*sigh* Off to the vet today.
-
Maybe there's an underlying problem. While we were away - he developed an irritation in that eye (he did have staining before that though). He started rubbing that eye and the fur around his eye disappeared. The vet (not my regular vet) suggested some sort of dermatitis and gave me some antibiotics and come cortisone cream. He quickly stopped rubbing the eye and I think the hair is slowly growing back. The tear stains are still there and seem to be getting worse. I think that the stains around his lip fold are getting worse too (same side as his eye stains). I've seen Angel's Eyes on the net - but it's expensive! Several hundred dollars in the first few months. ps - the fur around his eyes is clipped very short.

Suggestions for tear stains on a cocker? He's got tear staining on one eye, not much, but noticeable. Should I wipe his eye regularly with someone? Is there anything I could use to remove it? Anything that will stop it from reoccurring?

I'm sure sure others would have better ideas. The only thing that comes to mind for me is: 1. Don't drop stuff 2. Teach "Leave it" 3. Don't chase him.

Thanks Helen! I think I over did the editing on the one running with the ball. The bridge is a little foot bridge in a little park called Thompson Street Reserve in Coffs Harbour.

I prefer the look of my cocker's coat, rather than the clipped look I see at the park...I'm happy to put in the 10 minutes a night effort I'd be an unusual pet cocker owner though

you're not in Melbourne are you? PM me if you'd prefer.

Pulling our the hair is called 'hand stripping'. Some people also use latex gloves. Most people just clip the head with clippers. I don't cut the hair between the toes, I just cut it level with the pads so he doesn't skid around to much on my floorboards.

Thanks for the feedback everyone (esp Monelite and RottnBullies for telling me what they don't like!)

I don't think it makes you a 'purist' you just have different tastes to me Which originals do you like better (and why) ? I'm curious. I can see how some people might think I go overboard on the post-processing - sometimes I think that myself!

The same ones who use polarizers and ND grads? Soft boxes and beauty dishes? Or let the camera adjust contrast and apply gamma adjustments? Dodge and burn in the darkroom? Or crop just so? Let them come!

Thanks for the replys, I wil have a go in light room and see how I go. do love light room and havent used ps at all since starting with it. But I usually only tweak the exposure and the temp, the clarity and the blacks. and depending on the pic a bit of vignetting. so very basic edits but they do make all the difference. The only way Id know how to change the sky color in PS would be to select the sky and change the color that way which looks a bit dodgy. Wil have to give it a try and see what happens. Luke You must really love your editing software. Your pics are always awesome, but I cant believe you dont use lightroom. Have you tried it?? I never really got into Lightroom. I have used it very briefly. I use Adobe Bridge CS4 plus the RAW processor. It's very similar to Lightroom. I've used Photoshop since way back when, used Bridge as soon as it came out - I've never felt the need to change to Lightroom. The RAW processor in CS4 serves the same function as the RAW editing in Lightroom. Do you use all the cataloguing functionality in Lightroom or do you just use it's RAW processing and image editing functions? I've considering changing my workflow to Lightroom to add the cataloguing and keywording functionality but I don't don't enough photos nowadays.
