He just had a Suprelorin 12 implant today. So in 2 weeks time his testosterone levels should have dropped to zero. Maybe he'll stop listening to his balls and start listening to me again

Barkly is nearly nine months old and I think he's going deaf. I think senility is also settling in. He used to have such a great recall. "Barkly Come" - and he'd come running no matter what he was doing. Now - 1/2 the time he doesn't hear me, the other 1/2 the time he looks at me, then goes back to what he was doing. The other 1/2 of the time he starts coming, then decides to veer off and smell that tree. I realise that's three halves  Back to the long lead for you Barkly. Back to Really Reliable Recall DVD for me. *end rant*

A catchlight is the little sparkle in the eye (usually reflected light from a window, flash, the sun etc..)
-
It's a bit messy - I could probably consolidate down to 3 layers or so layer 1 darkens and adds the soft focus effect (masking out some areas to lessen the effect where I want some extra sharpness), layer 1 copy is a duplicate of layer 1 to increase the amount of the effect. The curves layers brighten or darken or change contrast on selected parts of the image (curves 2 and 4 actually don't have any effect, the mask is all black, I could delete those layers). Layer 2 removes a tiny bit of gunk from his eye Layer 3 adds the catchlight Brushsharp M2 adds some sharpening to his face

I often go through particular post-processing phases:

This afternoon on the letter box:

If only I had shares in the company! I'm sure Archie will love it!

I have just added Advance Puppy Rehydratable, soaked in chicken stock (created from boiling chicken breast (also used as treats)).
-
Thanks! In the previous shot, I was lucky to shot off a frame before he sprinted down to the beach!
-
Something a little bit dramatic... It's always hard to know what they will look lilke on other peoples screens. Hope it's not too dark for you...
-
Boiled chicken breast works well for me. and if you don't mind icky...diced raw ox heart. Also, I often mix Advance Puppy Rehydrateable with the chicken breast or ox heart. The Advance puppy pixs up the flavour of the chicken (or ox heart). My goal is to transfer the value of the chicken (or ox heart) to the Advance Puppy!!

Pet Shop or Vet for the bitter spray. Otherwise online. The Busy Buddy comes with 2 different types of hide. You can buy refills seperately. Type 1: Rawhide Washer Contents: Rawhide, Human Grace Glycerin, Non-animal Based Flavor Typical Analysis: Crude Protein: 60.24%, Crude Fat: 0.07%, Moisture: 15.99% Dietary Fiber: 0.62% Type 2: Cornstarch Washer Contents: Cornstarch, Rice Starch, Human Grade Glycerin, Wheat Gluten, Non-animal Based bacon Flavor Typical Analysis: Crude Protein: 0.5%, Crude Fat: 0.2%, Crude Fiber: 2.0% max, Moisture: 13% Barkly loves to chew his Busy Buddy - even without the RAW hides. It's his favorite chew toy. I think he fell in love with it when it had the hide rings in it, now he loves the white nylon end bits. I do put a hide ring it it for special occasions
-
He is teething so the desire to chew is going to be irrestistable It's not necessarily boredom. Dogs chew. Teething dogs chew a lot! I'd try some bitter apple spray on the door frames and get him some hide chews and some nylabones. Added: My dog LOVES this: http://dstore.com.au/pets/Busy-Buddy-Bounc...ge/2598834.html

Fat Fat Fat Help To Get Weight Off A Giant Dog
Luke W replied to Caesars mum's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Can't you just cut the amounts? Yeah, they are going to be hungry. Dogs should be hungry I'd be concerned about missing out on nutrition by substituting 'real' food for fillers. Slowly reduce the amount of mince until it's zero. Monitor the weight so they don't drop it too quickly. Alternatively, take them to your vet and get a vet's advice. -
What are they being given? eta: oops missed the name of the meds in the title

I'm no expert... I think 3/4 of a cup of food, morning and night is quite a lot for a 10 wk old, my 8mo old eats around 2 cups per day. Feed what the breeder says. I would gradually transition to a quality Puppy dry food, supplemented with some RAW food. Toilet training... It's about taking the dog outside lots of times! After eating, after drinking, after waking up, after playing...!!!! And not taking your eyes of it for a second! Have you scolded the dog for toileting inside? Maybe that's why it's sneaky. Be patient - your dog won't be completely toilet trained for months yet! Download and read this: http://www.siriuspup.com/beforebook.html

How Good Is A Dog's Eyesight?
Luke W replied to Garden Girl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I've been told dogs see differently to people. They don't see detail very well but rely on recognizing blocks of shapes. People look more like sillhouettes to them. They miss some of the finer detail. Their color vision isn't the same as ours either. It's very easy for them to miss a red ball on green grass. A white ball on green grass is much easier for them. Even a lighter colored green ball on dark green grass is easier. Also, their perception of motion is much better than ours. If you are standing still, they are less likely to recognize you. Start walking and they can immediately recognize your gait. -
You increase ISO when your selected aperture and shutter speed aren't providing enough light to the sensor. So say you want to shoot a fast moving daschunds at 1/1000 and you want to get it sharp from head to tail. You're going to need a small aperture to get enough DOF. Let's say you need to shoot them at f/16. At ISO 100 there's just not enough light, so you bump up the ISO. Here's a decent exmplanation of ISO, Shutter speed and Aperture. Forgive me if I've been too basic. http://www.photographyjam.com/articles/29/...perture-and-iso

Interesting question. AKAIK, IS will slow down the *initial* focus but shouldn't effect the tracking focus. Note: If you are shooting in continuous mode and 'panning' (moving the camera while you shoot) in any way, you should switch IS to Mode 2. My recommendation (for what it's worth)... At 1/800 and above, with a 70-300mm, turn IS off. Below 1/800 and moving the camera while shooting, IS Mode 2 Below 1/800 and not moving the camera while shooting, IS Mode 1. Note: Depending on how steady you are, you could substitute 1/800 for 1/500 in the rules above.

Can I ask what you mean by this? Do they attract the dirt or is my Spray'n'wipe multi purpose spay just not going to cut it in cleaning it. Do I need a special diamond encrusted cloth? Also is this a worth while filter: Hoya Super Pro 1 Circular Polariser? I've just read various comments about them being hard to clean: http://www.google.com/search?ie=UTF-8&...r+hard+to+clean I don't have any experience with the Hoya polariser (I think the PRO 1 D is the newer version for didgital). Personally, I'd probably go for B+W or if I had money to burn Singh Ray.

I have a pretty good "Go to your mat". I suppose I'd start with his mat inside the box then remove the mat. ?

:nahnah: :nahnah:  absolutely hilarious!!! is it the music, the bad tracksuit, the choreography? great 'back leg work' though!

Sharpness is due to soooo many factors. Even with my 70-200 2.8 IS and my 40D - I throw away many, many more action shots than I keep (oh-oh, secrets out).
-
That's actually quite a good filter. A little tough to keep clean. I use the B+W filters myself (trying to wean myself off them) - easier to clean.
