  1. I don't want to sound harsh here - but why are you breeding with a dog that had complications with her first TWO litters when you are concerned about a $120 vet consult fee if you need emergency help? Before I knew better, I allowed one of my dogs to have a litter, and my vets were on standby for if we needed help - no matter what the cost... AND I had made sure that I could have an account to pay off if I couldn't afford the fee up front. Luckily I didn't need emergency help, but it was so much more comforting to know that there were not going to be problems getting medical attention straight away if we needed it. How are Emily and the babies this morning? T.
  2. Looks to be a very nice and warm spot... kitty ain't stoopid... lol! T.
  3. I think Emily doesn't need to have any more litters... *grin* Concentrate on getting her well, and looking after the pups. Try some Manuka honey for her sore throat too, OK? Just a little bit will help her feel better. T.
  4. Definitely need to see the vet now... the symptoms you are describing are NOT normal... T.
  5. I feel your pain... all you want to do is have a nice day out with yer best mate, and dickheads manage to mess it up for you... grrr! T.
  6. Hahaha! My vets do the same thing... I think it's a nice personal touch. T.
  7. Some of the traditionally "working" breeds can be challenging even for an experienced owner in the 'burbs... As for Rottweilers - all of mine have been total lounge lizards - not very challenging at all... lol! T.
  8. Now that I foster care for rescue - I'm pretty sure that my next forever dog will probably be a "foster failure"... *grin*... I have come very close a couple of times... T.
  9. I've had pups from pet shops, BYBs, and FTGH adverts... the only one that had a health issue was the Rotti boy that came from a pet shop - at 7 years of age he developed bone cancer, blew a vertebrae in his neck, and had to go to the Bridge before his time. T.
  10. I've just texted my friend about this - her dogs are on the Restricted Calorie one... Thanks for the info! T.
  11. PetFood Plus in Roselands has the bowls - and they come in a couple of different colours too... T.
  12. It's amazing how many times pound staff hear "we'll come and get Fluffy", and then no-one ever does turn up... Fluffy becomes the property of the pound after the mandatory allotted time - and unfortunately, that can mean that Fluffy ain't going to survive the experience... It's a sad indictment on our fellow "humans" IMO... T.
  13. My silly Lab refuses to stand still for a brushing... grrr! She doesn't like the Furminator much - but she loves this other stripping gadget I have that looks like a big loop with teeth... T.
  14. One of my dogs did the same thing when my ex left... they used to spend lots of daddy and boy time together, and the poor dog was so lost and confused for a while - not fun when the dog in question is a 47kg Rotti who starts acting out his confusion on your cushions and pillows (tore quite a few of them up), running to all the rooms in the house looking for his daddy, and crying when he can't find him... There is a happy ending though... after 3 weeks of the dog being a complete nutjob, and me only giving him reassurance when he was calm, he settled just fine into the new routines and became a mummy's boy instead - even growled at the ex when he came back to get the rest of his stuff... *grin* T.
  15. There is anecdotal evidence that shows that dogs who are desexed young can become "leggier" - basically the long bones' growth plates close later than entire dogs. My own male dogs I didn't have desexed at all (both now gone to the Bridge) - but all my rescue foster pups are done before rehoming, which means that they are quite young when done. My entire males were definitely big sooks, and trained enough that testosterone never became a factor when they were out in public - but at home we kept them separate because the older boy didn't take kindly to another entire male "on his patch" - the younger boy never had those tendencies - a very laid back and placid lad - all 47kg's of him... *grin* T.
  16. Gotta love the fact that a dog can most likely find fun under any circumstances... *grin* T.
  17. Has she discussed price with the people at the park that want a pup? They may change their minds if they have to part with real money... T.
  18. Bee or wasp sting? Spider bite? Ant bite? Allergic reaction to some bush with spikes that she may have stuck her face under? I hope she feels better after the Phenergan... poor baby! T.
  19. I have 2 three seater lounges... one for me, and one for the dogs... they don't sit on mine unless my Mum is here and she tries to steal theirs... T.
  20. Luki's colouring is almost exactly the same as my Lab girl Trouble... he's a handsome bugger, isn't he? T.
  21. My Labrador can completely devour a whole raw lamb shank in about 5 minutes - bones and all... What kind of dog is Riley? T.
