  1. jusdeb - to be honest, you have basically only told us that Rachelle didn't answer your questions to your satisfaction... Do you have any other information about this rescue that the public or her peers in the field should know about? If so, please share... T.
  2. There will be another bright little star in the heavens tonight... Run free Percy... T.
  3. Questions have been asked by longstanding members of the rescue community, and have been answered (and relayed back to here)... does anyone think that lillypilly would intentionally mislead us with the information she has passed on in this case? She helped Rachelle find a decent vet that will do the early age desexing last year, and has been a support and mentor for Rachelle on other occasions... I'm always leery of people who sign up here and immediately go on a witch hunt... not saying that was jusdeb's intent at first, but it's certainly starting to look that way to me. T.
  4. Cheryl... we got a load of precut boards from Bunnings and bracketed them together to make whelping/play areas for our mums and bubs - pretty cheap when you look at how useful they are. Mum can get in and out, but bubs are contained nicely. T.
  5. Back when I was a kid, there wasn't such an emphasis on staying clean when we played either - a good day's play was judged by how dark the bathwater ran that evening... *grin* Dogs were considered great playmates by all of us kids, and very rarely did we hear of dogs attacking kids or adults in the streets - yet we would come across many more loose dogs than one does nowadays... go figure? That Collie Rough was the coolest dog! A few times I'd take her to our front yard and give her a bath and a brush, and her owners (who had no kids of their own) would thank me and tell me how much they appreciated it... not that she always needed a bath, but I wanted to give her one anyways. I was about 10, and the dog was nearly as big as me, but she stood there happily while she had her pampering... We kids also used to have our own dogs with us at the park where we played - never had fights or bites - and there were often 20 or more kids and a good dozen dogs all playing happily with each other. Damn! I miss those days! T.
  6. Uh-oh... the wheels are falling off MA's cart... lol! T.
  7. All I can advise is that if you are so concerned about her practices and responses to your questions, maybe you can withdraw her advertising on your page. lillypilly is a rescuer of some experience, and has contacted Rachelle personally... and posted the responses here. I don't know why you are getting a completely different response to your questions, but the fact that you signed up here to ostensibly have a go at this rescue (and dredging up a very old thread to do so), doesn't say much for your own conduct in this "dispute" with an advertiser on Facebook. The pups are advertised, but don't go to their new families until all of the work is done and they are old enough to go. There is no law stating that very young pups can't be advertised - just that they can't legally be transferred to a new owner until at least 8 weeks of age. dogmad - all of the pups are chipped, desexed, and vetworked prior to rehoming. T.
  8. Try getting a ranger from pretty much any council in Sydney to come out for a roaming dog - they won't come unless a member of the public has contained the dog for them... and you can completely forget any service at all outside of business hours... I'd like to see much steeper penalties for people who flaunt the current dog laws. Not registered, not chipped, not contained adequately, menace, etc. I'd like to see more manpower given to those tasked with doing the job - most councils are sorely understaffed when it comes to rangers. I can remember a time when dogs that roamed the streets weren't deemed automagically dangerous... used to play with quite a few as a child - and when we kids went in for dinner, the dogs would also go to their homes of their own volition. Fond memories of a Collie Rough and a Newfoundland that regularly came out to play with us. Either dog out playing with kids today would be looked upon with suspicion and/or fear... *sigh* T.
  9. Actually jusdeb, one does not need an ABN or a COP in order to run a rescue... Maybe your email questioning didn't come across the way you intended it - the written word isn't always totally black and white. Do you have a history with Rachelle that we here may not be aware of and should be if we are to fully understand this dredging up of an old thread to cast further aspersions on this rescue? T.
  10. That's a coffee splurk comment if ever I saw one... T. I wonder if Mark was good enough to share with them the ways he's been cyber bullying people with his fake profiles? Hmmm... maybe not... lol! T.
  11. That's a coffee splurk comment if ever I saw one... T.
  12. TT can't run a story if there is a court date pending, can they? Especially if the other side aren't commenting because of same... T.
  13. One of the black and white girls (the one with even face stripe) is a right shocker! Cheeky as all getout and naughty! The smallest black and tan boy is a pushy little bugger - was humping my foot this afternoon... errr! The other black and white girl (uneven face stripe) is such a aweet little soul, as is the black and tan girl with the stunning white face markings. The black and tan boy with the uneven white face markings is cautiously cheeky and gets quite playful once he's sussed you out. The big black and tan boy is a cuddlebum, as is the tan girl. All of them are much happier about being picked up and put down now - now that they know that I will always place them on all fours when putting them down. They do love cuddle time and playing with me. They aren't anywhere near as ravenous as when they arrived here - even leaving some food in their tray for "ron" - all are starting to look a bit better than when they arrrived too, even though they haven't been wormed yet. The weather has been yukky here the past 2 days, raining on and off, so their yard time has been somewhat limited. Can someone please ask the powers that be for a few days without rain so they can spend their days in the big outdoor puppy pen... it will make the poo patrol/cleanup lots easier, and they will love romping around with lots more space to play than in the granny flat... *grin* T.
  14. The dogs were chipped as American Bulldogs - which is possibly what they were judging by the footage shown of their seizure. doesn't necessarily mean they actually were American Bulldogs, Aussie Bulldogs, Pitbull crosses, AmStaff, or any other combination of bull breeds... All the public sees is "large bull breed that attacked a person" and the media hype that they must have been "pitbulls" because of same... I know some large Labradoodles that could do similar damage if so inclined, also some Standard Poodles, Labradors, Golden Retrievers, Weimaraners, Dalmatians, etc, etc... should we restrict ownership of all of those breeds too because if raised the "wrong way", they could possibly harm someone? T.
  15. If there were to be any legislation introduced regarding responsible pet ownership, it would have to be all inclusive. Sure, the larger dogs can do more damage, but lets not forget the few who think it's funny to allow their small breed dog to get away with aggressive behaviours in public also. I've seen with my own eyes what damage can be done by a small breed dog when it's latched onto a human face - and seen what a toy poodle did to my friend's daughter's face also. Both have lasting external scars. Singling out specific breeds or breed mixes for strict legislation hasn't worked to date - so the logical next step should be to find an all encompassing solution to any/all dog to human aggression, yes? T.
  16. This bit may hold your answer methinks... T.
  17. Then divide that cost by how many dogs can be vacced and chipped in a day... T.
  18. My oldest dog gets horrendous tartar, but every time her teeth have been cleaned, they are all gorgeous white and healthy teeth underneath. Dog knows how the tartar builds up, she chews every mouthfull of her food - unlike my other dogs, who inhale theirs without chewing and don't have tartar build up at all. I think it must be her saliva makeup - it seems much different to my other dogs' saliva. T.
  19. Hmmm... $20 to microchip 1 animal? Chips cost approx $5 each, implanting course $300 (one-off cost) $60 to vaccinate 1 animal? 1 vial of C3 costs around $20-$25 - just about anyone can do a subcut injection and have it signed off by a vet. $35 to rehab an animal for 1 month? This is a little low IMHO - but we all know that a lot of that just isn't happening after the temp tests anyways, so the figure is probably correct for them. $100 won't buy much in the way of advertising for community awareness of welfare issues - but way more money will definitely be spent to "beg" for more money... T.
  20. I feel sorry for the poor staff at Renbury who are going to have to hold these dogs as they are euthed... From the footage shown of their seizure, they don't all look to be completely vicious snarling beasts... dog only knows what made them decide to attack like they did. I think that the owner needs to be punished in some way that will make them understand the responsibilities that come with dog ownership. The dogs themselves shouldn't be the only ones paying for the attack. Odds are the owner will get a slap on the wrist, and if unlucky, banned from owning dogs for a short while... *sigh* T.
  21. Mostly because after reading the other factors noted in the OP, the rehome option is probably the most sensible in this particular case. Many of us have asked if the OP is thinking of getting any more dogs in the near future, you may note... T.
