  1. We still have Baylee's bowl in place 18 months after her passing, and Dee eats in her spot next to Baylee's and Zeph in his, as if she was still here. It just seems right that way, and the dogs aren't confused. Just a suggestion My guys get fed in separate rooms... one less door to make sure is closed... *sigh* I'm sure Tess will be showing Zeddy the ropes, and where the best sunny spot for snoozing is... T.
  2. Still wouldn't have changed the last 2 years for anything... Zeddy was a really nice dog all around, and will be missed in all sorts of ways... T.
  3. Thanks all... it hits us all when things like this happen, yes? There but for the grace of God and all that... I must say that it was so much easier on me that I'd had some exposure to the whole process during my rescue years - I know that I can handle what is happening, and even though it's my own dog that I've had for nearly 16 years as a faithful companion, I wasn't a blubbering mess for the poor vet to have to cope with on top of doing the one job they all really don't like. Its kinda strange that she's not here, but also a little bit of a relief that it's all over now... and I'm not waiting for the day to come any more. Those of you with elderly and infirm dogs will know exactly what I'm talking about here... Pickles is enjoying having access to my bed with Trouble when I go out... she used to be Zeddy's companion when I left the house, and they only had the kitchen and back yard access... as I had to keep Trouble and Zeddy separate. Now Pickles has access to the rest of the house, and Trouble has access to the yard also. I'm sure they will both get used to the new routine pretty quickly... *grin* The tears will come at dinner time, when I'm one bowl short... T.
  4. I bet they've all but trashed it by now... lol! T.
  5. Thanks all... it's kinda wierd here this morning, as the usual routine has had to change. Now that I no longer have to keep Trouble and Zeddy separate, Trouble was reluctant to not go into her crate this morning... and she's refusing to share Zeddy's bed in the computer room with Pickles... or more likely Pickles won't let Trouble share it... *sigh* I'm sure they will settle into the new routines soonish. Pickles and Harper appear to be pretty oblivious to the fact we are now a 3 dog household - which is strange because Pickles spent the most time with Zeddy, and apart from not letting Trouble on Zeddy's bed, she's not all that phased at all. Dinner time is going to be interesting... I'll have to change that routine a bit too, as Zeddy used to be fed first. As for me, I'm actually handling it all pretty well... Zeddy was never going to live forever, and I've internally been preparing for this for some time now. I hope I made it easier for the young vet that had to do the deed last night by not being a complete blithering mess... T.
  6. Poor old Woosie is gonna have to share her beddy at the Bridge tonight... she'll see Zeddy right though... T.
  7. Thanks all... it's nice to know that others are thinking of us at times like this... Zeddy sprouted wings and flew to the Rainbow Bridge to be with her old mate Woosie at 00:30am... it was just her time... Nearly 16 years of being one of the best dogs anyone could ever have hoped to share their lives with... thank you Zeddy... I love you, you old fart! T.
  8. Here I was boasting about how well old Zeddy was going one month shy of her 16th birthday... and now I have to take her to the emergency vet at midnight on a Sunday night because she can't walk and appears to be in quite some pain... I'm afraid she won't be coming home with me later. Please say a prayer or send some loving vibes for my dear old girl to send her off properly... T.
  9. A drop of peppermint oil on their collars before a car ride should slow down the urge to upchuck everywhere... let it dry some before putting the collar on to avoid any skin reaction to the oil though... T.
  10. Go Maccles! You hang in there and have the best 16th birthday party ever, OK? T.
  11. Harper was fine getting her nails done as a puppy, but as soon as her adult claws developed, she freaks out at the click noise it makes when they get cut. I've taken 2 years to be able to maybe get 2 nails done at a time now... grr! I'm glad that Pickles' wierd mobility issue means that she drags her paws some and keeps them shortish herself - because no-one can get near her feet at all! T.
  12. Zeddy's birthday is 28th August... T.
  13. One of mine (Harper) has never had a bath in her life... and she'd probably defecate in one if you tried it! Pickles goes all Tassie Devil with cerebral palsy if you try to make her wet... errr! Trouble and Zeddy were brought up with the "I don't care if you don't like it, it's gonna happen" method, and they do fine having a bath - even though they get that hang dog look while it's happening... lol! T.
  14. My old girl Zeddy will be 16 next month... and last winter she needed Meloxicam in order to get out of bed in the mornings... This winter is colder and wetter, and she is coping just fine with her new fleecy lined coat and new high sided beddy... go figure! Wouldn't change them for the world though, would we? T.
  15. Pups are such fun, aren't they? The best you can do is only reward when she's quiet... take Roo off somewhere and leave her to her own devices in her crate or another room where the noise is dampened some. T.
  16. There is such intelligence in those eyes... Don is such a spunk! T.
  17. It's so hard to make the quality/quantity decisions... my heart aches for you westiemum. I would probably go the quality route if that's what agrees with Mac the best... and make whatever time he has left comfortable... pretty much what you are already doing, yes? Please give Mac (and the rest of the gang) lovey cuddles from Aunty T... T.
  18. Glad to hear he's doing OK today westiemum... hang in there! T.
  19. He's finally a big boy! T.
  20. Ernie looks good Stressy... definitely not a huge porker like some Labs get. My girl is much leaner than Ernie, but she's also 9 years old, so I keep her at just under the 3 score. Upside is that she still plays zoomies like a 2 year old... lol! I have the opposite problem with Pickles (the Spastic Camp Dog)... she eats more than Trouble the Lab, even though she's half the size, but it's almost impossible to keep the weight on her - add to that the fact that her muscle tone is all wrong due to her mobility issues, and she's one funny looking skinny binny. T.
  21. Oh westiemum... I hope Mac is feeling better this morning, and last night was a one-off... hang in there! T.
  22. Look at those lovely long legs! T.
  23. Sometimes it pays to be the littlest one in the pack... lol! T.
  24. I'd still get mine from here... http://www.digitalcamerawarehouse.com.au/category1380_1.htm As you can see, their prices are a bit better than JB HiFi... the savings JB are telling you aren't all that much really... I'd get the camera and the Tamron 18-270mm lens set myself... T.
  25. All 4 of mine do it... and I've pretty much given up all hope of it stopping... Zeddy is 16 next month... T.
