I am going off topic here but have a 3 sheep trialing bitch, we dont have many 3 sheep trials hereabouts (we dont have much of any thing) wondering if I get her gong for yard trials will it wreck her for 3 sheep work eg: the closeness etc? Just wondering the experts opinions? thanks ruth

Re jumping I have a big rescue kelpie here who would launch himself at me and get to eye level, I looked in some training books and I found the best one was turn my back on him and cross my arms,it really works he now comes up and sits so nicely at my feet waiting for his pat :)it is so cool and such a change. I have an itchy dog too, it only takes one lone wandering flea to set off flea bite dermatitis in some dogs, she is on tablets and a rinse and still scratching and a barf diet as well it is so frustrating going to try wool wash tomorrow.

My Sweet Jena, u will know and as Kelly Louise said you look at them and they are already gone really. I felt this with my old horse and my old dog so so painfull for us but easy for them and the greatest gift we can give them is a release from pain.

Yah for Perry its not the dogs that fail usually I have two here retuned and one is trial quaility the other is coming along nicley. Hope Janine sees these pictures she will be impressed.

coolibahkoolies, I can imagine how you must be feeling. YES, I would ask your vet to get in another brand. I would tell them that you have had bad experiences with this brand and there is no way that you will use it again. Any decent vet would understand after what you have been through - if not - find another one. I would rather inconvenience the vet (sorry to the vets out there ) than risk another episode such as you have had. Although, if it was me (and before anyone jumps on me, Im stating what I would do after the research I have done) I would just be doing a non Fort Dodge C3 vacc at 12 weeks and thats it. End of story. It has been so long since I have vaxed now - I cant remember :D what age is the second vacc at? Jen Thanks Jenny, I will ask her if she can get other brand and also think i will ring the other vet and see if he stocks the other brand as i will be closer to him in the morning 50 ks or so. My vet is great but not once did she ever make any suggestion that the vaccinations could of been the cause of Buddies death or why daisy got so bloody sick after being vaccinated twice ? there was no point testing for parvo as she had the vac in her system I suppose it is like drs we go to them to make us better or in this case to prevent the worst happening, it is devestating when it goes wrong. This block has only had a house on it for 4 years previous owners only had one old german shepherd, was virgin bush before the house was built, If it was parvo and vets allways call any thing resembling it parvo I find I must of picked it up on my shoes in town. :p No others got sick just two babie.?

Ok guys here is a real life senareo I am picking up 3 puppies in the morning, they have had 1st vacination due for second I know my vet only has fort dodge what do I do? ask her to get other brand in specially? I am so frightened after what happened to daisy and buddy I cant sleep. :D Edited to add after Buddy died with no symptoms. Daisy vomited twice on the monday morning they had had the vaccs on the previous Friday morning. I raced her to the vet where she spent 5 days on a drip had plasma etc we made the decision to give her her wings after 5 days Next closest vet is 200 ks away? I know that lots of people in the USA and vets will not use fort dodge and there is alot of info on the net regarding such happenings. Thanks Ruth

I had a pup die earlier this year Buddy as well, he died within 24 hours of his second vacc only syptoms were flatness he simply died Same vac.

Ah my friend what you do is so selfless and generous to take these old darlings into your heart and home, Molly was so lucky to loved by you and Mr R and she will rest easy now, thank you, from one rescuer who is too chicken to take the oldies on. Run free special girl :p

I have not bought a bag of dog biscuits for months.I cant speak highly enough of the change in my dogs in every way they are on total raw and what a difference coats are shiny and soft poos are wonderful, and I am sure that their behavior is calmer with out all the carbs firing them up. It has been very difficult to source the ammount I need, but have now a supplier from Dubbo who deliveres every week so I am set I use frames necks and meat offcuts and at a good price. My old girl does not scratch any more either. ;) Ruth

Bones the radio on, a big run so they are tired all these things help and all work for some dogs.

It is very nerve racking when this happens I know as we are going through it the muzzles I use are soft nylon with mesh air gaps will take a photo for you.
