My Lab has been taught to stay on her side of the bed... I don't like them lying on me either... *grin* T.

One could buy a second hand car for the prices some petshops have on their crossbred pups... who has that sort of money for an impulse buy? Dut those same people who do, will question paying $350 for a fully vaccinated, desexed, wormed, and health/temperament checked rescue dog/pup... go figure? T.

Have you seen the mess a large litter of Labrador - or any large breed - pups can make? When I had a Rotti litter (registered/pedigreed), they were inside until 3-4 weeks, then we had to move them outside. From 4-6 weeks of age, we had them set up on a section of the deck, with a covered snuggle box and plenty of running around space. We made a really cool large pen under the house where we could secure them when we were out or at night once they were 6 weeks old. They had all of the creature comforts in there... I might add that we could stand under the house as it was set fairly high. T.

Sounds very much like Lubutu... Lubutu used to run to Lulu after he'd settled a dispute, and she'd give him a cuddle and all would be fine with the world again. After Lulu passed, poor Lubutu now goes to Lisa, who is not quite the same with her support - but she seems to be taking on the role reluctantly... lol! T.

With our chimp group at Taronga, Lubutu is the alpha because he's the most politically correct of the boys... the girls prefer his style of leadership as opposed to the chest thumping and testosterone charged displays of the other boys. Considering that Lubutu also became alpha at 8 years of age, and has held the position for some 14 years, methinks he must be doing something right, yes? Is Tsotsi's style of leadership similar to Lubutu's? He looks more of a gentle soul than one ready to impose himself physically to make a point. T.

I think I'm falling a little bit in love with Tsotsi... he's such a character... T.

He is such a smart boy... and he adores his human! T.

Your dad is a bit of a looker... even at 84! That's a gorgeous photo of him too... T.

Cold water can aggravate reflux... it used to play havoc on mine! Room temp or warmer water is better. T.

He's an 8 week old pup who has just been removed from his mother and littermates and all that he's ever known... he's going to want to be with/near YOU for a while until he gets some confidence in his new surroundings. This is going to sound very judgemental, but why on earth did you get a dog if you aren't prepared to share yourself fully with him? Especially in these early days when he needs you for security/comfort the most? Just think how you'd feel if you were invited to live with someone, and then they decided when and where you were allowed to have any contact with them.... effectively freezing you out unless THEY wanted your company for a while... T.

There's nothing better than waking up in the morning with a dog butt in your face... lol! Dogs are normally companion animals... they have a need to be with their family/humans... hence the crying from this little baby who has suddenly been taken away from all he has known and thrust into a completely different environment and is being asked to cope on his own. It doesn't have to be a permanent arrangement having him inside at night... just for as long as it takes for him to be confident with his own company at night. T.

She's so pretty it almost hurts! Those eyes just make me melt... I like Neko's mouse better than the one Zeddy found in my back yard the other day... lol! T.

Zeddy started going grey at around 12 years... now at nearly 16, she has grey face, grey feet, and it's spreading down her chest and belly... Trouble is blonde, but recently I noticed that she's actually gone a bit grey in the face... she's 9. Harper is blue brindle, and started going grey around her face at around 18 months... she's nearly 3 now. Pickles is the only one who hasn't got any grey... she's nearly 5. T.

At the very least a Vizsla greeting, and I heard a Rotti might also greet in similar fashion... Yes... it IS a Rotti morning greeting as well... *grin* T.

New Puppy - Stressed Owner - Crate Training/yelping
tdierikx replied to Blackdog10's topic in Puppy Chat
Bring the crate inside - into your bedroom. He will settle faster if he can see you from the crate - even if you are sleeping. I fostered nearly 200 puppies over the years I was in rescue - the crate in the bedroom definitely works. I would also give them a pig's ear to chew on if they woke up during the night. T. -
Definitely bring the crate into the bedroom - even if it's the only time the pup comes inside. He will settle a LOT faster if he can see his humans and know he's not alone. I fostered nearly 200 pups over the years, and I can guarantee that they definitely settle faster if they can see you from their bed. I suggest that the crate has a plastic bucket-bed with warm bedding and a teddy around the same size as the pup to snuggle up to... to simulate a litter-mate. Just remember - if it's annoying the hell out of you, the neighbours aren't going to be happy about it either. T.

No that was Dimples now known as 'Sapper' much loved by his dad Andrew Mind you Sapper was a snot of a puppy the day after his 'Puppy Pre-School Graduation' he did this ... little bugger lol Ummm... isn't that a normal morning greeting from a Labrador puppy though? T.

When I had my thyroid out, my mother was staying at my house and looking after 2 of my dogs... she rang me about an hour after I'd been wheeled back into the ward, still groggy from the anaesthetic, to ask if Zeddy had a tick near her eye... it was a big mole and had been there for ages, including the 3 days prior to me going into hospital when my mum was at my house... T.

She just gets cuter and cuter! T.
