  1. My heart just melted! She looks sooooo innocent. Awwwwww.
  2. I brush my dog's teeth almost everynight. We use a tiny bit of bi-carb each time. I don't really like the poultry-flavoured pastes and frankly I feel that bi-carb is generally safer since I also use it for baking and cooking
  3. Mine has been on chicken necks/wings for 7 years. On rare occasions he regurgitates them and eats them back again. He also has a bad habit of "drinking" his necks. *cross fingers touch wood* he has been normal on that. I am more worried about chicken wings actually.
  4. I am so sorry Jules. I won't be able to cope in such a situation too. Please hang on strong and follow your instincts. *hugz*
  5. Such a huge relief! Bubby must be missing home now.
  6. Hey Bub, before you even know it, your little baby will be home bouncing away again. He won't even remember much of all these that has happened. It's us, mummies, who live with the nightmares.
  7. Bub you hang on there okie. Such things happen all the time. My little nephew (human) also had to go through something like that when he could not pass motion for days.
  8. *hugz* Bub and the Bub Dog. I hope that the enema worked well. Such things happen so it's just one of those "life experience" thing we all go through.
  9. I brought my dog to John The Vet too! Great vet who explains issues properly and actually does not promote invasive and unnecessary procedures.
  10. 2 times a day. But he sqeezes everything out if he is out at the park....sometimes mushy piles my OH calls "unbaked" poo. My dog is fed 2 times a day. He does one time when he wakes up in the morning...and another time right after dinner.
  11. My dog is on EP Holistic (variety of flavours, depending on what I can find in the store) in the morning and raw meaty bones at night. You can always buy them a packet then return if your dogs don't like it...that is what the Petstock staff told me. But my dog will hardly reject anything edible---rubbish truck I have here. Yah if you feed just EP Holistic your dogs might lose some weight----my dog did that when he was sent to boarding with just EP Holistic. He came home rather thin after just 10 days.
  12. Oh dear the burn looks horrifying painful. Poor thing. I wonder if there is a certain protocol about using heat sources like HWB...it looks way too dangerous now.
  13. I sleep hugging my boy so I can't risk smelling icky when I wake up! I used to wash my dog once in a few months and dad commented once that I smelt awful and probably did not realise it! So now I wash him weekly---but the weather is so cold now so I do it less.
  14. Hi Moosepup, My girl took months to recover from the weird "burn". It might also be partly due to her ill health--she had terrible kidney/bladder stones and had skin mites and fungus as well. The wound eventually healed leaving a very small mark. I also depended heavily on alternative treatment then and neem powder was applied to her wound everynight. The funny thing is the dogs might not feel any discomfort to it. Just make sure that when it crusts over no pus is accumulated underneath. Your vet will be able to pull the crust should it hinder any healing. Moose's wound looks very very similar to my girl's. I know it was not a burnt mark..it was a chemical reaction under her skin--because it was so leathery and weird. Her skin just cracked up and became leathery. Then subsequently a crust came up and that was when my troubles started.
  15. My dog has one and I brought him to the vet. He drained it to check the liquid inside and did warn me that the cyst/sernoma might just fill up again. Well it did. It has been months and the little lump is still there. Vet is not concerned and told me to get him in for more checks if the lump changes in size.
  16. I think I will order it. So happy when I read my email this morning But i have 2 full bottles of ear cleaners :p
  17. I use the good old bi carbonate of soda to brush my dog's teeth. Just a tiny wee bit on a baby toothbrush.
  18. OMG that must be one hell of a painful experience. Glad that At is okie.....boys will always be boys
  19. My foster girl (RIP) has that sort of "burn marks" after her op as well. It caused a huge tear right across her back (she was a very tiny mini schnauzer). Hair fell off leaving just a raw red dry patch. The skin was smooth and leathery and rather scary looking. The vet who did the op could not understand what happened and had to call her lecturer here in Melbourne (we were not in Australia). They had no idea what caused the "burn" but treated it as a burn. The healing took an awfully long time because the skin eventually crusted over and pus formed underneath. My bro (who is a human dr) had to visit us daily to help me clean up her wound and try to cut off the crust. Till this day, I have no idea what caused it. The vet who treated my girl was equally miffed.
  20. I have not vaccinated my dog eversince he was a pup--he had his puppy shots and on the 2nd vaccination he contracted Parvo Virus that almost killed him. At 6yrs old I had no choice because I was bringing him over to Melbourne and the quarantine requires full vaccination prior to shipping. I am now caught in a dilemma because if I were to travel I need him to stay in a boarding kennel that requires C5. His annual booster was due in March this year... :D I last travelled in Jan so he was still accepted in the kennel. I just feel kind of unsafe pushing the cocktail of viruses into his body. I do't even take flu shots myself.
  21. It's like the flu in dogs I reckon. Little to prevent because it is so contagious and a dog's own immunity works to get through it. I alwasy believe in dosing Giggles with a tiny bit of Vit C. I buy sodium ascorbate powder and sprinkle it onto his food. I suppose Vit C helps.
  22. Giggles ate up 1/4 of the family sized packet. I suppose I am just over-reacting because he had never taken chips before. Good to know that they generally are fine with chips. Phewwwwww. I almost lost him to chocolates before so it kind of frightens me whenever such things happen.
  23. He managed to flip the foil inside out to lick the salt off. But he didn't eat the package though. I am just so angry with myself for not putting the package away safely. He did drink half a bowl of water since he ate the chips. I suppose he got thirsty from the salt. He ate his dinner with gusto as well. I would have fasted him if I had seen the eaten chips but my FIL did not bother to tell me. I am jsut so angry.
  24. I am so angry with myself for not keeping my left over packet of Doritos away. My dog managed to lay his paws on it and ate up about 1/4 packet of it. The foil was totally licked clean. Do not have any slippery elm at the moment so I gave him some psyllium husks (he happily gobbled up the soaked husks). Should I be worried? What are signs of discomfort I should look out for? I am worried about the salt content.
