I own both breeds, and in my opinion most SBT's and Amstaffs play rough. My dogs have quite good doggy manners, but yes they do like to be very physical in play.... and noisy! I'd suggest you just monitor the play until the pup is a little older and give both dogs a break when things get too rough. Maybe gets some toys and play with both dogs so they are still together but not wrestling. When your pup gets a little older, I'm sure she'll tell off the SBT if she's being too rough.

I made the mistake of letting my pup play freely with my 2 adult dogs. When she was 16 weeks she got body slammed in play by my adult amstaff and rolled down the hill in my backyard. She tore the muscle in her shoulder really badly and had to be kept quiet and away from the other two for 3 months and have weekly sessions at the chiro. At 8 months she still hasn't healed completly. She has muscle wastage and I now need to start hydrotherapy to built that shoulder up. All this is on a show pup that we have high hopes for.... if we ever get the shoulder right Please be very careful with a young growing puppy.

She looks fine to me. How old is she? She's very cute, congrats.

I like to keep my dogs on the lean side too. My amstaff male weighs 28kg at 2 1/2 years old. I hate hearing people talk about how their amstaff weights 40kg.... like it's a good thing :D

This is my Dad's cav bitch feeding his kittens whose mother went missing. She started producing milk for them after taking them on as her own babies.

I have had no problems with mine either and we use it pretty much every weekend. I really need a bigger one but maybe I'll just buy another compact since they're on sale

I have no problem showing at Erskine Park... I actually much prefer it there than the local shows held around wollongong. My husband and i have only been showing for the past 1 1/2 yrs and there have been lots and lots of lovely helpful people. I can count the number of bad experiences on one hand.

Missy has been given valium but is hasn't worked. I'm going to stick a t-shirt on her now and see if it helps. Crackers are still going off but seem to be getting less so hopefully they stop soon.

It's a disaster at my place. My stafford missy has been in serious pannic mode for the last 5hrs. There are constant fireworks being let off nearby. Sedatives havn't made any difference and she's broken another crate. I tried locking her in the dog trailer but she's smashing around so much i think she'll damage it too much. Seriously don't know what to do or where to put her.... She is so distressed i can't contain her. It's funny because she has never acted this bad before

2 Big Staffies Moving In Next Door
3Woofs replied to dreamelicious's topic in General Dog Discussion
You could always put that brush fencing stuff up against the inside of your fence to stop the dogs seeing each other. This should help with any fence running/barking. My stafford couldn't care less about other dogs, never barks (except at the lawnmower), and pretty much just lays in the sun all day.... so there's every chance you'll have a couple like mine move in next door -
lol see you there!

ok thanks for that... I entered online so I'm sure i'll be right
-
Thanks.... does that mean I just pick them up on the day? I've always received my numbers by post so not sure what to do
-
Hi, Has anyone got their numbers for the Parramatta and District show this sunday?
-
Thanks guys... I noted the house number this morning and will be calling the ranger but will also not be walking around my area in the near future.... I'll stick to the bike track
-
I can't avoid this house because I have to go past it to get out of my street. I usually drive to the local bike track and walk there, but I've been short of time lately so I thought I'd take each dog for a walk around the block.... looks like I'll be going back to the bike track. My poor pup hasn't really been for many walks due to an injury that needed time to heal, so it wasn't a pleasant experience for her to be rushed by these dogs.
-
Thanks.... I didn't have my phone with me Yeah I didn't get smart back because they live too close.... I'm actually wondering if I should report them or not since they know where I live and will know it was me if the ranger turns up.

Once again my pup and I have been rushed at by offlead dogs! I seriously feel like crying. I can't seem to walk my dogs anywhere without being approached my dogs offlead. This time it was down my street where I was rushed by 5 yes 5 staffords. They seemed shocked at my screaming at them in a deep voice and stomping up and down which gave the owner's enough time to grab them. Oh but then "I" get abused for asking for them to have the dogs on lead or locked up when I walk past on the way back. Apparently their dogs are friendly so it's OK to let them run free posturing and rushing at other dogs! And I was trying to be nice and say it's not about how friendly their dogs are and then silly me thought one of them said sorry but no it was more abuse being hurled at me. Then they stayed out the front of their house and I got mimicked and laughed at as I returned home. I'm fuming right about now and I didn't think to look at what the house number is so will have to wait until the morning to call the ranger.

Whats The Best Gossip You Heard About Yourself Or Your Dogs?
3Woofs replied to MonElite's topic in General Dog Discussion
Apparently my husband, who just turned 30, is having an affair with another exhibitor who we are friends with, who is in her 50's lol. There were a couple of shows recently where they set up together and I wasn't there.... I'm sure that kept the rumour mill going! :D -
My dogs as pups would've gone mental being left inside in a small area all day. They much prefered to bound around in the sunshine, run on the grass, and sleep in the sun Just continue to leave kongs, toys, and access to a nice warm dry area, and your pup will be fine.

My boy Buster (Ch Skylarulz Hell Razor) got Aus Bred in Show today at the Children's Cancer Charity show under Mrs M Boyd (NZ) :D I couldn't believe it! Not bad for a dog that was bought as just a pet and I had no intention of showing Now all I need to do is find out how to get a copy of the photo

Inverted canines are common in staffords..... even from registered ethical breeders. Please get him checked out if they are piercing the top palate. Not only is this very painful, it also allows bacteria to get into the holes. Even if he is eating fine, he is probably in pain. Staffords are tough and don't always show how much pain they really are in. Blah... can't be bothered going back to read 10 pages of the same comments that are written every couple of weeks when a new blue stafford thread pops up.

I'm in Wollongong and I got mine today

I'll be there all three days with my 2 amstaffs Hope it's not as hot as last year!
