The adventures of Hailey, the Tassie Devil

We need a Love button.... how adorable are they? T. -
And another day with great company and awesome doggy cuddles... I'm truly enjoying the new friends (skin and fur) I've made through this forum... genuine people with the same love for animals as me... T.

Well thought out questions, and allows the participant a fair scope to explain their stance... well done! Would be interested to see the end result... T.

*blush* Thanks ladies... T.

I had amazingly gorgeous subjects, you have to admit... *grin* T.

She's the loveliest natured mumma I've ever met @animallover99 - and the babies have learned all her best moves to get pats and cuddles... hehe! The little light faced girl seems to have taken a shine to me also... wherever I was sitting, she'd trot over and sidle up to snuggle in close... not the easiest to get photos of when they do that... lol! She was the shyest thing a couple of weeks ago... now she's one of the most confident little munchkins... oh... and very demanding of tummy rubs! She is also a thinker... you can almost see her little brain ticking over when you stare into her gorgeous eyes. She's going to end up someone's heart dog methinks... she just has that aura about her. T.

... and one more just because... T.

Got me lots of cuddles today... ... and some photos... *grin* A day well spent methinks... lol! T.

Adoption fee "too expensive"
tdierikx replied to RuralPug's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Refer to a crossbreed by some fancy "breed" name and flog it for a motza on Gumtree... perfectly acceptable apparently... ... but refer to the same dog by it's breed mix and advertise it as a rescue, and suddenly it's "worth" less? I'm not comparing crossbreeds/rescues to purebred dogs from reputable and ethical breeders... apples and oranges as far as I'm concerned. T. -
Adoption fee "too expensive"
tdierikx replied to RuralPug's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I'd love to see pricing for rescue animals reflect their true value... in many cases the animals in question have been thoroughly vetworked, temperament assessed, and if necessary, rehabilitated for medical/physical/mental issues. Homes are usually fairly well checked out and matched to a particular animal's/family's needs... and that alone is actually priceless IMHO. The myth/perception that rescue animals are in some way "lesser" than animals sourced from anywhere else, and as such should be cheaper to purchase, needs to be kyboshed... T. -
Congrats for Best Puppy... so thrilling to hear awesome news of their exploits, yes? Not hard to believe that your puppies do well in the ring... I reckon there are at least a couple of those in the current little ones... they are completely stunning pups really! T.

And she's a very pretty black mutt... *grin* T.

Trouble is only 12... inoperable tumour... grrr!
tdierikx replied to tdierikx's topic in General Dog Discussion
Definitely a pretty good update... even though the main internal tumour is bigger, she's still happy and healthy in every other respect. She still manages to crunch up and swallow her turkey necks and chicken carcases, so even if some narrowing of oesophagus starts happening, we can switch to soft foods if needed. But the actuality is that it will be the trachea that narrows first, and that's when it will be time - if she starts having issues breathing... Funny thing is that she doesn't have any issues breathing at home... but she gets SO excited visiting her boyfriend (the vet) THAT is when she gets raspy... She does slobber a bit more than she used to, especially when she's asleep... and that means I'll roll over and end up with cold slime on my cheek because she shares my pillow... not much fun in winter... lol! Trubs saw her boyfriend the vet today, and all is progressing ok. The main tumour is definitely larger and is where I felt it to be - and doing what I knew it was with regards to her throat area. The smaller one on the top back of the tongue is also larger, but still not causing any issues as yet. We watch that one very closely, as it occasionally can get a bit mank and needs antibiotics to settle down again. No antibiotics needed this time, but as soon as I see any sign of it turning, the vet will give me some. Trubs is still completely oblivious to what's happening, and loving every minute of the extra attention she's been getting from everyone... my friend even bought her banana bread - toasted with butter - which went down a treat... lol! T. -
I don't think there would be enough of any particular breed in the mix that would be exerting dominance in traits... best advice I can give is to focus on her as the gorgeous individual she is, rather than trying to pigeon-hole her into any particular "category" of traits that she may or may not actually have. DNA tests are dodgy at best... and mostly just a waste of good money that would be better spent on toys and stuff for the dog in question... *grin* If anyone asks what "breed" she might be, just say she's an "extremely rare cuddlehound"... hehe! T.

Based only on her look, I see kelpie, cattle dog, and some bull breed in the mix... most likely she's from some generations worth of mixed breeding, so more than one or two types in there... She is gorgeous! And those eyes... *melt* T.

@asal, next time I'll grab a scoop and help much earlier in the piece... only fair to do my share of work in return for great company and puppy cuddles. I'll bring my camera too... so many gorgeous critters I want to get photos of... *grin* @persephone - 8 six week old puppies all vying for your attention is bliss! Sittling on the floor and getting covered in puppy slobber... best time ever!! Mumma dog was such a sweet tempered girl too... the pups are definitely learning great temperament attributes from her, that's for sure. I'm not an expert in the breed involved, but I'm thinking at least a couple of those 8 pups would be good to run on too... stunning in every way, with great temperaments to boot... T.

Is Don... is good boy! Those eyes still only for his human... gorgeous man! T.

This Tiny Terrier Leads Foxhound Pack Like a Boss Every Day
tdierikx replied to Boronia's topic in General Dog Discussion
There are a lot of people breaking the law then if fox hunting is illegal... still happening with alarming regularity... *sigh* Foxes are incredibly sensitive and intelligent critters... and certainly not regarded as a prey animal in the grand scheme of things. I can't begin to imagine the levels of terror one would suffer when hunted down, cornered, then torn apart by a pack of large dogs. That is NOT "sport" as far as I'm concerned... But... the OP is about the tough little dog that leads his pack out to all manner of activities other than hunts... and that part of the story is very cool. T. -
There were PUPPIEEEES! Heaven on a stick! T.
