean Penn, who had a kind of obsession with the story. There are some interesting articles about it in the references section. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Christopher_McCandless I read that book and got so angry while reading it. It was a huge wank, what a pretentious little snot.... My thoughts exactly

Totally agree. What, he couldn't catch fish? Set a snare for rabbits? Eat moss or berries? I wouldn't have killed the dog. I should rephrase, I couldn't kill my dog in that situation.

Registered Breeders And Selling Unreg Pups
Bjelkier replied to pepe001's topic in General Dog Discussion
I know a breeder in NSW who sells a few litters unregistered every now and then. They'd be screwed if DOgs NSW knew how often they bred their bitches....cant bloody prove it though so there isn't much we can do about it. -
In this case yes I would return the dog.

Hi bumbleb33 I can't say I know anyone with puppies at the moment and many of them have waiting lists. Best thing to do is contact a few breeders you like the sound of and wait for their next litter. You could get lucky and only have to wait a short time. Have a look at the breeders here: Samoyed Breeders

It;s just the brand name. I have Samoyeds and Havanese ;)

I use a Greyhound one too. Very good

Just to clarify above info more... to have a dog registered as a Neuter, it still has to go on Mains Register first, there is only one Mains Register, not a separate Mains for Neuter. So still via the breeder. The adjustment to Mains Neuter comes once mains has been achieved, via additional application, but perhaps they can be done at the same time?? However, if Bjelkier means that the breeder may be more likely to allow the dog to be shown as a neuter than an entire and if so she may allow the upgrade to Mains, then yes that is possible. That said, the criteria/Breed Standard for showing a dog is the same for a neuter as it is for an entire, except for the testicles on the males. Yes that's what I was getting at ;)
-
Like the others said, you need to go back to your breeder and tell them you want to show your dog. I've had a dog moved from limit to main after speaking with the breeder, so it's possible they will say yes but at the same time they could have put the pup on limit for a good reason. You might be able to have your dog put on the neuter mains and show them that way.

Have they looked at a Havanese? That breed would suit quite well from what you have described
-
I'd go with your heart. What breed really 'speaks' to you?
-
I agree with the others that this is so sad. Out of the six dogs I have currently only one has a health issue and he's from a very well known puppy farm (before I knew better) The others, all pedigree, well bred animals are very healthy. No wonky knees, elbows, eyes issues or allergies here.

Yeah she came on heat early and I wasn't organised enough to have a backup dog. I am searching though. Thanks, I know it's a long shot My girl was a month and a half early too otherwise everything would have been there and ready. Good luck
-
I've been in a similar position myself with my last litter, semen was MIA and my girl was ready to go. However I'd planned for the worst to happen and had a couple back up dogs ready and waiting from similar lines to the semen I had purchased. I ended up doing a 6 hr round trip in awful weather to get my girl to the dog but it was worth it. If you're able can you get the bitch to the dog? I my case this was impossible as the dog was in America. It might cost a bit but it is worth it if you really want those lines. Otherwise its time to be sitting down with your pedigree and your computer and start googling lines you know will suit your girl and start making calls to other breeders/owners. You might just get lucky. Posting on here...don't know how far that will get you to be honest. You need to contact the people who have the dogs directly.
-
Not really. The only one that ever really got to me was a woman who emailed, then called and did everything right until I got another email from her saying she didn't want to wait for a puppy so she got one from a pet store. She also added that she will continue to contact me with questions about how to raise the puppy..... I haven't replied to her since. I have received some thank you from people and it's always come as a pleasant surprise

Samoyeds tend to do a lot of running, bitey face and what we call the 'bear attack' standing on their back legs and slamming each other with their front feet. They also talk a lot. It sounds like they're fighting sometimes they're so vocal. My Havanese plays like a samoyed so other havs tend to give him funny looks when they try to play with him

When I moved last time I had another pup on it's way. I simply told the estate agent who many dogs we had and that we'd be getting a pup on xxx date
-
I've always called to ask and then follow it up with an email. But that's me.
-
Ask before and I'd just call my property manager. They know you have one dog and if you have a good rental history you have a shot at getting another.

We have to keep our bin in the pantry fir just this reason
