  1. I'd probably say that at this stage, is the vet of the opinion that the issue can be fixed without surgery or intrusive/expensive treatments? It could be that with a decent diet and some positive physical therapy, the pup could come good and have no lasting issues... fingers crossed for that outcome by the way... This may just be a hiccup in the pup's development, yes? T.
  2. Fingers crossed that it isn't hemangiosarcoma, and that Hobbes gets better quickly... T.
  3. How sleek are their coats... such fine healthy little munchkins! T.
  4. 1080 baits don't work all that well with cats... as they are less likely to take the dried up meat that it's in... Works quite well on some native (and endangered) carnivores - and foxes - though... *sigh* The only effective way to cull rural feral cats is to shoot on sight... not pleasant, but totally effective nonetheless. Urban feral cats may see a reduction using TNR, but there would have to be a hell of a lot of people out there trapping, and an equally large number of vets willing to neuter for peanuts. Baiting is a lazy way of attempting to cull... and it's NOT as effective as other more man-hour intensive methods. T.
  5. Her eyesight may be the reason she's a little disoriented at night... my old girl was funny at night due to poor night vision... she was also selectively deaf. Couldn't hear me telling her to move right beside her, but could hear the lid opening on the food storage bucket from the other end of the house... lol! I suppose I was "lucky" with my girl, it all happened quite suddenly when one night she just collapsed and couldn't stand up any more... she left no doubt that it was her time. Up until the final couple of hours all was fine... She collapsed at 11pm, and was given her wings at 12 midnight... it had to be a Sunday night, didn't it? T.
  6. 2 million cats to cull by 2020 - out of approximately 20 million population... won't make a dent in the cat population at all - does this dick have any idea how fast they breed? I suppose they think they need to be seen to be "doing something"... even if it's not going to make one iota of difference in the long run. T.
  7. I have a dog here with a neurological issue which means that she knuckles over occasionally. When she was a pup, she had little splints made for her front legs/feet to assist her to learn to walk properly. Maybe this would help your little one in the short term too? Talk to your vet about the possibility at least... My dog is nearly 5 now, and she can't feel her legs properly, so occasionally she still knuckles over - especially when tired. A simple "OI" from me alerts her to the fact, and she rearranges her feet... training worked there... lol! T.
  8. Love how they are denying that it may be their collar that caused the issue... *sigh* T.
  9. OMG! Funniest thing ever! Way to go Smoke! T.
  10. He's a boy... some things come a little slower... lol! T.
  11. Percy has work ethic... go Percy! T.
  12. It depends on the pup, and the experience of the surgeon... *grin* Had so many foster pups who literally were bouncing off the walls post surgery... none had any complications. Pups heal so fast! T.
  13. Different ages for different bitches... most were of the same breed too. Had one bitch who cycled every THREE months - you could set your clock by it too! Was so glad to have her spayed... T.
  14. They are getting a little older now... focus will get better... *grin* T.
  15. Looking good! Come on Pudding... you can get better sweetie! T.
  16. Hang in there Pudding... we're all sending our best get well vibes sweetie! Don't beat yourself up about it kirty... these things can happen to any of us... no matter how careful we may be. Dogs are just super good at getting themelves into things they shouldn't... *sigh* Hugs to you! T.

  18. Fingers crossed they all come through... Hugs from me and mine to you and yours... T.
  19. The wet weather wouldn't have anything to do with it, could it? One of my dogs won't get her feet wet... bloody princess Dane cross at that! Try having that sized poop inside... errr! T.
  20. Wow! They've grown heaps! Good work Jolie! T.
  21. I've seen rescue pups thinning on the top of their heads... we used to put it down to diet, and changed them up to more premium or raw feeds... tended to clear up pretty quickly. Could also be worm burden... breeder needs to worm the pups every 2 weeks... T.
  22. My very young foster pups were almost free feeding... they'd get the chicken mince (human grade) 4 times a day, and a constantly topped up bowl of kibble on hand for if they felt peckish in between. They never turned their nose up at the chicken, and they'd graze on the kibble during the day also. The really young pup got around 25g of chicken mince per feed, and then she had the option of kibble... that was it... *grin*... they won't starve themselves to death. She double her weight in a week, and had caught up to her littermates in 2.5 weeks - then she went back with them until mum kicked them all off the boob. They were all only comfort feeding from her by that point anyways. T.
  23. Brilliant photos of dogs having a blast... love them all! T.
