I have had people walk a dog in my dogs face / personal space, I can't understand it either. I can speculate why they would do it. I personally wouldn't do it for any of my speculations. I would be feeling angry if I had to give my dog a quick tap/ check due to the actions of another and would also be angry of being accused of cruelty due to that persons actions. Don't beat yourself up over it Mixeduppup, I think most would be peed off about being placed in that situation.

See I would just say OK have a nice day and jog on.

I don't know how thick someone can be in regards to being registered and breeding X breeds? What is to stop them now or in the future. Educate us.

Opportunistic, someone simply likes a dog, wants it so steals it for a personal pet. To on sell, making some quick cash buyers are either already lined up or easily found. Taken for breeding to sell future offspring. Gambling sports such as seen within dog fighting, either organised professionally or non organised. I have found convictions on people for all 4 types of dog theft in Australia doing a simple search, there are others but are mainly offshoots related to those four. J.

I was just going on that latest article posted, If the police want to be dismissive of dog thefts then I don't know, the reports will either escalate or die down. Theres only 4 main reasons why a dog is stolen. And to dismiss any of it is treating people with contempt.
-
It was the media who portrayed Tank (RIP) as being stolen for fighting, certainly not his owners when the turned to facebook to help find him, they just reported him stolen to the police who didn't even take a statement from them. Sorry but I think the police are chasing the wrong tail, everyone knows how a frenzy starts.

Yes Australia has lacked for a very long time, i do hope these groups like socare are influencing change I also hope they join up with the other groups calling for it making them stronger in numbers..

Yep horrid for sure have seen a pic of scores of puppies with a smiling asswipe proud in the fact of his work.

What I would find very interesting result is if someone sent in a swab of themselves and see what dog mix you come back as! I'm sorry but a leading genetic mob sent out a result to a woman * not dog related* that she had a massive risk of having prostate cancer. These people are just scum and should all be shut down as it is straight out fraud.

OLD GEESE WTF! Theres some sad sack people around.

Ouch I hope your dog isn't sore for too long and recovers fast, nasty stuff. I nearly cut my little toe off on a broken bottle when I was a kid hooning around barefoot as kids do, some very inconsiderate people about.

This turned out to be a false alarm, I know this as it was at my place. The vehicle belongs to a member of the club next to my paddock. He was there on the mobil phone and the neighbor thought he had binoculars. I spoke to the owner of the vehicle this morning. I wonder how long it will take for the police to follow up on it. Police followed up on it last night 3 hours after we contacted them they were at my place. Our local station isn't maned after 5pm, they had to travel about 60K's It's great to hear police are taking reports of dog theft seriously. So often I have heard of them fobbing people off over dogs over the years.

Google tells me how to do it, and I can even buy an e-book or 10 on puppy farming peddling expertise and all. Personally whelping pups would freak me out, i'le leave it to the eggsperts. Pun intended.

Don't know about NZ but Aus yes they can own animals even if they have been banned by a court of law, it just goes in someone else's name. Welcome to the real world, not the world of a paper trail. I cant believe Dolers with all the masses of info at hand can portray to be so worldly and just yet be so naive at the same time. .

I think the activists mostly put up very valid arguments to which policy makers just can't seem to acknowledge, such as simply define a pit bull, it's been 21 years and they haven't come up with an answer yet.
-
Yep the authorities need to get in the inner circle of this group if that's what is going on, such as they busted that group over in Europe not so long ago, it had taken a couple years for him to build trust up and had to endure horrific scenes of animal cruelty but at lest one circle was shut down, Someone with some stones needs to just do it.

With so many 'experts' and no doubt many are in days of yore, then the acolytes of them copying each other on dog training, management, behaviour, nutrition, husbandry, etc etc all seeming at odds with each other, where does the truth lie, the middle ground? What is that called when one system say promotion of an alpha roll ( which I personally think is brain dead and archaic )is competing with a positive reinforcement clicker training. When one system calls the other bullshit and defunct they themselves will soon be replaced by the next big thing.

TBH looking at the Vic standards of APBT ID which mentions no x's in any part of it, I don't think its about apbt at all, only in a lip service, which has so far netted no results of verified APBT dogs, what my eyes see is actual amstaffs who don't have paperwork, I mean just compare the Vic standard to the ANKC standard pictorial, it is absolutely identical. Just look at it. That and multi mix breed mutts of no APBT heritage. Tragic Victoria. Hang your head in shame.

Can't help but wonder how many posters in here eat a strictly paleo diet, what we as a species evolved on, agricultural diet, what we evolved towards, or an industrial food stuffs diet, what we settled for. Or a mix of all 3 LOL. Let your dog decide. Dogs know best for dogs, just open your eyes to them..

The way I see it BSL as a solution to dog bite and attacks by a race of canine, is a simpelton idiots view to solving a problem steeped in the belief of emotional reaction with payed lip service, not with a genuine concern for the community in general nor an animals welfare at heart. Canine mismanagement by a very few people comparatively compared to actual dog numbers of a breed owned buy knowledgeable dog savvy responsible people, is not a justification. Of course one can not dismiss a complete lack of enforcement of practical animal husbandry and management practices at a local and community social level. If BSL is a solution it means this solution is sold by nothing more than snake oil salesmen, and does not work on a symptom at all. If governments local state or federal were genuinely concerned they would look at the cause to treat a symptom such is done in medicine, it is glaringly obvious to all but a simpelton kow tower what that cause of the symptom is. Lets try and get the laws right next vote. Because lets face it, it's mostly dogs innocent of any actual "penalty unit" incursion paying the high price of incarceration and death. I know most in the non dog owning population don't give a flying capital F about it, but they should. They have to live in the world they create. And dog lovers supporting it well what can I say, you are not a dog lover. It's as Simple as that. J.

what makes them trendy? Good on you dogmad!
