  1. Awww... a perfectly wrapped Christmas puppy! T.
  2. I got sworn at by one of those "Microsoft" scammers... after I let them ramble on and try to show me all the viruses on my computer. Apparently they talk you through bringing up all of your *.inf files and then tell you that the inf means "infected". *.inf files are actually information files that allow your drivers and such to load up properly... which is what I told the scammer... Then she told me to get effed and hung up on me! T.
  3. Dogs may be put down anyway - whether the baby was deceased before they played with her or not... Such a tragedy all around. T.
  4. It's highly possible that the baby suffocated before it fell off the couch... T.
  5. My 15 month old Dane cross does the same thing... until I get to the poo bucket and tongs (which is located right up the back of the yard) - funny how I'm not as attractive a chew toy when I have a bucket of poop in my hand... *sigh* Getting back to the house after finishing the poo patrol is also fraught with dangerous jumping and mouthing by said feral horse puppy. Nothing I've tried has stopped the behaviour - chastising and ignoring don't work, she's intent on using me as a chew toy. And like your pup, she ONLY does it in the back yard. I'm hoping she will just grow out of it... maybe when she grows another brain cell or two? T.
  6. Lort Smith are the good guys... T.
  7. Gorgeous photos! I especially love the grey/white hair on Tsotsi... what an amazing look it gives... T.
  8. These are hysterical... http://distractify.com/fun/fails/dogs-who-are-shamelessly-proud-of-what-they-just-did/ T.
  9. That cheeky look is to die for! What a charmer! T.
  10. If the playpen/crate setup is large enough for them to wee/poop away from food/water, and they can move around freely, then I don't see a huge problem. I'd leave water for them at night also though. If they wee/poo in the playpen, then you may just have to cope with that when you get home from work - and/or get up and make sure they are toiletted during the night too if you don't want to clean up messes in the morning. T.
  11. Run free Poncho... we will all look for your bright shining star in the heavens tonight... Hugs to you and yours from me and mine Maree... T.
  12. The data sheet for Zeuterin says convalescence time is similar to that of a surgical neuter - being that they inject the stuff into the testicles and all - the after effects can be similar to the surgical method (swelling, pain, bruising, etc) - the guy having his dog rounding up sheep the next day might be exaggerating somewhat methinks. T.
  13. Zeddy is currently sitting under the computer desk sniffing the air - there's something coming methinks... she's a pretty good barometer actually... lol! If we get a really nasty storm, Zeddy feels safest in the bathroom with the door shut and the light off - she settles really well in there, whereas if I leave her out, she keeps trying to get into my lap (and at 30kgs, that's not going to happen). She's not the type to freak out and try to get out of the yard if there's a storm - in fact, the yard is the last place you'll find her if there's a storm... she has access to the kitchen when I'm not home, so she's usually fine when I get back - and she has Pickles to help keep her safe from the nasty bangs and flashes. Zeddy is 14, and she learned her storm and fireworks phobia from a dog we looked after once... grrr! Zeddy's anxiety levels regarding storms has increased with age too - she is now 14... T.
  14. Maybe the vet can give Jessie a long lasting antibiotic shot? Will be easier for everyone in the long run. T.
  15. I wouldn't be pussy footing around trying to get her to take the tablet willingly... just open her mouth and push the tablet to the back of the throat - the close and hold her mouth and gently blow near her nose and she will involuntarily swallow. If she has some sort of infection, you need those antibiotics in her asap. My guess woud be something wrong with a back tooth on that side... that could explain the eye swelling AND the refusal to eat. T.
  16. The first foster is always the hardest... both of you are learning on the fly... and you want so much to "get it right", yes? I thought I did pretty well to have my first "failure" with foster number 45... lol! And the second "failure" some hundred foster pups after that. I'm at my magic number of "keepers" now with 4 large dogs - but fostering is not completely out of the future picture either... Oh - and my fostering "specialty" is very young puppies... too darned cute for words most of them... *grin* T.
  17. Those pangs mean you are doing it RIGHT koalathebear... *grin*... shed a tear and know you will miss her, but also know that you have given her the best possible start on her latest chapter in her life story... T.
  18. I'm not convinced that intact dogs have a propensity to bite more often than desexed dogs - more like the people who do not train or socialise their dogs may be more likely to not bother with desexing either. The rest of the items are interesting though... and do show that there is very much a correlation to dog bites more likely happening when a dog hasn't been socialised properly. T.
  19. It's amazing how adaptable dogs are when we just let them work it out for themselves... I've had a couple of nervous/shy fosters and didn't have too much trouble once I let them do their own thing and get their bearings in the new environment... T.
  20. Neko is a camera tart, isn't she? I'm sure she does all these cute things because she knows that you are going to take lots of photos and post them here for all of her fans to enjoy... *grin* T.
  21. Awww... how gorgeous does she look? Red truly suits her... *grin* T.
  22. If I were to see a tiger in a zoo in the condition of those Indonesion tigers, I'd probably be arrested for my response/actions. I showed the photos of them to a couple of male workmates, and they teared up with me... and these are "tough" guys... No animal deserves that... T.
  23. My Pickles still walks pretty much like she did when she came to our rescue... She is 3 years old now, and lives in my 4 dog household (she is the smallest dog). She runs a lot better than she walks by the way... As I noted in a previous post, we could have used her for all sorts of fundraising if we were inclined that way - she always gets plenty of attention when out and about. But that's not what rescuing her was about for us. Pickles is a "normal" dog in all other respects - she just walks funny because she has a scar in her brain from an unknown cause that happend some time before she came to us. We could speculate all sorts of reasons for her disability, but I really can't see the point myself - she's just one of my dogs to me. She gets no special treatment except occasional help to get up onto the couch when she's in a lazy mood and can't be arsed making the 3 attempts it usually takes to get up herself. A lot of people would have euthed Pickles as a pup... but that probably would have been hasty thinking, now that I know that her disability isn't one for her - it's just normal, and she certainly doesn't think she's any different to my other 3 larger able-bodied dogs... and she's an awesome foster puppy raising helper to boot! T.
