I have metal food bowls and Id wash them in the dishwasher (with out our dishes in it) before I did the clean cycle. My dogs ate inside though unless they had bigger bones.

Eza - can I suggest NOT for your new puppy :D Hard crates for young dogs, soft crates for older, chilled dogs. Have a look at Vebopet online for a hard crate. Yes they are heavy but your pup won't tear it to shreds  Thanks TSD. Actually soft styled crates can work perfectly well for young puppies. It depends entirely on the intended crating application and on the owner, their time, commitment and plan. That said I always find out these things and many more before I would advise that a customer get one of our crates for a youngster or not. I am the first to suggest a steel crate if I don't believe the owner is up to the training and scenario required for a soft styled crate. For us it is all about the right tool for the job, not closing a sale. I have people thank us for advising them away from one of our crates if the situation or application raises any red or even orange flags for us. But a blanket "no way" is definitely not exactly right :) But Eza's puppy is a Dalmatian...I'm sticking with no way  Yes I can see this will be my new life challenge, keeping him contained when hes needed to be lol

How To Get A Response From A Reputable Breeder?
Eza replied to wimaly's topic in General Dog Discussion
When we (my husband, son and I) picked our breed I emailed 2 breeders local to me and had 1 recommended to me from a local acquaintance in another state. The 2 I emailed didnt respond and the 1 interstate added me to facebook. I was in regular contact with the one of facebook who was happy to answer breed related questions and was very helpful. 1st email never answered me. 2nd answered my email about 1 month later and after a brief discussion we arranged to meet at a dog show (in my state), which we did. It confirmed my breed choice. I emailed the breeder thanking them for the opportunity to meet them and their dogs but never received a response and at this stage havent followed them up. The interstate breeder has by far exceeded my expectation, in response to questions and offering information. I believe its a process of elimination, you just have to find someone that suits you and can offer what you need (a pup in this case). -
I never hesitate to spend what my animals need, over the years Cooper had an abscess drained and then when it returned 6months later we removed the offending tooth, then when he passed away (a lot of years later) his cremation and return was over $300. Anna was on a weekly tablet, they were $30 every 6 months. Plus she had yearly blood tests to make sure they were working ($150 from memory). When she passed we used a different service but it was about $150 for her cremation. Im not sorting life for a new puppy and havent even stopped to think about the costs of setting up again.

Thank you, I think I wont worry about the pads.

I want pup to toilet outside. Is it worth me getting puppy pads to start with or just straight into going outside to pee? Ive never used them with my previous dogs but they were 'outside dogs' mostly with other dogs around, new pup will be on his own (no one to copy).

As I now know Im getting a pup I want to focus on my training techniques, its been over 10 years since Ive had a puppy. With a few weeks to study up, Im hoping I wont break it Integrate pup into family (eager Mr 4) Complete crate training (breeder starts this) Have fun together Toilet training Socialization/desensitizing to animals; chickens, horses and children are the ones I can find locally Camping trips, hubby is eager for this and has already booked one for October. Recall Sit Drop Stand Train "outside' command Alone time training. I work so I want to encourage play time on his own. Lose lead walking, being he is a bigger dog than Ive previously owned I want to gain his trust walking while hes young.
