Took possession of these little beauties last night... aren't they just totes adorbs? More coming... T.

Well... actually 10 arrived last night... lol! One litter of nine 7 week old Dingo cross who are simply adorable... and one single little Dingo cross girl who had been found wandering alone on the side of a road in Tennant Creek! I'd guess her age at around 7-8 weeks. All 10 flew from Alice Springs. Arrived at my place at about 6:30pm. Popped the 9 in my playpen in the granny flat with food and water, all food eaten, then they piled together and went to sleep like real little pros. The little single girl was still a little under the weather from her trip, so got a very small feed to see if it stayed down... gave her the rest a bit later. She's in a cage crate in my lounge room, so we had couch cuddles later in the evening, then I popped her back in the crate with a couple of large teddy bears, and she went to sleep and not a peep from her all night. Funniest thing was when we were feeding the 9 in the granny flat, Ghost (the fox) was carrying on from his pen, giving alert barks for a good 30 minutes... he loves dogs, and obviously worked out that we'd brought in a few newbies... lol! He won't be meeting them for a couple of weeks, but after that, we might see how they all get on in a controlled setting... The single pup will be picked up today by the rescue to be fostered elsewhere. She's a bit skinny and will need a bit more one-on-one care and attention. She's timid, but is willing to come and solicit pats if you don't make sudden movements or try to pick her up quickly... she'll come out of her shell just fine fairly soon I reckon. Other funny thing was Pickles meeting the single girl in my lounge room... both of them camp dogs... it was like a long lost family reunion... "hey cuz!"... lol! This morning, Harper realised that there are puppies in the granny flat... she's guarding the door to it now... all puppies here are hers you know! Once the frost goes from the back yard, I'll let the 9 out and get some photos... and start another thread for them, OK? T.

My money is on Secret... lol! T.

The Concord one is the one off Underwood Rd? If so, that's where my Woosie did her training before we moved to Riverwood... they were pretty good way back then... I went to St George a few times with Pickles, and they were really good about her mobility issues... and we learned that she CAN sit on command... lol! They were also amenable to training her on a harness, as she can't wear a collar due to the hypersensitive spots on her neck. The trainer I had spent a little bit of one-on-one time with each beginner dog too. Hawthorne were great for a few of my foster pups, even though it's really busy down there, but they managed to keep focus, and were amenable to the NOT giving food rewards if you didn't want to. They also used to allow you to join for free with rescue fosters. If you want to work with his attention during distractions, Hawthorne is probably the best place for that... and Sam will get to meet lots of dogs of different sizes all in the same place... and I mean LOTS! T.

I have 3 dogs and 2 foxes (they aren't allowed on the bed)... and have a litter of 9 seven week old pups coming for fostering tomorrow evening... I have missed the madness of having loads of puppies about... *grin* Let the madness begin! T.

Mary is one lucky goat to have you as her new mummy, that's for sure! T.

Loving seeing all that green stuff Perse! And I bet Mary has been partaking lots, by the look of her overall condition. Miss Molly has a new friend... lol! T.

None of the animals named in the article are listed as in any danger population-wise by the IUCN... http://www.iucnredlist.org/ ... in fact all of the ones listed in the article actually show populations increasing... ALL are protected species in most states, however... so permits must be sought to be able to stop them becoming a pest species... and thusly open to widescale killing... I agree with issuing proactive destruction orders to rangers in case they need to put down an animal in need of same - but surely some of the critters listed could have been trapped and relocated to areas needing a population boost? But that would cost a hell of a lot more, right? I'm not overly fussed on killing our native animals purely because they have become inconvenient to our human lifestyles... or any animals for that matter... T.

And Pickles will be 6 in September! Most of you remember when Pickles first came into care and I fostered her... and she never left... lol! From this... to this... T.

Hard to believe that the Horse Puppy is going to be 4 in September... From this... To this... T.

Back in my youth, it was normal to get a new puppy at 6 weeks of age. Dogs were also allowed to run free with us kids and each other after school... much more socialisation and acceptance back then... and if any of us kids got bitten, we were usually asked what we had done to deserve it... Times have changed so much - and I don't think all of it has been for the better of dog-human relationships in a societal sense... T.

If you need irrigation drains dug, he's your man though... lol! T.

In order for the experiment to work, the dogs will have to kill ALL of the goats... otherwise they'll just keep breeding and get out of control again... T.
