Recently I noticed that there were rats/mice coming from the neighbour's place into my yard then back next door again... luckily they haven't ventured into my house! Now I'm noticing the odd dead one in my yard, and one morning Harper brought a fairly large one into the hallway to play with. The neighbours have a dog themselves, and I'm sure they've been careful with whatever they are using to get rid of the rodents. So far, I'm sure that Pickles has probably been eating anything that comes into the yard while I'm at work - but no signs of any of the dogs getting ill... T.

Is Neutering At 8 Value For Money
tdierikx replied to LeoBullTerrier's topic in General Dog Discussion
At 8 years of age, the problem is habits learned, NOT the fact that he has testicles. Whether he keeps his testicles or not, you are still going to have to invest some time and effort into training and enough mental/physical stimulation in order to change his behaviours. T. -
Mine do puppies just fine, but might freak out and run from spitting kittens... lol! Actually, Harper the Horse Puppy might do kitties well... she loves small breed dogs/pups, and is ever so gentle with them. Pickles would definitely eat a kitten though... *sigh* T.

No it doesn't, old "organ arse" gets yoghurt every day and he can still clear a room. Need a bigger dollop? lol! T. -

Pickles and Harper are the fart queens here... even old Zeddy doesn't get near their noxiousness! T. -
Wouldn't that have been a question you should have asked the breeder at the time you picked up the pup? Give the breeder a call and ask... they won't bite... T.

Try a dollop of plain yoghurt with his meals... won't stop the farts, but will take away the smell. T. -
Yep. They've always kept me from moving there! You rarely see any, honest! They tend to like hiding in their holes and waiting for bugs and stuff to come close. This is only the second one I've seen at my place in 15 years of living here. The last one I saw was a BIG female loitering outside my front door about 10 years ago - she got stomped too... *grin* Their holes can get flooded after heavy rainfall, so you my get really lucky to see one out and about then while they wait for the tide in their hole to recede. T.

Umm... they are called Sydney Funnel Web for a reason... been here as long as I can remember... *grin* Funnily enough, I'm not really all that worried about Funnel Webs, as they are pretty slow and not all that scuttly... unlike bloody Huntsmans who run AT you while you are trying to smash them! The fact remains that I had been wandering around the house barefoot yesterday afternoon... what if I'd trodden on the bugger and got bitten? Cats are generally immune to Funnel Webs and Redbacks too MW... so don't panic too much if kitty finds one. T.
-
Well - the fact that dogs are immune to Funnel Webs must be true... Harper is still fine this morning... *grin* I'm sure it must have bitten her, as she was picking it up in her mouth and flinging it about - and it was well and truly still alive before I squished it. Definitely a male too - as I had a good look at the corpse... no mistaking those big arsed fangs. He was only about the size of a 10c piece fully extended. T.

He may have needed to see the wound underneath to positively identify what caused it? T.

Hmmm... just came out of the computer room to find Harper playing with a spider... a Funnel Web Spider!! It's dead and flushed down the toilet now... in an extreme act of bravery on my part (arachnophobe) - but it was definitely a male Funnel Web. Good thing dogs are virtually immune to Funnel Web bites. Have checked her all over, and she appears fine... in fact a little miffed that I wouldn't let her play with it some more before I stomped it and flushed it. Bloody thing must have come out due to the rain we had this evening... grrr! Gonna be fun trying to get to sleep tonight... spiders scare the bejeebus out of me, and I'll bet there will be a Huntsman waiting for me at some point soon too... aarrgghh! T.

Once you've shared your life with a Rotti (or 5)... you'll understand why I'm besotted... *grin* T.

I love Rottweilers over pretty much any other breed - but currently have 4 crossbreed dogs... 2 were additions when I still had a couple of Rotties, and 2 are foster failures from my years in Rescue (all breeds). I WILL have a gorgeous Rotti again - from a breeder I've met here on DOL (and intend to meet in person before she breeds another litter)... life is great with any dog in your life, but for me a Rotti will make it "complete" again. I would like a male with an easy temperament - but not too easy. Confident, yet approachable by strangers. Stunning looks would be a bonus, but not an absolute requirement... *grin*... I'm not looking to show or breed with him. Health testing for known preventable genetic problems mean just as much to a "pet" owner too... Then again, if a female happened to be available that had the temperament I wanted instead of a male, I could be open to another bitch in my life too... but first preference is definitely male. Size or proportion is not paramount, but conformation to the standard is a good thing... I don't need the biggest Rotti on the planet, or the fattest head, or the scariest look... I just want a companion who I can love back as much as he loves me. I expect when the time comes for me to add that Rotti pup to my family, that there will still be a hell of a lot of questions from my chosen breeder before she hands over the goods... lol! T.

Lots of bang crash flash here at the moment... I'm not going out in it... errr! ... it's a bit hard to pry the 28kg scaredy Pitbull off my lap also... *sigh* T.

So now the breeder is willing to sell you this pup, and you are being hesitant about whether you actually now want it? T. What part are you not understanding? It was not until she called me and we spoke again that I posed a particular question to her and she provided me with the answer, had I not asked that question I never would have known…..it certainly did not come up in conversation the first couple of times we spoke on the phone. I'm understanding that your are (rightfully) fussy about what you want in a pup... but are a bit naffed off at breeders who appear to be just as fussy about who they choose to sell a pup to. I've recently decided on a breed (that I've owned before) and a breeder I want a pup from. I could have had one from a recent litter, but the timing is not conducive for me to bring a pup into my hectic life.... but I WILL be travelling to Tasmania sometime before the litter comes up that the timing is right for to meet the breeder and their dogs in person. I live in NSW. True quality is worth waiting for... T.

This breeder does  You are so at the top of my list for my next litter! I hope you've trained that seagull and socialised it responsibly, though! He was a very quick learner with the food rewards - no biting of fingers or snatching what I was putting in my mouth. He waited patiently for his treats which were handed up to him as he sat atop my head. I must have been doing something right, as he stayed on top of my head even after the food had gone - and he didn't "christen" my hair either. T.

Run free Tibor... Huge hugs VM... T.

That was at Circular Quay yesterday afternoon... we had just had lunch, and this chap had been sharing my chips - from his perch atop my head. T.

I had some fosters that were into cows... T.

I'd send this photo of myself... do you think a breeder would see the funny side? *grin* T.
