I was getting the stupid Yahoo white banner this morning too too... just logged in again now and it's gone... T.

Rat traps set with chocoloate... they can't resist chocolate. My dad would set one in the roof and it would go off before he could replace the manhole cover! T.

Bazilybazbaz,hannah Orr And Heaps More

Yes... and she's done some amazing work with her local pounds... a very deserved nomination. T. -
I've been in the same situation a few times myself... and you are right, they are the hardest ones to send to God... but they just wouldn't have been safe to rehome, and you can't keep a dog in a shelter environment forever. Rescue has a responsibility to the community as well as to the animals they "save"... T.

Lets Play Fetch, Not Keepings Off!

High value treat reward for giving you the fetch toy? T. -
There are a couple more within driving distance I'd like to check out too... Hunter Valley Zoo has baby meerkats at the moment... and is probably at my furthest reach for a day trip there and back. Then there's the Reptile Park at Gosford/Somersby, Nowra Zoo, Castle Hill Koala Park (I hear it's pretty run down though), the Manly Aquarium. Mogo, Dubbo, and Canberra are also high on my list of zoos to visit - just have to find boarding for the 4 dogs and accommodation in either place for a day or two to make it worthwhile. A friend is currently quoting a big roofing job in Canberra, so if he gets it, he will be living there for a while to do the job - can bunk with him for that... and I have a zookeeper friend in Dubbo who I could probably lob with for a few days... oh and a friend in Bateman's Bay (near Mogo)... Damn! What am I waiting for? (apart from a job so I can afford to do all of the above... lol!) T.

So... since being made redundant last month, I've been indulging myself a bit at my fave Sydney zoos... camera in tow... I'm pretty darned chuffed with the results too... https://www.flickr.com/photos/tdierikx/sets/ Feel free to peruse at your leisure (or not)... *grin* T.

Dogs are generally immune to Funnel Web spider venom... unless they are allergic, then you'll see pretty quick symptoms and need to get them to a vet - like with a bee sting... My Harper was playing with a Funnel Web the other week... picking it up and swooshing it about in her mouth then spitting it out. It was arcing up at her each time she went to pick it up too - one seriously unhappy Funnel Web! Then I squashed it and spoiled all her fun... *sigh* T.

Hacked Yahoo account? May need to check you can still access that too... T.

Ummm... can you send little Smoke to me please perse? He is too adorable for words! T.

You could send it off to Canon... they aren't quick with their turnaround though... they will send you a quote for the repair work needed. T.

Huntsman bites can affect small mammals - at worst they may paralyse a limb (or part thereof) for a while. Overall, they are pretty harmless venom-wise to larger dogs. I was bitten by a Huntsman once on my neck - it came up in this huge nasty boil like thing and was not fun at all! Horrid scuttly things must die if they come in my house! T.

Hahaha! Teamwork at it's finest! T.

Harper will play with Funnel Webs, but can't be bothered with Huntsmans... stupid dog! The other 3 won't lift a paw to earn their keep around here either... grrr! You should have seen them when I had mice... just sat and watched them, but wouldn't try to catch them unless they were already dead... *sigh* T.

Don't you love such exhuberance? Gruf is thoroughly enjoying his hunt... lol! T.
-
The general rule when a dog is attacking you is to make yourself as small a target as possible and don't offer any major resisitance, as this could aggravate the attacking dog into attempting to do even more damage. That said - sometimes you may need to fight back in certain circumstances - and in that case, aim for the chest area with as hard a kick as you can, preferably with your heel... that is the most vulnerable spot. Sydney Dogs and Cats Home at Carlton? I'm sure they'd love some extras... ... or Fairford Rd Vet (Canterbury Pound)... T. -
We need more ball boys like them methinks! T.

She may just have a UTI... course of AB's will fix it. Don't panic, just go to the vet and have her checked over, OK? It's most likely something benign... T.

Squeeee!!! Puppy cuteness overload! T.

Look to get a vibration collar for the pup... they don't shock, just vibrate, and cue the dog to look for the owner so they can get the visual command. T.

I think I want a bucket of boxers now... *grin* T.
