  1. I can see exactly where you are coming from... big hugs babe! T.
  2. Are you feeding a working dog type of kibble? Higher in fat and protein than regular kibble. Chicken with skin on, lots of small feeds, satin balls (http://www.instructables.com/id/Put-weight-on-your-dog-with-satin-balls/ instructions for making)... T.
  3. I think support services and free listings would refer to site hosting costs... and someone at PR to middle man any difficulties with the site - ie: trouble uploading, member sign-ups, etc... No idea about the professional makeover? Boosting profile possibly means that it will come up on the front page more often and the like... Free care guides are usually provided by the rescue adopting out the special needs animal, no? Not to mention that I could knock one up specifically tailored to a particula individual animal for a hell of a lot less... *grin* $500... mobile site? Surely a once off cost? Matchmakers Project? Huh? T.
  4. Well done Secret! You are still Number 1 to us... gorgeous girl! T.
  5. My local vet loves it when people return unused medications... he definitely passes them on free of charge to people needing them. T.
  6. Lucky the cat only bounced off you, rather than deciding that you were a safe "tree" to climb... errr! T.
  7. Smaller yards and less places where it's acceptable to take your pet out... it's definitely getting harder to accommodate a pet's needs, yes? T.

    Lola

Oh huga... biggest virtual hugs from me to you and yours... Remember Lola with a smile in your heart... she was a character, and has left you with so many amazing happy memories. Fly with the angels Lola... you were loved by many who never met you... T.
  9. Single adult, 3 dogs, 2 foxes, and foster animals rotate through too... *grin* I'm doing my bit... lol! T.
  10. Nawww... he is such a dapper little chappie... Please give him an extra kiss and cuddle from me... T.
  11. Great to hear that a resolution is in the offing shel...there is definitely room for both IMHO... and you are the best person for the job you've chosen... T.
  12. Would you continue to have volunteers doing the heavy lifting while you spend money on lawyers trying to get back something done by another volunteer? I agree that it's nice if people working for charities got paid. But it does start to cause conflicts of interest. Some charities are better at managing the perceived conflicts and actual ones than others. That's when you start to look at the percentage of income (donations) that go to caring for and placing dogs vs that which goes on admin and lawyers. I can think of at least one large animal welfare organisation that spends more on legal and advertising than on what they say they are all about... meanwhile utilising a huge volunteer workforce to do the heavy (and often heartbreaking) work on the ground... T.
  13. NSW has the Companion Animal Register - for microchip details, AND local council animal registration fees. The OP will also need to make sure that both are in their name, and current. The breeder, if interstate, is not responsible for either of those... T.
  14. In simple terms, the breeder has paid her state ANKC member body to register the litter of pups her dog(s) have had... and what you now need to do is to transfer that registration into your own name and with your state ANKC member body. The breeder most likely submitted all of her litter registration paperwork to her state body some weeks prior to getting them all back... the process can take some time to get it all checked and issued by the state body, and that's why the registration papers have a later date on them. The breeder has not misled you, or tried to rip you off... T.
  15. I think people should maybe stop and think about exactly what it has taken to build PetRescue into what it is today. 1. It is a resource provided for FREE to rescue organisations. 2. A lot of time and resources (which WE haven't had to pay anything for) have been put into getting the word out to the public about this one-stop site to find a rescue pet. 3. Most, if not all, of the startup and development of this resource was done by people on a volunteer basis. They may be reaping financial reward now, but the early years would have been very lean indeed... 4. PetRescue owns the resource, therefore THEY get to set out the terms of its use. Rescues still have a CHOICE whether they want to use this resource to list their animals available for adoption... we are all free to go about it on our own... *grin* T.
  16. Ummm... she's plenty happy with him in other areas so far... lol! T.
  17. Is Sandali as laid back and politically popular as his Taronga brothers? T.
  18. Check out those ears!! But he's still an incredibly handsome little dude, isn't he? I think he looks a bit like Sudi at Taronga... it's the cheeky face... which is interesting 'cos they share some of the same genetics, yes? Sudi being Sandali's little nephew and all... *grin* T.
  19. It's a pity that this has happened, as Shel is so passionate about, and has put so much research and effort into the Saving Pets project... I may not agree with how PetRescue is modeled or run, but it's still the largest and most well known resource for people to use to find a rescue pet. I may not agree with all of Shel's Saving Pets project tenets, but it's still early days there, and I reckon if anyone has a chance of making it work, Shel is the woman for the job. I believe there is room for both projects to run separately, each refining and strengthening their models... to make positive changes for pound/rescue animals in need. T.
  20. Don and Pudden... my fave boys... *sigh* T.
  21. OMG!!! She IS teeny tiny! ... but also dreadfully cute... *grin* T.
  22. ... goes out to the yard for a midnight snack on poo... then comes back and burps poo breath in my face. Harper and Pickles... I'm looking at you! T.
  23. My friend is feeding it to her 2 dogs - the low fat one - and they aren't losing weight... lol! Probably because she's also giving them My Dog tinned slops with it... *sigh* T.
  24. She has her Mum's eyes, doesn't she? ... and her naughty puppy antics remind me of some of the things her Mum got up to not that long ago too... lol! T.
