  1. My girls get very excited and Matilda checks her puppies over from head to toe when she sees them.
  2. and that would be a blessing *nods*
  3. I'd need to see proof that they actually knew what they were talking about. There are a lot of people out there who have very firm ideas about what they want. Doesn't mean they know what they're looking for with my litter that they have only spent a small amount of time with.
  4. As a breeder I pick where my puppies go (unless I'm dealing with another breeder or exhibitor I know understands the breed). I get a good idea of what the puppy person is after and I pick the right pup for the home. I know the litter and the temperament of my puppies better than a puppy person does. And I expect a similar thing when I buy puppies from other breeders.
  5. Can you breed me a rare blue one?
  6. A mal's prey drive would be off the charts. It's not the prey drive I'd be worried about so much as the two breeds together. Both can be quite dominant.
  7. What about a Samoyed? There are a few in America working as assistant dogs. They're strong and easily capable of pulling in harness (my big boy weighs 36 kilo, my smaller male is 31). They would be wonderful with your daughter and mine all love Akita's and can deal with silly bouncy babies very well.
  8. My dogs have never bitten a person or each other but they have killed possums, birds, lizards and a snake.
  9. The local birds love it when I groom the Samoyeds. I watched a Magpie once collect the stray fur for its nest. They must have been some very warm chicks
  10. I walk/run mine separately. Each one is at a different stage in life, I have pups from 4 months to 10 yr old, crumbly oldies. For example I wouldn't run my 6 month old the way I would my 3 yr old who is training for his ET title.
  11. "But on Saturday night the suspected thief knocked on the family’s door, angry at being labelled “scruffy” by the online community and infuriated at the puppy’s behaviour." What a flipping nutter! Glad they got their puppy back
  12. Precious is so sweet! I'm a bit in love with the WSSD
  13. Wolf sleeps in the hallway, that way no one can go anywhere in the house without him knowing about it. Dante and Freyja sleep on the big bed next to me, Dany & Tyrion are on the end of the bed. Dresden is in his crate in the lounge room until he is toilet trained.
  14. Personally I don't think the Sibe was about to attack the little brown dog. It looked like normal Spitz behavior to me when interested in another dog. When it first met the little dog it's body looked fairly relaxed to me. I have found that many people and other breeds of dog can't read spitz body language. Their ears are very often erect and forward, tails are often up and over the back, roughs are naturally heavier, they're often vocal and they are known to pit their ears flat on their heads when when they're happy. The sibes reaction to the rat terrier seemed more concerning to me
  15. Try owning Samoyeds. I've never been out with the dogs and not had people come and ask about them. Children and men seem the most interested. I was stopped at the petrol station the other day by a young guy who wanted to know about Wolf. I've had bus loads of tourists stick their hands through my car windows to pat the dogs not once but twice. There are days I've not wanted to talk to strangers but being friendly and chatty gives pedgiree owners a good name so I suck it up.
  16. One of my pups was clicking in the hip, fixed up by the chiro and the clicking stopped. The dog has a great hip score now too.
  17. I'm not an expert either but they looked ok to me too. Have you taken the pup to a chiro? Puppy might just be a little out somewhere. It's the first thing I would be doing in this situation.
  18. Never but I do browse litter notices from around the world, so I guess that's a similar thing
  19. Good post. Why should everyone have the same opinion? Not the point of any public forum, corporate meeting or situation in life where you are given the opportunity to speak. :) No need for people who disagree to be unpleasant but then that's what the world is coming to these days. I agree. Great post I'm with you guys.
  20. Sorry but my dogs are like my children. If my OH was to eat one of them in such a situation I could never look at him the same way again and quite frankly I don't think I'd stay with him. And I just asked my OH what he would think if it was me that ate the dogs and he was horrified and said a very similar thing to myself. I could not move on from that.
  21. I have to say my boys never mark inside and I have four entire males and one neutered one and they're much easier to train and pick things up much faster than the girls. But that might just be my breed lol
