The lenses must be EF lenses. Manual focus FD lenses can't be used on your 450D (well, you can buy adapters, but it's not worth the effort).

Nope. For many reasons. I don't think it's reasonable to expect a refund because the vet failed to make a correct diagnosis. If there was no noticeable blood and no noticeable site specific reaction from the dog, I don't think you can blame the vet. Even if there was, I still think it's possible to miss something like this, especially if you're looking for something else. You saw the vet and was given advice. You got what you paid for. Do you even know for sure that's why the dog was limping? BTW - I'm not a vet.

I Want A Better Camera ....not A Better Salesperson
Luke W replied to redangel's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
When I first heard it was coming out I said, " oh gee, another camera that people are going to trip over themselves and waste money on." Then I did all the reading and now I want one. For us it means we will be able to add snippets of video to photo slideshows at weddings where they don't have a videographer. We're very excited I can see it being the first step toward really changing the face of wedding photography. And dog obedience youTube vids -

yes. This is why photographers build kits and if they change to another brand further down the track it costs them a fortune. Lenses are compatible from body to body within a brand. We currently have a canon 10D, 30D and 40D and will be purchasing a 5d mark II in a few months, all lenses work on these cameras and also work on 300D, 450D etc. btw - if you have small hands and want something light, try out the Pentax range How good does the 5D II look....drool. I just wish it had more fps. I'll be buying one soon too. Who knows, I might get into video! I can see myself putting obedience videos up on youTube! -
Oh well - look on the bright side. Many of the best photographs the world has ever seen were taken with non-L glass

Camera Not Focussing In Certain Conditions?
Luke W replied to Kirislin's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
There's some very interesting information about the Canon autofocus system here: http://night-ray.blogspot.com/2006/09/cano...nformation.html As for the comment about horizontal lines, it depends on which focus point you are using... Some focus points recognise horizontal lines, others vertical. The center focus point recognizes both. Here's an image of the 40D viewfinder: The center focus point recognizes both vertical and horizontal lines for focusing. The top and bottom focus points: vertical lines only. The others: horizontal lines only. -

Just a little tip to make it even better... When you've created your selection using the magic wand: Select, modify, expand selection...try starting with 3 pixels (how much will depend on how big the image is and how good the original selection was). Then Select, modify, feather...try starting with the value using in the first step - 1..so in this case...feather by 2 pixels. The feather amount should usually be 1 or 2 less than the expand selection amount. This will minimise the outline you see. Nice photo btw, happy people!

TLC - hair can be sooooooo hard There's a million different methods to isolate background and the best method depends entirely on the particular images. If you want to email me the full size original, I'd be happy to have a look and tell you how I'd attack it. PM me for my email address. One of the best resources for this sort of stuff is this book: http://www.photoshopmasking.com/

Barkly can stand now How I did it (troubles along the way). Started by using food to lure from a sit/down. Then closed fist over food. Open fist as soon as he stood. Then switched food to other hand. Now the closed fist is a hand signal. He was still touching my fist and shuffling at this stage. Move to a table and get him used to stand on the table with the 'fist hand signal' - still touching the fist. Shuffles eliminated - no room to shuffle forward and the side to side shuffle just slowly disappeared. Move back 6 inches from the table so he tried to touch my fist but couldn't because of the table edge. He now has a solid stand, no touching, no shuffling. Relocate to the floor. My hand signal for stand is now a quick 'punching down' motion with my right hand and a closed fist by the right side of my body. I have the verbal cue as well. Just for others who might find it useful.

Cool - I thought 8-10 months - arghhhh - I hope not. He's still pretty good at most stuff. Still learning new things, still top of his class at obedience school, heelwork continues to improve, still works with enthusiasm, etc. Anything else you'd suggest to get his recall back on track (or at least stop it from becoming really hard to get back on track when he's over this phase) ?
-
Seems pretty common around this age...it's just adolescence I guess. I appreciate your comments. I'm pretty confident about teaching and maintaining a recall. He's back on a long lead, he always get a reward when he comes, I try to avoid recalling him unless I'm 100% certain he will come, he doesn't get recalled for anything remotely unpleasant, he get's recalled and sent on his way, I do the backward runing, the excited squeels, I play the throw food/come back for food game. I've got Really Reliable Recall I deon't really expect the implant to have any effect on his recall (I can always hope though).

Here's the 'tennis ball': http://www.smittenpets.com.au/Planet-Dog-O...uff-Tennis-Ball Amazon seem to have a great range of Orbee balls...most of these I can't find in Australia. http://www.amazon.com/s/ref=nb_ss_gw?url=s...-keywords=orbee

Ahhh, you've taught him a 'chained behavior".. Jump Sit Treat Clever isn't he I'm no expert... I'd just go cold turkey, no more rewards for jumping. When he approaches, issue the 'sit' cue straight away. If he sits without jumping, jackpot treat. If he jumps, "ahh", turn around, walk away. Eventually, try fading the 'sit' cue.

18-20 months ?!?!?!?!?!?!

oh no - he's an adolescent... the man is probably going to shut down my website.

Congrats Claireybell, Jodie and Jesie!! I bet they enjoyed their lambshanks!

Obviously I'd be interested too - I don't care if the thread gets OT.

Thanks Jules. Can you see me walking down the park with a pocket full of chicken necks?!?!? I will!

You got an implant too? That's 3 of us here on DOL that I know of. Going well?
