  1. Really? They're your first? They are gorgeous! Can't wait to see when you try out HDR! I have been waiting for a good sunset around here with no luck. Hopefully soon as I'd lovveeee to take some piccies. Need to go buy a tripod asap tho haha...
  2. Beautiful!! Did you try any at diff exposures for the HDR?
  3. You may want to do something with your exposure but playing with the fill light, recovery, blacks and clarity is what will give you an HDR effect brigie bear - Photoshop HDR action sucks! The plug ins are much better as you've discovered. ;) I have a different PS plug-in to you but it produces some great results also. It does suck doesnt it!!! Which one do you use? I could tell you, but then I'd have to kill you. I use Nik Efex Pro - it has several actions but the 'tonal contrast' action is the one for HDR. when I get better at photography I may just look into it! ... and then run and hide in fear of you! :welcome:

  5. I had never heard of this before today lol! Just goes to show how much of a newbie I am the the world of photography... I had seen HDR photos before and always thought there were unreal but had NO idea of the process.... So today I tried it out... Granted I cheated though... Didnt have time/good enough conditions/tripod on hand to actually take photos in RAW with varied exposure so I just changed the exp in photoshop and had a play around... I also tried a free version of photomatix... (Hence watermark) Even though I "cheated" it was still fun to have a play. Here's what I came up with in the normal (i.e. before) photo, photoshop version and photomatix version... The source photos kinda suck anyway (just learning photography) but I'm sure one could come up with something brilliant with 3 RAW photos done properly! Lake Normal: Lake in Photoshop HDR: Lake in Photomatix HDR: River Normal: River Photoshop HDR: River Photomatix HDR: Car View normal: Car View Photoshop HDR: Car View Photomatix HDR: With like no tweeking on my part - other than generating the image and some teeny adjustments to the default's in the HDR conversions, its insane how the 2 different programs give SUCH different results!
  6. Brilliant! am off to learn now then go crazy snap-happy at the dogs.. I can just feel them rolling their eyes now hahaha! Will post pics once I'm done.
  7. Your photography is just gorgeous! I just cant seem to get there yet... I dont "speak camera" yet lol and am still learning what everything means but am SOOO keen to get some good shots of the dogs... Any tips on how you get such beautiful photos of yours?
  8. Yeah, I'm loving it so far! But then again, I dont know the difference hahaha! I am SO keen to get some lenses... A macro lens is my dreaaaam at the moment but I may just buy a $30 filter or extension tube for now lol.
  9. Like some of the others have said... Phhhooaarr! Lucky girl with both! Beautiful photography!
  10. Totally - SO much personality in the candids! I was going to get a 450d but for $500 less I found the 1000d in a twin lens kit... suited me fine cos I'm so new at it lol! I have been trying to learn those things - just so confusing haha! I still have to figure it out SO much better! My shots are all on manual but are just chance lol... I have NO idea what I'm doing but I figure if I have it on auto i'll never get it.
  11. This is stunning! Thanks! Was just a trial and error shot - first time playing with severe lighting in a dark room but it turned out OK... ^^ Love this one!! And thanks about my photos... I'll tell you hubby was NOT impressed at all. Was complaining the whole time but I told him no dinner unless he did it!!
  12. Good luck to you and Jarrah. He will be in my thoughts... xo
  13. Bahaha shell they're GREAT photos!!! LOVEEEE the 2nd one!
  14. OK I am a total newbie to photography but here are a few of my learning shots... I was jusy playing with settings so can;t tell you what they are (plus for the most part have nfi what they mean) Playing with light: (hubby OVER IT) Playing with close ups: Ruby and toy: Frankie's nose: Sophie: Hubby again: Flowers: None of them were edited.. Just playing with camera settings...
  15. Gosh I love Zero... Does he even take a bad photo? He's unreal!!! Will head there now to have a squizzzzz...
  16. Thanks! Aaah so confusing though! I am the ultimate noob when it comes to photography lol! ps- I think i put this in the wrong section?
  17. Hey All! I just got my first ever DSLR camera (Canon 1000d) and am just learning it all now... I am super keen to take studio photos of my dogs but wouldnt know where to start! I would love to to it relitively cheaply and at home using things I'm like;y to have laying around i.e. white sheet & lights I can direct at the "set". Does anyone have any tips, instructions, photos to share of your own pics from your home studio etc? Thanks!
  18. I never, ever leavy my dogs unattended eating bones of any sort... I know of many people who do, but personally i think it's very risky. I would give my dogs a frozen kong or treat ball to get them used to being alone (if need be) because it is much less risky.
  19. Ack! Just caught Ruby with come cat poo in her mouth from outside! I found the culprit! I ripped it out of her mouth so am sooo hoping she didnt get any down. I would NOT like another repeat of yesterday! Was truly one of the most disgusting things I have experienced!
  20. I would prefer not to install a dog door actually. Having the bell training thing would work much better for us.
  21. Hey All, I have recently decided its time to bell train our dogs... They never bark to go out or whinge or scratch, just sit silently at the door waiting. It would be much easier for all of us if we introduced the bell! Yesterday I went out and bought a bunch of bells and have attached them to some twine... But now what? I have an almost 4 year old poodle x rescue and an almost 3 year old maltese x rescue (who is most likely of the bunch to be afraid of the bell!) who are 100% toilet trained.... and I have a 6 month old Pom who is 80-90% trained (I say this because if she cant get outside IMMEDIATELY she just goes on the floor at the door.) Questions... -How do I go about training 3 different dogs to use the bell when they all go out at the same time? -What do I do with Frankie who is likely to be scared of the bell at first? -Do I ring the bell for them? Or do I somehow encourage them to ring it themselves? -Any other techniques? They are all pretty intelligent and all tend to pick things up quite quickly, especially if there is a treat involved and all shake hands on command (if this helps?) Any help/tips advice much appreciated! BB
  22. I dont have cats... But my neighbor has a cat who I am sure would come into my yard when I am not watching... Hmm... Very possible! She has also been known to take a sample of her own poo... but I monitor that and pick it up before she gets the chance, more than likely it was the cats. What a relief! When I saw it yesterday I was like "WOW, thats not right!" it was so awful!
  23. She seems totally fine! She did her regular poo last night, ate her dinner and her brekkie and has also done her morning poo this morning... No idea what it was but it was just awful... I'm still going to keep my eye on her during the day today just in case.
  24. How common is a bowel blockage and how likely is it that it could be that? Little worried now even though she's acting fine... Would she be acting fine if she had something serious like that?
