  1. My Labrador girl didn't cope too well with the pain factor after her desexing - my vet gave me some pain meds for her which worked a treat for the first couple of days, and then she was fine... T.
  2. Hahaha! I've had fosters that lie like that when they are straight! I'll have what Tilly's on thanks... *grin* T.
  3. I'd really love to know some of your blending tricks nikvds... but I only have Paint Shop Pro 9... errr! T.
  4. I'm lucky to have dogs with Teflon fur - all the muck drops off as soon as it's dry... T.
  5. its not my puppy if thats what your getting at.... Thanks for clarifying - seeing how the other thread has been tootling along... *grin* T.
  6. The pup in question wouldn't be a blue Stafford by any chance? T.
  7. What's the harm in having Poppy checked over by the vet? At least you will have a definitive answer to your original question that way. Honestly, my vets complain that they only ever see me when something really serious has happened with my dogs - but they are also perfectly happy to listen to my description of symptoms over the phone and either advise me on the course of action, or if I really need to bring the dog in for a proper looking over... maybe you could at least ring your vet about Poppy's leg? T.
  8. Look for the Chuckit rubber tennis balls - the only thing my Lab girl hasn't been able to kill to date. They are about $19 a pair, but well worth it. T.
  9. I used to board my girl at my vet when she was in season - my boy didn't do kennels very well the big sook... T.
  10. Black and Gold freezer bags - any cheap supermarket brand will do. I double bag the messy stuff. T.
  11. I'd be more worried about if/when Gussy decides she's bigger than Myrtie and gives her one with claws extended... errr! T.
  12. I'd agree with this advice... until then, you can make yourself the bees knees with your new pup at home in a controlled environment. Another word of advice - be choosy about the obedience club you go to too - some of them aren't exactly perfectly run either. T.
  13. Why is it that some people bring their dog to a park and then expect others who are already there to stop what they are doing just to accommodate the new person's "needs"? You took Mindy away from the situation - the other dog kept coming to play. Sounds to me that the other pup's owner needs a lesson in dog park ettiquette. If she didn't want her dog to keep approaching yours, then she should have popped it back on lead until Mindy wasn't at the park... you were there first, and Mindy wasn't hurting anyone. T.
  14. Here are a couple of my offerings... My 2 girls are the Lab and the black one This was with my first ever foster pup - 3-way snuggles... This was with my second foster pup - he loved snuggling up to everyone and everything, but Trouble was his special snuggletime girl... My girls will snuggle any foster pup if it means they get a share of the heater... *grin* T.
  15. ... and then there is the fact that if media are thinking of running a story about a dog attack, they have been known to steer the victim/eyewitness to state that the attacker is/was a pitbull type. Makes for better copy, and supports the BSL argument. ANY larger breed dog can inflict a lot of damage if attacking a child or another dog - and anyone attempting to wade into a fight involving larger breed dogs can and usually does get hurt. I own a Rotti/Pittie - and in her 11 years only one person has picked that she has Rotti in her mix... NONE has picked Pittie, Staffy, or Bull breed as the other part of the mix. She is not DA or in the slightest way nasty with anyone or anything. Most people think she is a Lab cross, and I don't disabuse them of that notion... *grin* T.
  16. Awesome save... and awesome rehome... you be da bomb k9angel!! T.
  17. I'm a mongrel bitch... ner! I don't find the terms offensive when directed at dogs... even at my dogs... T.
  18. I'll second that... ... or let the dog inside with Dad... *grin* T.
  19. I'm just glad that inter-species matings never take... our farm dog and the neighbour's jenny (donkey) had a very romantic relationship... errr! Then there is the Maremma that runs with a couple of Alpacas just up the road from the rescue I volunteer at - he likes the smaller one heaps... *grin* The strangest mix I've ever seen was a Staffy/Maltese... she was actually a really nice dog, both in the physical and temperament stakes... think a scruffy Staffy... T.
  20. Would you believe that's what the bath looks like after I wash Trouble (my Lab) - and she looks clean!! A nice full tummy and a warm sheltered beddie - he probably is in total heaven right now... T.
  21. OMG! They know where to come, don't they?? He's going to be a stunner if you can get the grease out of him - the owner wouldn't recognise him methinks... T.
  22. An excellent decision made... you won't regret it... There are lots of very good ethical SBT breeders here on DOL... I'd definitely be looking up the breeder pages here and getting into contact with some of them. T.
  23. Not a mix I would have picked to "breed" - but he's kinda cute in a very strange way... The propensity for something to go horribly wrong with such a mating would put normal people off trying this mix, surely? I've seen what can happen between a GSD and a Foxy... not pretty - and all had to be euthed. T.
  24. Run!! Away!! Now!! If she doesn't have a prefix BEFORE the pups are born, then she won't be able to register them. NSW law requires all pups to be microchipped at point of sale - BEFORE going to new homes. If she can't (or won't) provide health certs for both parents, then I'd be looking at another breeder who will... T.
