Don't know. Don't think it matters? This vaccine is supposed to override the maternal antibodies so the one he is has got/will soon get should cover him until he gets this one.... It comes in bulk and none of the vets I have spoken with will order it in for just one person.

Woody - short for Woodrow Woodrow Wilson 28th president of USA.....

What about a standard poodle? They don't shed, drool, are active and the ones Ive met are all good with kids. Or if you're after something more solid how about a rotti?

The media seems to want to call it a pitbull or pitbull x at the moment...
-
Doesn't look anything like a pitbull! Shame on the council who were told about a loose dog and did nothing. I reported two loose aggressive dogs wondering in my area and was told by the council that unless the dogs were contained they wouldn't do anything about it!!!!! Wishes to the people involved for a speedy recovery.

I am thinking of using the Nobivac DHP vaccine for my new pup but so far none of the clinics I have called in Eastern Melbourne use it. There was a thread on this back in '09 and clinics Middle Brighton and Newport apparently used it then but both are a fair hike so I was wondering if anyone knows of a clinic in the eastern suburbs which stock it? http://www.msd-animal-health.co.nz/products/nobivac__dhp/020_product_details.aspx

Whats his personality like? You could start by picking an ending to a name that suits his personality. Milly chose her own name - she looked up at me when I said it...that was good enough for me.

Report him to the police too. Dog or no dog the way he behaved towards you is against the law. You have a right to feel safe in a public place! "What the Law states - Obscene, indecent, threatening language and behaviour in public Summary Offences Act 1966 - SECT 17 Obscene, indecent, threatening language and behaviour etc. in public 17. (4) Where a person is liable to be removed from a meeting under subsection (3) the Chairman may verbally direct any member of the police force who is present to remove such person from the hall, room or building in which the meeting is being held or the neighbourhood thereof and the member of the police force shall remove such person accordingly. ETA This is Victorian - I imagine it would be similar in NSW -
Training Confusion
RubyBlue replied to Jordan Windebank's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
Shouldn't be too hard so long as all of your family are consistent in the re-enforcement Most training clubs allow for dual or family membership and it might be a good idea for all of you to join and train "occasionally" so that you all family members can take some ownership of his/her training. -
Whats wrong with 11 letters? I think "Warratinnah" has a nice ring to it and that you don't want someone else to take it makes it sound like the history behind the name is important to you.

Cute puppies Hears some more to make you all melt. This is Dyson :D

Much easier to do tracking with someone else then you can take turns laying tracks for each other. You can join the TCV and do a workshop or just join a group of people already practicing it. Tracking is usually done in the cooler months - saves snake encounters and is easier on the dogs. Tried to PM you but for some reason it didn't work......

I like Nino (but isn't that more Spanish). Have you asked the breeder his kennel name - sometimes they come up with some doozies and part of it may make a good call name. Also what about something to do with the Ferrari - given hes an Italian Greyhound or Ducatti - given hes a toy 'model'.

Soooo.....I read the other thread on this - and knowing the risk of losing my head, curiosity's still got the better of me :S Why are people here racing sibes and not eurohounds? They look so much better suited to our climate.....
-
Mines nearly 6 and just the other day submitted to two 5 month old golden puppies.....so embarrassing
-
Get her to say it on tape then report her to the police!

Welcome to DOL. There are lots of threads on here with similar questions so maybe have a look at some of the other ideas people have come up with. Personally I would be crate training (have a look at crate games) there are a lot more mental benefits than just teaching the dog to go into a cage. Also use distractions like toys and food - or food in toys - so she gets a reward for entertaining herself. Slowly build up the time - you want to finish her alone time when shes quietly doing something else Good luck.
-
Congratulations Names - where to start..... Maybe a theme or a short list then we can get our minds to work lol ...and pictures are a must :D
-
brilliant.... are they eurohounds?
-
If I use a strong laundry detergent on the dog bedding they turn their heads away in disgust....so I imagine it would prevent them from wanting to go anywhere near it.

Perhaps the op means three times 30minute walks?

http://www.geelongadvertiser.com.au/article/2011/11/08/289511_news.html "TWO dogs have died and another is recovering at a Geelong vet clinic after being poisoned in a Whittington backyard on Sunday. The vet treating the surviving dog believes the poisonings were deliberate. Dog owner Samantha Blackley yesterday said her husband, Brodie, had returned from work about 10.45am on Sunday to find the family's four-year-old kelpie and five-year-old border collie dead. Their 10-month-old great dane was convulsing, vomiting and close to death. "Brodie was yelling, 'The dogs are dead, the dogs are dead'," Ms Blackley said. Five months pregnant, Mrs Blackley said she helped her husband "wrestle" the 65kg great dane into their car. Your Say "What a disgusting and cruel thing to do. Dogs that are poisoned suffer a slow and agonizing death. The two breeds (of dog) killed are usually very placid and loving breeds. I hope the animal/s that did this get caught and publicly named and shamed!" Bill The dog, Duke, was rushed to vet clinic Best Friends Pet SuperCentre in Fyans St, where he was still receiving treatment, Ms Blackley said. Vet Robyn Blackwell said it appeared the dogs had ingested "some sort of stimulant", causing them to over-heat and have seizures. Dr Blackwell said she did not want to speculate on the "extremely potent" type of poison that might have been used. "But we've taken blood samples," Dr Blackwell said. She said she had seen a lot poisonings in her years as a vet, nearly all of them accidental. "But not this one," she said. "This was not an accidental one." Ms Blackley said she was away from her Wilson's Rd home for only an hour or so on Sunday morning, during which time the dogs were poisoned. Both Bindi, the kelpie, and Buddy, the border collie, weighed about 25kg, she said. "The only thing which kept Duke alive long enough to get to the vet was his size," Mrs Blackley said. The poisonings, which had been reported to police, followed an incident a few weeks ago in which the gate to the backyard was opened and the dogs got out, Ms Blackley said. On that occasion, Buddy had been hit by a car. A couple of months before that, the family had received an anonymous letter saying the dogs barked too much. "We took measures to try and address their barking," Mrs Blackley said. "And after that, we kept asking our neighbours if the dogs were barking too much and they kept reassuring us that they didn't bark any more than other dogs." Ms Blackley said she had not slept since Sunday and both she and Brodie were broken-hearted. "Those dogs particularly the border collie were like our children, we loved them," she said. Mr Blackley labelled the person who poisoned the dogs "a cruel, gutless coward". The family was facing a veterinary bill amounting to thousands of dollars, she said. Dr Blackwell pleaded with people who had problems with barking dogs to pursue the issue through proper channels, such as councils. "Poisoning and killing animals isn't the answer," she said. City of Greater Geelong manager of health and local laws Steve Sodomaco said the reported dog poisonings were now a police matter. He said the council was liaising with police as they investigated the matter. Mr Sodomaco said the council deplored the reported poisonings, and said the council's pet-friendly policies were designed to provide a variety of ways in which disputes involving pets could be resolved."

Perfect analogy - picturing it now....glad I didn't have anything in my mouth.
