5 + hours without a dryer. 1.5 to 2 hours with a dryer

My black cat still hates every dog we have and I don't see that changing any time soon.

My samoyeds are fantastic swimmers, even with their big coats and the boys aren't worried about going in to swim among the waves The Havanese haven't been to the beach yet but my parti boy loves water and will climb in the wading pool. He'll be at the beach this weekend. I'm looking forward to seeing how he likes it.

I've had both breeds and personally I found the Goldie a much better fit for what I was after, mine was far more quiet, affectionate and intelligent than my Lab. But this is just my experience, other people will no doubt have different opinions. Everything important has already been said. Research your chosen breeds, meet breeders and their dogs, be honest with yourself about what you can really offer the dog and be willing to wait for the right puppy. I've waited years for the right dog at times and others weeks.

God knows what you think of the horse exhibitors in long boots, tie or stocks, black jackets and velvet hats. No one is forced to "dress up" but some choose to dress to a higher standard to show respect for the judge and to showcase their dogs. To each their own. I'm certainly one of the suit brigade. If people think I look stupid or ridiculous, I'll still sleep at night. I also have quite a few suits and I enjoy dressing up for shows. I rest my case Well that's rude. HW you always look lovely in the ring.
-
Why anyone, handler or judge would wear something short while in the ring is beyond me. They should dress comfortably and nicely. It's not hard, the rest of us manage it lol DD - I for one like how much effort we put into our appearance for shows and have a closest full of beautiful suits and dresses. If others think I look ridiculous so be it but I like being well presented in all I do.

Is this a reg breeder? Lord I hope not. I can inly echo what the others say. Don't do it, find a different breeder.
-
I fail to understand why anyone would get a dog and then complain about the hair......WTF did they think was going to happen? Shaving dogs is my biggest pet peeve. If you don't want to deal with moulting or grooming get a HAIRLESS breed, or a toy.

It's usually taken my samoued girls longer to train than the boys. It's just individual to the dog. He will stop. One of my sammys used to do it and he stopped eventually

My dogs kill far more wildlife then my cats do

We live on property and have always had semi feral hay shed cats ( desexed) and we've never had rst problems. They do a damn good job and far more silent than dogs

Question About Dogsnsw Prefix Fee
Bjelkier replied to kelpiecuddles's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ain't that the truth It cracks 4 figures for the out of state specialties! Tell me again why we do this? I have no idea. I just entered multiple dogs in the Syd Royal. Good bye money -
This is my old man Lestat. He'll be 11 in March. Poor old man is very weak in the rear, has cancer and is going blind but he still lives every day with joy

Question About Dogsnsw Prefix Fee

It's an annual fee. -
The bitch I leased for my last litter came to me just after she had been mated and although she weaned the pups quite early she didn't go back until they had all gone to their new homes.

I've been forced into putting a barricade around my garden to save it from the samoyeds (they weren't pulling out plants but they were sleeping on them) Good luck finding a good trainer. I'm sure someone on here will be able to help you and feel free to come and join us in the spitz thread. We'd love to see photos of your boy :)

Welcome to spitz breeds. They're wilful, intense and very full of themselves. So many of these breeds end up in rescue because of these personality quirks. I can only echo what HW says. You need a private trainer, don't muck around trying various different training styles. He's fighting back and nipping you, you need to get this sorted now! Letting him off the lead is very dangerous, he's a malamute and you already know he is not coming when called, every time you let him off and he ignores you he's self rewarding. Also don't use extension leads, you won't have the control over the dog you need if he decides he wants to go in the other direction. If you want to use a long line to exercise him use a long lead, not an extension one (trust me on this I've owned a Mal the pulled like a freight train! Extension leads are not your friend) While you're working with a trainer on the walking try doing obedience training with him around the house to keep his mind active and your garden safe! Also making up doggy ice blocks are fantastic for spitz breeds, they love to chomp on ice. I use empty ice cream containers and add water and sardines. Very popular. If he likes to dig you can also get a clam shell pool and fill one side with sand and the other with water. My sammys love that.

I would say my Samoyeds can think circles around a lot of dogs I've owned and known, including my Labrador. Sure the Lab is easy to train but he's not intelligent. Quite frankly compared to the Sammys he's a dumb as a box of rocks  poor boy Samoyeds have been bred for thousands of years to think for themselves. This makes them interesting to train and fascinating to live with. For example my girl Daenerys is a thinker. When she wants something I have she will bring me an item she believes is of equal value and place it in my lap. She then pokes whatever I have, telling me this is the trade. If I don't accept the trade she will take her item and find something better and try again. I certainly don't believe a trainable dog is necessarily an intelligent dog.

Your dog is a baby!! My samoyeds aren't finished growing at 8 months and they're quite a bit smaller then an Akita. For heaven sake stop stressing about the weight of your dog. He should end up correct for the breed, not some massive animal that doesn't look like an akita should because that's sounding like what you're after.

Do Your Dogs Watch T.v. (videos, Etc.)
Bjelkier replied to sandgrubber's topic in General Dog Discussion
Mostly mine ignore it. The occasional add or program will get their attention but it's rare. They do listen to music a lot though and each dog has their favourite band or song  -
I'd also fly for the same reasons the others have stated.
-
Doesn't look stressed to me. Looks more like a stubborn, opinionated Spitz giving it's owner the finger.

I had an issue with my Samoyed puppies growing way too fast. Switched them to Pro Plan adult and haven't had an issue since. My puppies don't get puppy kibble from the time their 8 weeks. It's straight onto adult. Certainly have your breeder look him over and I'd be switching kibble.
