Hmmm... how about the PR representative who forged a genuine rescuer's signature to spring a dog from a pound under that rescue's name... without notifying said rescue... Everyone who has a 16D should and is legit rescue should be making sure that all pounds they deal with know exactly who is allowed to use their clause to get animals out of said pounds - and no exceptions unless prior arrangement by the clause holder is established. How are we to know what animals have been sprung under various rescue's names without our knowledge if all paperwork is handed to the person taking the animal? Might be an idea to contact DLG and find out how many animals they have listed under your rescue's name... because if these people have done it once, they may have done it many more times... and who is accountable when the DLG ask for your records at the end of the year? Queanbeyan Pound Pup

It's amazing what a decent diet can do for a growing pup, isn't it? T. -
Whippet In Qbyn Pound
tdierikx replied to keetamouse's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
I will only take on "Whippets", I do so because as a "breed" they come with a certain amount of predictability in terms of their temperament and breed quirks. I am not "whippet rescue", I am a dog breeder and exhibitor and as such I will pick and choose what dogs I bring into my home. *LIKE* T. -
She looks Husky cross... maybe Lab or Kelpie? Does she have a double coat? T.

Dog With A History Of Nipping Young Children
tdierikx replied to Pailin's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Not many reputable rescues are going to take on an AmStaff that has a thing for children... T. -
I'm guessing that BJ made those little marks in Izzy's ears, right? He looks cheeky enough to try to drag her around by them... *grin* They are totally stunning little munchkins FM... you must be pretty proud of how they are shaping up... T.

Meet Reuben - New Foster Baby
tdierikx replied to tdierikx's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Kirislin - the lovely lillypilly took the photos (with my Canon 450D)... I got to be the "wrangler" and have him run after or crawl all over me... *grin* esky - the lovely girl who originally took him in was so sweet, as was her friend that came with her... they were a pleasure to meet. It restores my faith in mankind when I meet such nicely mannered and caring young people. mita - he can make really nasty bottom burps... will that do? hahaha! Katdogs - now I have a job that is really close to home, I should be home well before you each day - plenty of time to feed this lot and have Reuben ready for a play date at yours any time you feel the need to have puppy cuddles and fun laughing at Rocky looking at the pup with utter disdain... *grin* PS - haven't felt the urge for burger rings myself of late... must get some tomorrow and find out, yes? Reuben is such a good boy in the car now - he settles right down and just goes off to sleep in his travel crate. We got stuck in some nasty traffic on the way home from the rescue today and it ended up being a 2 hour drive home instead of just under 1 hour - he didn't complain once. Such a good boy! Mind you, he spent all day playing up a storm with Jack the BT/Staffy pup, and was probably totally shattered by the time we headed off... hehe! As soon as we got home we went out into the back yard and he did a wee straight away - then after everyone was fed, we went out again and he did another wee and a poo... and he's now sleeping at my feet... awww! T. -
Awww... she sure is a cutie! T.

Aggression Between Desexed Females
tdierikx replied to Juddabug Whippets's topic in General Dog Discussion
My advice is to get some help/advice from a qualified (and hopefully DOL recommended) behaviourist in your area... if the behaviour does escalate, it will only be harder to manage later... I have to keep my 2 older girls separated at all times now because I didn't see the warning signs early enough. T. -
Meet Reuben - New Foster Baby
tdierikx replied to tdierikx's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Well - I learned that Reuben is an expert couch cuddler... we fell asleep together on the couch... *grin* When it came time for going to bed, I took him out for potty, and he did his business straight away - then I popped him in his night crate, climbed into bed, and turned off the light. He whinged for exactly 4 minutes before settling down and sleeping all night through... what a good boy! And no messes in his crate this morning either... Took him outside when we woke up, and he did a big wee... now he's had breakfast and is sitting at my feet looking content... *grin* T. -
Meet Reuben - New Foster Baby

He's certainly going to be a very handsome lad when he grows up... Right now he's a little clingy - follows me around like a persistent fart actually - but I'm sure that a couple of days at "Chez Crazy Dog Holiday Camp" will sort that out. He's had a big day travelling today, and had his vaccination, but I'm sure a good night's sleep will see a less clingy boy come morning. He will be wormed tomorrow, and microchipped. As soon as we can find his second testicle with any reliability (it's playing hide and seek, but there), he will be desexed. The fun test will be when he has to go in his night crate when I go to bed, but it's in my bedroom positioned where he can see me, so I'm not envisioning any screaming or major crying - which he does do if he can't find his human right now. He will also have a nice big teddy to cuddle up to and a soft warm polar fleece blanky to keep him all snuggly. He was really good in his travel crate on the drive home - only sooked for about 5 mins, then settled down and slept the rest of the way like a true pro... and we can verify 100% he doesn't vomit on long car trips, after travelling for a couple of hours to get to us, then an hour trip home with me... I'm off now - going to wake him up and take him outside for potty, then he's going to learn the art of couch cuddles while watching TV... *grin* T. -
Reuben now has his own thread... with pics... http://www.dolforums.com.au/topic/237379-meet-reuben-new-foster-baby/ T.

Firstly, may I say a huge thanks to esky for alerting us all that this boy needed someone to help find him a new home - his temporary carer was such a lovely girl and drove all the way from Newcastle to bring him to us. He's in lovely condition, and oh so handsome... *grin* We've decided to call him Reuben... I think it suits, don't you? ... and to all those who gave his temporary carer a hard time when she was looking for help... look what a lovely boy you missed out on... hehe! He truly is a lovely and pretty well adjusted young lad in peak condition. We'll be beating off prospective adopters with a stick once he's ready for rehoming... He's lying here fast asleep at my feet as I type, and he doesn't snore either... yay! T.

OMG!!! This pup is divine... he's a real smoochy bum too! Photos will be forthcoming (in his very own thread) once they finish loading onto the computer, OK? T.

Hawkesbury Council care a lot about the animals. Staff at Hawkesbury pound definitely care about the animals in their care - that is a given - but those higher up the food chain are all too happy to "work with" anyone who is going to get large numbers of animals out of there so it costs council less in the long run... T.
-
Guess who's getting a new foster puppy this afternoon? *grin* T.
-
Hahahaha! Too cute! T.
-
Bloody council staff care little about what happens to a dog once it's left their care... and a certain "rescue" is springing loads of animals that the council now don't have to pay any extra costs for (ie. destruction/disposal)... of course council want to "build a relationship" with this mob... grrr! T.
-
esky... my rescue coordinator says she is going to call you - and I'm happy to foster the pup for our rescue. We just need it brought down to Sydney, OK? T.
-
Ummmm... with regards to fostering... well... 4 dogs isn't much more work than 3, right? Hahahaha! T.
