Thank you for your replies (And the video!). He was ok with the JG in his food last night, so will be making my way to the pet store and getting RHV. I hope he can soon become a great testimonial mascot like Ness!

Hi all, Was looking for peoples experiences/advise on using Joint Guard & Rose Hip - both seperately and combined. My sisters soon to be 6yo GSD was diagnosed with severe arthritis of the coccyx and mild hip dysplasia. He had his first injection yesterday and has been given Prolet anti-inflammatories. In addition to this I went and purchased Joint Guard this morning from MPW. I was torn between that and RHV, however as the ingredients are so different, I know glucosamine and MSM can be very helpful with arthritis. The reviews of both products have been good from what I've read. I called the vet today to see if I could give both supplements. They confirmed it wouldn't interfere with his medications etc that the vet has prescribed and said using the 2 should be ok. Can he have both joint guard and RHV? I thought we would start the Joint guard today, test and monitor he is ok with it, and pending that he is, then introduce RHV. Does anyone have any experience or opinions in using both supplements? Its not a doubling up of ingredients, so don't see it to be an issue. I know cost could be an issue, but its not a concern for his quality of life. I just wanted to check with experienced people before going ahead and making the second purchase. I've also facebooked RHV asking the question as well. Thanks in advance :)

Hi, I am seeking some help or suggestions from other dog owners who have pets diagnosed with EPI. As the title suggests, my 22 month old male GSD was recently diagnosed with EPI after having the blood test showing his TLI as 1 (Normal rates are 5.4 I believe). The vet recommended I move him onto Eukanuba Low Residue (Highly digestible, low fibre) biscuits. These biscuits can only be obtained from a vet once EPI has been diagnosed. They are more advanced than other brands as they allow the dog to put back on the weight they've lost. He is currently having 5 cups of biscuits a day, split into 2 meals. On top of the biscuits, the vet has prescribed Creon Forte (25,000 Unit). These are extracted from a pigs' pancrease and are a enzyme supplement. Originally the dose of Creon started at 8 tablets per day. Because the 'number 2' situation was not improved I have slowly been increasing it. On Monday I increase it again to 12 tablets. The vet said that I should see a change within 24 hours. Unfortunately no change has been seen, so today I have increased the dose to 16. My vet mentioned that he has a border collie who has 10 a day, and considering my boy weights 40kg it would be significantly higher. He is also on antiobiotics in the event that he has SIBO (Bacterical overgrowth). He is having 3 tablets a day and has been on them for 1 week tomorrow. I've been doing a bit of research myself, and have found that Creon come in a higher dose of 40,000. I am waiting for the vet to call me back this evening or tomorrow, to discuss changing over to the higher dose, as well as other possible explanations as to why there has been no real improvement (Although his stool output has decreased back to once a day - which is good). My main concern is the consistency of the stool is not all that improved, as it isn't firm. My questions are.. Has anyone used Creon as a supplement when dealing with canine EPI? If so, what dose did you find met your pets requirements? (If you can list your pets weight so I can compare that would be great). I understand that all dogs are different, I'm just looking for some advise from other people who may have found themselves in this situation and want to know how it was treated. Thanks

Ruby Having Cruciate Surgery
sunnyy replied to Dog_Horse_Girl's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Hi Lillysmum, I wish your pup a speedy recovery. One of my dogs, a staffy, blew her cruciate 2 years ago. Do you know what type of surgery she is having? Brandi my staffy needed to stay in a cage for 7 days following the surgery from memory, so I needed to hire a cage from a place here in Perth. -
Hi Rusky, Have replied to your PM. I have been seeing Garth, down Armadale way and Joondalup. I haven't been for a few months admittedly, but that's because I feel that the area is too hostile. All the dogs there are aggressive and I don't think that is a good way at getting him to feel safe with other dogs.. especially when they want to bite each others head off. Thanks for your help Missmoo - Thanks for your help as well. I completely agree with you which is why I'm looking into other avenues now. I'm going to need a shoulder replacement before I hit 30 otherwise

Missmoo.. it's basically a setting which has x amount of dogs that all have problems socialising. The one that I go too at the moment have angry dogs everywhere - In front, next to you, behind, etc. I think this puts him more on edge so am looking for one that is a bit leaner. You basically walk around in big circles, so the dogs pass each other and train them to not jump/bark/growl/other bad things.

Hi All, I have a German Shepherd (17 months old) who has been going to anti social training on and off for the past 10 months. Unfortunately it isn't helping and I am looking for something new. The place I have been going to was recommended by my vet and is run my an animal behaviourist. Does anyone know of any training in Perth, WA that might be able to assist with this?
