It can also depend on whether the bitch deals with the umbilicus or the owner - some bitches can tug a bit too hard... T.

Wa Woman Convicted Of Cruelty Was A Dog Foster Carer
tdierikx replied to gapvic's topic in In The News
Scary... I know a few foster carers that do it as a way to "own" more animals than they really should... there needs to be VERY careful screening of potential foster carers methinks... T. -
My yellow Lab sheds 24/7/365... and fully blows coat around the end of December, early January... My camp dog mutt sheds even worse than the Lab though, so I can't complain... lol! T.

Ummm... the picture of the dog on lead and the words under it saying "At All Times" seem pretty obvious to me... T. -

Regardless of luck, food, etc... I'd rather see a lean, fit, and happy dog any day. I know for a fact that my Zeddy (now 15) wouldn't be here if she was chubby. She has arthritis in her back end/legs, and extra weight would make it near impossible for her to move comfortably. Keeping her lean (and warm in winter) means she stays a lot more pain free and happy... and will be with me longer... I recently had to rush to a friend's house to help take her fat lab boy to the vet for his final visit. His ideal healthy weight should have been around 27-28kgs - but carrying 40+ kgs around for years had sadly taken it's toll on his back and hips, and they had just finally given out completely. Lifting a 40+ kg dog into the car because he can't move and has crapped and wet all over himself was more heartbreaking than the fact we were taking him for his last vet visit. I believe that the above dog was loved to death... T.

What Food Can Your Dog Not Resist?
tdierikx replied to Loving my Oldies's topic in General Dog Discussion
Ice-cream or honey... worked a treat for getting Trizene tablets (very bitter) down puppies' throats... It's a bit messy, but worth the effort. T. -
Pickles eats everything! Doors, skirting boards, beds, stuffed toys, rubber toys, rope toys... everything! Funnily enough, she hasn't eaten my bed or the couches for some reason... could be because she likes lying around on them herself? The poo patrol here is an adventure into "what the hell whas that?" land... lol! Luckily so far she has managed to pass everything that has gone down her throat... *sigh* T.

Lucky you! Let's hope they develop clean toilet habits to go with their delicate eating technique... *grin* T. -
Important Request For Allerzoit And Grumpette
tdierikx replied to Brandiandwe's topic in General Dog Discussion
How do you keep them so clean while weaning? All my weaning pups used to be completely covered in the stuff... but they then had great fun sucking it off each other... *grin* T. -
Baby emus are so cute! T.

Pickles not only de-stuffs, but also swallows said stuffing... and sometimes will also chew up and swallow chunks of said soft toy... she doesn't get them as a rule because I really don't want to end up with an obstruction... T.

Gotta love laws that make it easier to "police" those doing the right thing right out of business - and leaving those mass producing pups for the "pet market" virtually untouched... *sigh* T.
-
Harper the Horse Puppy does that too... 30kgs of crazy collapsing puppy that I end up trying to stop from falling off the couch is hard work! T.
-
So that's why Pickles keeps eating the kitchen door! And here was me thinking she is just a destructive little chewer... T.

I never get tired of seeing photos of ALL of your gorgeous dogs Kirislin... stunning as usual too... *grin* T.

What about the tetanus risk to dogs around horses? T.

Dog Health Problems/conditions Research
tdierikx replied to winniethepoodle's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Would you mind to shed light on the issue that I have omitted please? The purpose of this research is to find out what are the common health problems and see if there's any solution or prevention for it. Thanks and Happy Friday :) Hmmm... a bit TOO defensive... and way too vague about any real details as to why you are asking for this information. If you are doing any form of study research in a formal manner, you're going to need to be a LOT more specific about what you are actually wanting to get out of said research. If it's for a primary school project, then I suppose the opening post would suffice... *grin*... but you'll still have to be open and honest about WHY you want this information. T.
