Aren't they gorgeous!!! I am very impressed, they are little chubbies, aren't they! Congratulations! (Had no idea ACD's started off white!)

Just write that person off as someone to take seriously... ... or tell them to take up with this guy:

When I finally had my two imported Poms here at home with me, I used my nail clippers on them - and knew at once that they were not used to it. Their eyes went wide, and they were very unsure about it - flinching each time, and by the last couple of nails I could barely do the dog's as he was starting to really resist - so of course ended up cutting the last nail too close and drawing blood. The next time, it was a disaster - the dog in particular went bananas as soon as I tried to clip his nails. So, I just went down and bought a Dremel, came back and set it up, picked up the dog and after an inital nervousness (along the lines of "are you sure that is the Dremel, and not Those Torture Implements Of Doom??") was able to dremel his nails with only minor difficulty. Raally - it is that different for them. And my new pup is adjusting to having his nails dremeled too - again, initial crankyness, and I am careful not to have the setting up too fast or hold the nail against it for too long or it gets way too hot. So I am a convert!! Truly the best money I spent!

Puppies at one week: And the second girl was less obliging for her photocall, and decorated herself (and me) liberally with a huge poo... no photos for her, back to mum to be cleaned up ;)

Congratulations!!! Interesting about the tail... I am assuming you mean she has an incomplete tail?

Awesome - that is a relief, after my cat developing the cancer over a month or two I was worried on the Wonderful Whippet's behalf. Thankyou, Stormie!

So I met this Whippet about five months ago. Absolute sweetheart (aren't all Whippys?) and really rather elderly... I think when I asked I was told eleven years old. Anyway - so I saw this Whippet again a month or two later, and whilst fussing over and patting it noticed that the twin bulges on its back over the arch of its loin were larger - I had noticed them last time, but it was a tiny bit on the heavy side and I had not thought much of it. I asked the owner if she had thought about taking Wonderful Whippet to the vet to be checked and she was a bit defensive and laughed it off. Anyway, a month ago I saw Wonderful Whippet again. It had obviously been to the vets, it had had skin tags removed from many places. The lumps over its kidneys were huge - I mean standing up from line of its back by the depth of my hand placed flat on its back. And they rectangular - I was a bit concerned when I saw them, and asked what the vet had said about them, but it was the babysitting grandmother who was there and she said as far as she was aware the vet hadn't said anything about the lumps on its back. So I am still wondering... mainly because I had a cat that developed kidney cancer and it manifested as really big lumps over its kidneys. Are there other conditions that cause these strange "saddlepacks" over their kidneys?

Daisy has been very good re food and hydration. Low-salt chicken stock has been her beverage of choice (plain water? for MOI? Ma NON.), she ate a small dinner last night and hoovered a chicken wing this morning. She has had two voluntary breaks - followed me out after I checked on them - and was screaming with excitement the whole time!!! It was really funny (once I got over the shock of thinking she was screaming because something was wrong  ) and I was quite happy to join in and so we both went out the back and told the other dogs what a clever girl she was at the top of our lungs She kindly kept her placenta poo until whe was outside... I once again very glad humans don't feel the need to follow canine mode of mothering...

Wow - so glad I bought a heat lamp, has made a huge impact on how hot Daisy was getting... that luscious fur coat of hers was making her awfully hot, poor girl. But the lamp is reducing her heat, and the babies are congregating under the lamp when they are full. Oh, yeah, mastitis... so tired after the last couple of nights it is awesome to have other people to think for me

Oh dear, that sounds embarrassing Just puppyness, and Pomness mixed in, maybe? I got a LOT more respect from Jester when I pinched his muzzle as he tried to savage my hands, little ratbag. Along the lines of biting your toddler back as a last resort. I did have to do it twice, maybe three times - hard enough to make him back off quick, not hard enough to be mean: he has learnt not to bite and since I combined it with "Ah-AH!!" each time, he now pays attention quick-smart when I use the verbal cue.

Thankyou, Verhexen and LOTG! Anything I should be thinking of right now? Other than outrageous registered names lol
-
Aw, they are chubbly bubbly Labbies!! Love the wrinkly little cankles! They look really helathy, Tapua, she is doing a great job with them

Daisy had a wonderfully easy time whelping four pups this morning - was nesting all night, had the first one 6.37am, last one at 8.04am. Number one was a WHOPPER and was feet first - 159g, and orange and white just like his mum! Number two was 122g and a tri girl.* Number three is the second tri girl.** Number four was a surprise - thought Daisy had finished and was out of the room while Son #1 stayed with her, came back just as she popped him out lol. A little tacker at 98g, and has markings on his body and face that are identical to Comet's - mini me for Comet! All are going great guns, Daisy is dozing with them and they are quiet as mice so they must be filling up *YAY! Tricolour AND a girl!!! :D ** DOUBLE YAY! Another tricolour and another girl!!! :D :D

I am thinking the owners are having a sleep-in after their first good night's sleep since they got him He is gorgeous, Teebs - and I lol'ed when you said you would ruin someone else's puppy
-
Congratulations, Tapua!! They look wonderfully healthy, mum looks like she is about ready for a kip, too!!!

So, about nine days to go:
-
Oh dear - that is craptaculous... Personally, after having four children co-sleep with me I have mattress protectors, then a woolen blanket, then a biiiiiiig thick towel, then the sheet - and a bucket and facecloth ever-ready by the side of the bed. When they are actaully sick they also have a biiiiig thick towel on top of the sheet on which to lie - and they are not allowed to roll off the sheet and vomit on me or the bed - strict intructions ;) I feel your pain - I am sad for you
-
OMG!!! I heard puppy heartbeats today - and saw them kicking out on Daisy's tummy!!!! SQUEEEE!!!!
-
I would have liked to go up myself - but Son #2 is flatly refusing all options regarding babysitting and I guess if I am going to be doing this for the next 20-odd years, I can give him this show... But I have a prize to get up there... and if I can drop it off to anyone for them to get it up to the Pom Club peeps at Erskine Park, I would be eternally grateful!

Bwahaha!! Maybe she is a former beauty queen, reincarnated as an Aussie?

Perfectly delightful, Jackofhearts What a little beauty!
