Well I have seen bust ups of franchises, many independents set up afterwards and do very well as independents, I am part owned in a franchise that went belly up 7 years ago. ( not pet store related ) and we just re branded and went great guns. Think Kwik Kerb before it was Kwik Kerb. we were certainly not the first franchise of that lol.

No, I don't think so. I don't think you should be. But you is you, and you can be if you want to be. But I wouldn't be. You is you, and me is me.

No idea, I was wanting pics of a spring thing rolling down stairs and a dog following in the same position!. Both look pretty cool to me, wet noses all round. J.

No one knows why it happened, everything is hyperbole, I hope to god the owners don't start commenting to the media, they have all ready put out immense remorse about it, nothing can bring the kid back, no words can console, It happened that's that, it will continue to happen from time to time even if they ramp up the laws a thousand fold from what they have done. Stuff happens whether it's preventable or not, I know for a fact Australia as a nation will never be some sort of pure breed dog utopia. far out do people actually live with there heads so far in the clouds over that? I really don't know whether to laugh unknown if there's some sort of seriousness in that speak or to just feel really sad about the innocence of it.

Ya know I would love to see a serious journo actually do some fair dinkum journalist work on it. And actually put it out there what is going on, because if they are quoting dipshits like peter walsh he may very well have his head up his clacker over the dog that prompted this law. because the truth will come out very soon over breed. Your Choice If Only These Available?
GeckoTree replied to kja's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
I'd flip a coin on them 4, If I had to only those options, I would probably rotate all of them options. -
Since I found out it was Animal lib NSW directly involved with the 7:30 show editing material and it was not a genuine attempt in showcasing Pig dogging in Australia by it's reporter, ' No mention of the Mackay showcase donating all funds raised by its event to a local school and to a muscular dystrophy foundation. This show has absolutely no validity in my eyes. On any story hence forth. J.

Hey mate, don't be hesitant in looking away from your locality of Brisbane, if you just look local you seriously limit yourself to breeders with the AST DOL lists a shed load of AST breeders, just go through them inch by inch and you will soon sort the chaf from the hay. best of luck. Another J.

http://www.heraldsun...x-1226431214225 THE Government is losing the legal dogfight to rid Victoria of pit bulls. Councils have been beaten in more than half of appeals by owners trying to save their pets. About 150 pit bulls have been put down since "restricted breed" laws were introduced last September, and another 20 are in pounds awaiting destruction, a source told the Herald Sun. Despite a moral objection to destroying pit bulls - it "should be the deed of the dog and not the breed of the dog" - the RSPCA, which refuses to give evidence at appeals, is being attacked by angry owners for putting down some of the animals. Animal services manager Helen Cocks said the society opposed "breed-specific legislation". "It is extremely sad that dogs that are deemed to meet these new breed standards under the law, but would otherwise be good canine citizens, may be put to sleep," she said. Some vets have refused to destroy dogs on the grounds of breed alone, Australian Veterinary Association Victorian president Dr Susan Maastricht said. Editorial: Tighten leash on these dogs VCAT hearings have led to Facebook threats against council animal inspectors and a vow by one senior vet to never again give evidence. A four to six-month delay in the VCAT process forces councils to spend $27.50 a day to keep animals on death row, adding up to $3000-$5000 a dog. Councils seeking to destroy dogs they assess as pit bulls have lost six of 11 VCAT appeals. Councils rely on physical measurements, leading to a contest between expert evidence from both sides. "Pit bulls and pit bull-type dogs have lost their right to exist in Victoria," Agriculture Minister Peter Walsh said. "We make no apology for the tough actions we have taken to protect Victorians, particularly children, from attacks like the one that tragically killed Ayen Chol (the four-year-old whose death last August helped prompt the new laws)." American Pit Bull Terrier Club of Australia secretary Bonnie Norton said neighbours were phoning the dangerous dogs hotline, resulting in councils searching properties. "They are coming out and taking much-loved family pets that have done nothing wrong," she said. <br class="Apple-interchange-newline"> And the opinion editorial below LAWS condemning pit bull and pit bull-crosses have come rushing back to bite the Baillieu Government. People who love their dogs are defending them in court and winning more cases than they are losing. The Government must therefore redraft what is difficult, but necessary, legislation. No one can argue against the need to safeguard the public from dangerous dogs, such as the pit bull-cross that killed four-year-old Ayen Chol last year. The dog ran into the family home and mauled the girl in front of her horrified mother. The attack followed other incidents involving pit bull and pit bull-crosses, but the same problem that prevented such dogs from being put down then is again preventing successful prosecutions against their owners. When is a pit bull a pit bull? Owners argued their dogs were more cross than pit bull, and attempts to set new standards to identify the dogs are failing. Dog owners, are often incensed at the actions of council inspectors who have seized dogs they suspect of being pit bulls. The owners have argued successfully at the Victorian Civil and Administrative Tribunal to save them. Some vets, unwilling to destroy healthy dogs, are refusing to carry out council orders. Restricted breed laws have seen some 150 dogs put down, with perhaps 20 still on council pound "death rows". Owners argue it should be "the deed of the dog, not the breed of the dog" that determines their fate. This is the sort of emotional language that inevitably surrounds cases involving a much-loved family pet, a dog used for hunting or one kept because its owners like fierce and intimidating dogs. The flaw in the deed-versus-breed argument is that someone has to be savaged or threatened by a dog in front of witnesses before authorities can act. The Government needs to jerk their leash. Tighten the law and get rid of dogs that in rare cases kill, but often maim. There is no moral argument for keeping them. I am sorry but I just think Victoria is run buy a bunch of people who in days past would have been placed in a mental institution.

Is There Any Things Said About Your Breed...
GeckoTree replied to Baileys mum's topic in General Dog Discussion
No, dingo mixes aren't the devil dog of Dracula's castle. They are just a dog. -
Ewww another feral assaulting someone with dog faeces great!

Theres definitely sickoes about, that is nothing to do with pig hunting, they were penned/ trapped and dogs encouraged to attack. It's an animal cruelty issue, not a pig hunting with dogs issue. This is where they 7:30 show blurred the line.

Puppy Skipped 2nd And 3rd Vaccinations
GeckoTree replied to ChewieTAG's topic in Health / Nutrition / Grooming
Interesting reading, I know people with dogs who have only had the very young puppy vaccination and some not at all, whose dogs are now very elderly. My dog was only vaccinated once when I acquired her at a guestimate of 12 months old during her vet check. I was never asked to come back. I doubt very much she was vaccinated or even wormed before, being a nobodies fend for herself dog and all. -
Enzymes probably, my dog seeks out possum crap like it is a delicacy.

I wonder if everyone needded a permit to pig hunt whether some of the 'cowboys' would be reduced. Or whether it would just be impossible to regulate anyway. Pig hunting is pretty big around here, but there are no state forests here at all that I know of. So I'm sure it would nearly all be done on private property. It would have to be better than banning It may be reduced, I don't think the 'cowboys' would grow in numbers if that were the case though, people need permission from the land owner to hunt private property otherwise it's a crime, permits and licences can be revoked if the person is found to break the agreement of the permit or licence. In the case for across the board permits if everyone had to hold a permit the land owner would need to see a valid permit before access is granted. As an outsider looking in, it looks to me like a momentum is building to ban it in public lands though.
-
I think to hunt state forest a permit is pretty much mandatory.

My dog's a mud blood, not a race so no questions about it's race being good with children or not have come up. I have only been asked twice if my dog's good with kids, both times my response was somewhere along the lines of i guess it depends how good your children are with dogs. A couple nods and a confused grin and that's pretty much the end of that question.

So I watched it, I still can't work out what 7:30 were trying to convey? It seemed 2 things were balled into one with a highlight on animal cruelty from the numpty youtube posters, which most people would only remember of the show as it is shocking to see. The end message seemed to be ban dogging with Clover Moore crying, yet offered no analysis of the overall effectiveness in using dogs in pig control. Since the use of dogs, turned into sport, which turned into an industry seems so big instead of banning perhaps the government can look for ways to accredit pig doggers and crack down on people doing the wrong thing when hunting.

The good thing about being shocked and surprised is now you wont be in the future, kuddos for asking for a pat first, many people don't.

My internal yard is a 1/4 acre yard comprised of dog mesh wire stapled onto posts and top rails which are 100 mill round koppers logs. Painted with loverrrly mission brown post paint. About 1/4 of this yard, the bottom half, is still star pickets with the wire cable ties tied onto it as I simply replace the pickets with posts and rails as time goes by. I have been a lazy bugger though so not much has happened in a looong time. Cost wise very cheap, and bit by bit is easily budgeted. Also very secure but I don't have crazy animals rubbing themselves onto it. J.

An Opinion Article On Dogs From Adelaide Advertiser
GeckoTree replied to sausy.dog's topic in In The News
She writes to get paid folks, who cares it's an opinion piece and many people have opinions. It does read like she had some pent up sausage rage issues going on though. -
What a disgusting vile person.

Is there a news interview of this guy apart from the Sunrise one and the NSW whoever guy going on about little check chains and Victoria's psychopathic by the very dictionary definition, *cough'* Deed not breed B.S.. I'd like to view. Sounds like a prime candidate for S.A law reform without breed involved to me.

I think those flexy paracord leads are rotten things Lol. I saw a dog run full pelt to the end of one and shanghai Itself in the back of the head as the owner didn't have a strong enough grip, not to mention tying peoples legs up ninja style. Just my observation. I'm sure many don't have an issue using them though. I actually bought one once when I first had my dog, but the handle split apart in about 3 weeks. What a dud contraption! Solid leads all the way from then on.
