Missing Sheltie - Roselands-riverwood - Found!
tdierikx replied to Katdogs's topic in General Dog Discussion
I don't like to think what may have happened if he managed to find the M5... Crossing fingers that little Bailey turns up safe and well. T. -
Mine all know the sound of my car pulling into the drive... and they let me know before I've opened the door that they are all where they are supposed to be... *grin* T.

Missing Sheltie - Roselands-riverwood - Found!

Do the owners have a photo of Bailey that you can possibly post here? Depending on which rangers could be called, he could turn up at Fairford Rd, Renbury, or Carlton... DOLers get about to all of those places, so if they know what he looks like, they may be able to holler if he turns up at one of those places... T. -
When I was in my teens, I used to go to my neighbour's place and feed their dogs, cat, goats, sheep, chickens, ducks, and geese daily while they were on holidays... for free... I am happy to feed and play with my current neighbour's dogs if they are away for a few days too... for free... I'm and old fashioned girl... *grin* T.

Yay for Luki!!! He has found himself the bestest forever home ever with you k9angel!! T.

Pity they want a medium sized dog... I have a totally perfect option for a nice family right here... http://www.nswar.org.au/zoe.htm This young lady is the dream foster dog so far - well behaved, totally loving, not noisy, and almost fully toilet trained. She is on the larger size of a small dog at around 8kgs (need to get me a proper weight check). She'd be just fine with 1 hour or less of walking per day, does couch cuddles like a true professional, and is also happy enough with her own company if you are too busy to play right then and there. Oh, and she would only need a mandatory brush over whenever you felt like it - wash and wear dog! T.

How about something sappy and appealing like Buddy? T. -
My cousin's wife got me a large one on Ebay for $20... pity my Lab hates it... grrr! T.

Hahaha @ the "spotty dingo" visual... too funny! How about "Sonny" for a name? Something fairly similar to what he already knows - and it's different enough from your other two dogs' names... ... or Hunter? T. -
Is Dakota a slightly nervy girl? I used to have a male Rotti that used to lick his front paws when he was stressed... Have her checked by the vet anyway, I reckon - if only to rule out any physical cause that might get worse... T.

How about renaming him "Duffy" - he sounds like your typical Dally duffer puppy... *grin* Don't forget that we want pics as soon as you have him in your care, OK? T. -
What's wrong with "speshul" dogs? I have 2 of them here... he'd fit right in methinks... lol! Right now I've got a feral foster small scruffy who thinks that jumping up onto my lap and trying to chase my mouse and licking my fingers is appropriate behaviour for this time of night... *sigh* T.

If I were looking for a pure Staffordshire - I'd be begging with ReadySetGo... *grin* T.

Tough Soft* Toys For Heavy Chewers

Cuz balls definitely! One of the few things my Lab hasn't managed to destroy to date - 4.5 years and still going strong! The orange rubber Chuckit balls are also indestructible - we have about 5 of those, and they have withstood the crazy chewy Labrador onslaught x2 (and numerous foster pups of all shapes and sizes) - they are around $20 for 2, but well worth the money because you won't be replacing them unless they get lost... T. -
Flood? I'd stay if I wasn't allowed to take the dogs... I can swim and so can they... Fire? The dogs are coming with me - no ifs or buts. I can replace the house and contents... but can't replace my furkids... they go where I go if there's an evacuation. T.

If you are using the wooden traps, you have to wash them after every caught rat - others can smell death on it... Bait the trap with chocolate - rats absolutely lose their frigging minds when it comes to chocolate - they love it, and will chance death to get to it. My Dad paced a trap with chocolate in their roof, and hadn't even reached for the manhole cover before he caught the mongrel thing! I had pet rats that would try to pry your lips open if you were eating chocolate... T.

Is it possible to take Tango with you to the meeting spot? Then you will know at least partially whether he will handle a rambunctious puppy... I know Tango has issue with travelling in the car, but it's better to know before you bring another dog in that he will cope with it - especially as it sounds just like a very normal and hyper Dalmatian puppy... *grin* T. -
Then there are the ones that just want a photo of a puppy to add to their collection... the world is a funny place... T.

Help! Statistics On Unwanted Puppies/whelping Costs?
tdierikx replied to Amanda&Dan's topic in General Dog Discussion
Maybe she could start researching how much an emergency caesarian might cost... just in case the "nice" male she finds throws large pups... the cost is pretty offputting. Then you could take her to the local pound and get them to tell her what normally happens to "nice" pups once they aren't so cute and young any more... especially if she is planning to sell them to strangers... Find some Cocker breeders' numbers from here on DOL, and get her to call them and ask about what it's like to have a litter of pups and raise them to be happy and healthy dogs... and how to select bloody good homes for them. T. -
Yep - that is definitely a Labrador! Mine does it too... T.
-
I had a foster dog (James) who used to love carrying his blankie or his teddy around... it's so cute! T.
-
Zeddy and Trouble will sometimes lick wounds I get... they seem to heal just fine... T.
-
Just wait until she starts shedding her winter undercoat too deelee... hahaha! My dogs are all weird at the best of times, so the season doesn't seem to have much effect here... lol! Except for the Labrador - the warm months mean MUCH more shed hair to vacuum up! T.
-
Maybe it's their way of punishing you for going to Queensland... *grin* T.

Funnily enough, my girls always got on fine when alone together - all of their fights have been when I was present. I reckon they would probably still be OK together without me there, but I'm not gonna chance it any more... they stay separate now. I can fully understand how your heart must have been racing worrying if your boys were going to start on each other while they were excited that you were home... T.
