Probably A Stupid Question - Canon Camera Models
tdierikx replied to j's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
Canon use the Rebel moniker in the US, and Kiss in Japan. 500D = Rebel T1i = Kiss X3 550D = Rebel T2i = Kiss X4 600D = Rebel T3i = Kiss X5 650D = Rebel T4i = Kiss X6 700D = Rebel T5i = Kiss X7 Prior to that... 300D = Rebel = Kiss 350D = Rebel XT = Kiss Digital N 400D = Rebel XTI = Kiss X 450D = Rebel XSI = Kiss X2 T. -
Probably A Stupid Question - Canon Camera Models
tdierikx replied to j's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
The x00D are also known as "Rebel" models overseas - so the 700D is the Rebel T5i model... or generally speaking most of the Canon EF-S lenses should fit it. The 70D is the next "more professional" model up the chain in Canon... the smaller the number before the D, the better the camera (generally speaking). I have a 60D, which is the predecessor to the 70D... T. -
Taronga had one born earlier this year... sadly it didn't make it... I saw them trying for another today though... *grin* T.

Hmmm... Zeddy is now 14.5 years old, and had her last vaccination when she was 5. Last June I had a litter of rescue foster pups who all had Parvo. I'd say that Zeddy's immunity to Parvo after nearly 10 years seems to be intact... My biggest worry was Harper, who had only had her puppy vaccinations before we had the Parvo pups here... again, they seem to have held just fine. Harper has since had her adult booster and won't be vaccinated again. Trouble (who is 8 and hadn't had any vaccs since her adult booster at 15 months) had to have a C5 earlier this year only because I had to board her while I had my gallbladder out... silly rules but they have to be followed... *sigh* There is something a bit different with my dogs' immunities though. As I was fostering lots of rescue pups over the years, my dogs have been getting small exposures to all number of things continually, thus making their immune systems work all the time - as opposed to dogs who don't interact with many other dogs on a regular basis. As a result my girls all have very nice titres... *grin* T.

My Lab wants to play with EVERYONE... *sigh* My Staffy/Dane really loves small scruffies... like 3kg small... and she's 30kg! She plays with smalls so gently though - lays down and lets them belt her up. I think it's because as a pup her bestie in the whole wide world was a small scruffy mad terrier. She worked out that play with them worked better if she was laying down... watching a 20kg pup play bitey face with a dog she can swallow in one gulp is an eye-opener, I can tell you! T.

What's The Worst Reaction Somebody Has Had To You Dog?
tdierikx replied to dididog's topic in General Dog Discussion
When Zeddy was younger, we were at the park up the road near the freeway, and some kids and their mother were there. The kids wanted to play with Zeddy and I said OK. Anyways, chatting away with the mother for a good 10-15 mins before she decided to ask what breed Zeddy was... When I told her that Zeddy was a Rotti/Pittie cross, she went completely mental, screaming at the 3 children (who were playing ball happily with Zeddy for a good 10-15 mins already) to get away from the "vicious" dog... *sigh* Another observation... walking my male Rottweiler, we'd get lots of people wanting to come pat him... different story if same dog was wearing a muzzle... go figure? Ummm... muzzle usually means he CAN'T bite you. Poor Rastus had had a bad experience with the neighbour's children throwing bricks at him over the fence, and was quite leery of children after that - hence the muzzle on walks... just in case a child ran up to him and scared him... as is their wont. So .. You Want A New Camera? Confused ? Inexperienced?
tdierikx replied to persephone's topic in Photos, Photos, Photos
One can never have too many sources of information... you take what you need and remember where the rest is for when you need it later... lol! This is mostly Canon biased, but awesome info nonetheless... http://photography-on-the.net/forum/showthread.php?t=414088 T. -
Maybe have a look at www.petrescue.com.au and see if any rescues have something that may fit what you are looking for... T.

Jealousy How To Deal With It
tdierikx replied to HappyCamper's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I second the suggestion of a professional behaviourist visit... you can never be too careful with a dog you really don't know all that well yet. In the meantime keep George separate from anyone or anything he may nip for getting too close to the object of his desire - that means other dogs, your kids, etc... T. -
Administration Fees?
tdierikx replied to HappyCamper's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
But you could do so quite legally... as long as you report the income for tax purposes... T. -
Administration Fees?
tdierikx replied to HappyCamper's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Paperwork, etc, must be done by someone, and it takes time... that time can be "charged" for... T. -
Administration Fees?
tdierikx replied to HappyCamper's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
It would depend on how long the people have had the dog before returning it... at one point there was a rash of people "adopting" young dogs/pups during the school holidays as entertainment for the kids, then returning them on the last day of the holidays as "unsuitable"... ie. they had served the purpose of school holiday entertainment... If you have a trial period, then the dog should be able to be returned within that period without extra cost... after that, I'd call the fee a "surrender fee" instead. It is most likely perfectly legal to do so, but may be seen by most as somewhat "unethical"... T. -
Doesn't look anything like a Dogue or a Neo pup - check out the muzzle on it - completely wrong for either breed. Could possibly be a multi-mix with a good dash of Dane? T.

My Apologies To All
tdierikx replied to HappyCamper's topic in Dog Rescue (General Rescue Discussion)
Hehe... I'm sure that some things said about me are not exactly complimentary... but everyone's entitled to their opinion now, aren't they? Especially those who've never met the person they are bad-mouthing... *grin* I've met quite a few people who I may not see eye-to-eye with all the time, but I still have great respect for them and the work that they do in rescue... and have met others that I wouldn't cross the road to pee on if they were on fire... rescue is like that I reckon... lol! It's been talked about often, but considering that not all rescues (reputable and respectable ones to boot) run in exactly the same manner, and no-one can agree on the "best" way to run a rescue... it's always an interesting discussion... *grin* T. -
Fingers crossed it's all good news and you get the right treatment plan happening to clear it all up quickly. T.
