  1. Great way to start... and if you are wanting to learn the settings to use in manual modes, you can look at the EXIF data on the photos that you have already taken to get a guideline from them... *grin* If you want to see what my Canon camera gives me in Sports mode - very similar output to the Nikons - check out all these photos of dogs... http://s6.photobucket.com/user/tdierikx/library/?sort=3&page=1 T.
  2. The last place I worked, one woman used to get the sweats on whenever I even mentioned my dogs... she was that deathly scared of them... *sigh* T.
  3. Vom bombs... all part of the joy of raising puppies... lol! On a side note... I used to feed my Rotties Advance... until the bag from hell. They were barfing and squirting all over the place after the second feed from the 20kg bag. Not fed Advance since... Maybe they could try Royal Canin? I used to have great success with Royal Canin with my fosters. T.
  4. But they will be going potty outside by then... lol! T.
  5. Toilet training will probably be the most frustrating part of having pups... but trust me when I say that it WILL click one day in the not too distant future. Focus on all the good things they are learning and doing and don't overthink the toilet training part, OK? Puppies are to be enjoyed fully... they don't stay little and funny cute forever! T.
  6. I can't see past those eyes... he loves his human SO MUCH! T.
  7. Over 7 years of fostering puppies, I found that the boys were faster to learn to not to eliminate in their crates, but took longer to house train... and the girls were the opposite... go figure? Hang in there Sheridan, one day it will just click for both of them, and you'll look back on this thread and wonder what all the fuss was about. T.
  8. DCW are definitely Aussie warranty... and their after sales service is awesome as well. I had an issue with my 100-400mm lens and they handled all of the getting it back to Canon for servicing/repair without any fuss. T.
  9. Yep - wonky dog - that's me... well, that's Pickles anyways. Pickles' issue is mainly mobility wonkiness - she has a scar in her brain that affects the feeling in her legs, and thusly walks like a marionette. Her cognitive function is not affected, but she's a stubborn little bitch at times... lol! Pickles took some time to work out when she needed to wee or poo and that she also needed to go outside to do same. I basically left the back door open at all times, and she followed my older dogs out when they needed to go to the toilet - she worked it out eventually (by about 6 months of age), and now goes outside on her own to go to the toilet, but if the back door is shut, she will still eliminate in the house... *sigh*... she will be 5 in September... The beautiful thing about owning a "special needs" dog is that they really don't know any different - it's all perfectly normal for them... lol! T.
  10. Digital Camera Warehouse will sell the 70D with the Tamron 18-270mm... http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/prod10254.htm ... just sayin'... And they have a store in Annerly... T.
  11. I'd buy the body and the Tamron 18-270mm or the 16-300mm - forget the kit 18-55mm, as you'll be covering that range with either of the other 2... T.
  12. Tamron and Sigma lenses are usually pretty good value for money. I love my Tamron 18-270mm - lightweight and great image quality for the price. The longer zoom lenses start to get pretty heavy - my Canon 100-400mm toook a bit of getting used to, but now it lives on my camera pretty much all the time. I have developed impressive biceps though... For a starter lens, I'd definitely suggest checking out the Tamron 18-270mm... or even looking at the newer 28-300mm one... gives you a nice wide range, and doesn't require a mortgage on the house to buy. T.
  13. Zeddy got a new big warm bed and a fleecy lined jacket... so far doing a good job of keeping her old creaky bones warm overnight. Harper got a new fleecy lined jacket too... T.
  14. It's not exactly as simple as that sometimes... rehoming wasn't an option for me... my choices were euthanaise or use separation methods. Separation methods include the use of a crate at times, and it works just fine for me and my dogs - everyone gets their share of one-on-one time with me, and those that can run together do so on a rotating basis. It might seem like a lot of hard work, but once the routine is in place, everyone benefits. T.
  15. I have to play switchy-swapsies with a couple of dogs here that don't get on too... and they love their crates... gives them time to snooze unmolested... lol! T.
  16. Dunny rolls and paper towel rolls... best puppy toy ever! And they are fully digestible... lol! T.
  17. The small dog at my house is 15kgs... lol! How it seems to read to me is that the "small dog, similar in size to Wags" may have been of a particular breed type that gets a bad rap in the press... that is probably the only "small dog" I can think of that could kill with a single bite and shake... Passing the buck... and certainly NOT taking responsibility effectively. T.
  18. Don't feel down... puppies are always one step froward 3 steps back... lol! The last time I had one that did that attention barking, it got penned in a different room with the door shut until it worked out that being quiet got it more of the attention it sought. I'm a mean bitch! T.
  19. Beagle puppy and slim black Labrador... ROFL! T.
  20. Sometimes I think we may also be over-thinking how we raise our dogs... at the end of the day, they are still dogs, not mini-me human clones... Not all dogs are going to want to be 100% human/dog/cat/pocket-pet/cattle friendly - just like not all humans brought up together will be the same temperamentally. This constant worrying about "am I doing this puppy raising correctly" may do more harm than good if we push too hard to mould a dog into something it just will never be. T.
  21. What a gorgeous old girl... go Gertie! T.
  22. *sticks hand up to take said black dog* *giggle* T.
  23. Trouble was wet stinky last night... but she'd been out in the rain being a typical Labrador for about an hour. She had the option to come inside and veg on the couch (my back door is always open), but she decided getting drenched was more fun... grrr! Took nearly 2 hours in front of the heater to get her almost dry too! Ratbag dog! T.
  24. Shhhh! Don't give away all the secrets! When people ask meabout how I get nice photos, I just say "I point the really expensive thing at something interesting and press the magic clicky button"... lol! I used to get people commenting on my fractal art with "oh, you use a computer program to do that, so anyone must be able to do it"... ummm... it acually wasn't that simple, but feel free to give it a go mate... the program is free, but the talent to use it well comes at a price... lol! T.
