  1. My dog loves my panty-liners too. He once took a few of my used ones and placed them all in his bed. Father-in-law found those when he went to play with dog after we fetched him from the airport...we were mortified! Not the best impression ---- reminds me of the libra pads advertisement on tv now
  2. Ohh just ignore the ignorant "breeder". I have had enough of such remarks also. It is funny how people allow their dogs to balloon beyond a comfortable health weight then rant off at us who manage to maintain our dogs' "svelte" figures.
  3. Coal Tar/charcoal soaps from natural health shops might neutralise some odours. They are not awfully expensive as well.
  4. She did look like she was herding in the 2nd pic! Of course I have no idea how herding should look like but Bronte looks impressive from the pics.
  5. Great news to hear that Wolf is doing better. Awww are they leaving so soon? Krislin, you will miss them so much. I really do hope to meet a travelling herd one day. Wishing them a smooth and safe journey home. Will keep them in my prayers.
  6. Isn't it way way cool to have camels around! How exotic...really hope that the unwell camel recovers. Pagan must be so impressed with camels! How sweet. Yes I saw the camels around at the Pet Expo. I am so glad many children got to see such fantastic creatures.... Actually the travelling herd is really fascinating....I wonder if I will ever meet one in my lifetime!
  7. Yes I love the flyball demo! I bought this new brand of aussie made pet treats..high grade meats with herbs...I can't remember the name now. Kept the packets high up in the cupboard when I came home. My ILs bought the long stripes of candy from the stall outside...sour candy or sorts...not too bad..nom nom nom
  8. How do DOLers identify themselves to other DOLers? If anyone sees a mad grinning asian-looking slightly pregnant woman that's me.
  9. I want to go tomorrow but it is our reunion dinner (Lunar New Year). I will probably slip out to caulfield on sunday.....can't wait to see all the wonderful doggies again. I just love Pet Expos I hope I don't grin like a mad person as I did last year..people might think I am a looney because I just kept smiling at all the dogs
  10. Both OH and I always say that! We are both totally smitten and hooked on our dog. We have to "ration" for his love at times :D
  11. I don't have a cat but if I should ever own one, I don't think I will feel safe for my cat to be loitering around on it's own in the day. I have seen cats dashing across the busiest roads and stirring dogs in their yards. It's just so traumatic. I don't think it is evil to keep a cat indoors right? My cousin used to keep 2 indoor cats. There are snakes and other dangers outside so she kept hers indoors with full run of the house and a lot of toys for entertainment. I think trapping the cats and then sending them to the pound is a safer option. At least you know the cats are alive and not being ripped apart or something.
  12. Naomi I am currently pregnant with my first human kid and yes, I was worried about having my 8 year old dog coping with a newborn. But it takes effort to make sure they get along and my OH and I are more than prepared to make the transition as smooth and positive as possible. I wake up on some nights crying (hormones I think) and worried about having to spend less time with my dog. He is with me 24/7 and I really really really love him so much. I have to tell myself it is possible to have our quality time together even with a baby along the way Many DOLers have great skin kids and furkids...it will work out fine! WHen you are ready you will be ready. I am still a CDL and I think I will be one till my toes turn. I hope that my child will have a lot of love for our dog and future dogs too
  13. My dog is my life. I am without an identity with no dog . My family's main worry is that I will love my dog more than my human kid..which is unlikely. Both of them are my kids, one born from the heart the other the womb.
  14. Love it so much! Yes the rocking horse is soooooo cute! Amazing doggie and owner
  15. Awww spoilt little Faith...she gets fed while watching TV...what a character But you seriously cannot NOT give her special rights in the house and tv.
  16. I was shocked when I realised my "cornstarch" from COles was made from wheat. I check and re-check the packaging these days :D I use cornflour to comb out my boy's beard. Not to prevent matting but more to make it look "whiter". I also use cornflour in replacement of ear powder..to assist in pulling out the oily ear hair. I have not heard of cornflour assisting with knots and matted hair. Let me know if that works...thanks!
  17. Bum sores always sound nasty. Hope Bianca recovers in no time. My SIL's schnauzer has very engorged anal glands and I used to help the dog squeeze his glands when I was available. They bring their dog to the vet/groomer every few months. The dog is fed the exact same diet as his half-bro and the half-bro has no such problems at all. Some dogs are just more prone to engorgement...are you confident to squeeze the glands every few months?
  18. Anything but garlic. He spits out bits of garlic if it ever "accidentally" lands in his mouth. He goes mental over durians...
  19. Poor dog must have been so frightened during the drift...all alone and not knowing what is happening. There is a fairy dog mother there helping the crew spot this poor little thing...Ohh I am just so happy he is rescued.
  20. My dog WILL take off after the girl Parents should not take such things as a joke..what if an accident happened...placid dogs might give chase because of the frenzy the girl went into. Geeze
  21. This sends me crying everytime I read it, no matter how many times I have seen it. I wish for every single pet owner to realise how a pet thinks.
  22. Dogs are extremely strong creatures..they adapt well to changes in environment. I am shocked at my own dog's behaviour when he had to stay in the Quarantine Centre for a month. I had no choice but to fly him in from the tropics to freezing Melbourne. He took a flight, checked into quarantine and then screamd his lungs out when I had to leave after our first visit. I cried and cried when I heard him screaming for his mummy. But the kennel ladies there noted that he ate really well, was happy sitting under his heated lamp and went out for the occasional bark. After a week or so, he adapted. He would see me go off and then run back to his little room to sleep. I gave my dog a little bed with my towel in it. A month will wheeze by before you know it. My dog sleeps with me too...so I know how you feel. It will be over before you know it..don't worry alright. In boarding kennels the dogs are generally happier and I am very sure they all speak the same language....unlike quarantine centres where all of them had to first fly in and go through the hassle of paperwork You can always visit and bring yummy treats or get a friend to visit with yummy treats.
  23. My heart just melted...such a pretty and smart girl...awwwwwww
