Just wanted to say .... good post, megan_ ... and a great example of the kind of thing that can escalate between two otherwise happy and friendly and sociable dogs.
-
Long distance positive vibes for you and Toby RV. Hope he's doing better this morning, and that the specialist can help.

The dogs and I were over in Vicotria trialling a week ago. We had a lovely stay at Eagle Point Cottages located between Bairnsdale and Paynesville. Dogs are welcome inside - just not on beds or furniture. What a wonderful place - two new cottages, beautifully designed and appointed - set in large fenced yard (fences about 1 metre high - wouldn't suit a jumper, but chicken wired at bottom. There is a large garden area with attractive trees surrounding the cottages - so fine for leash walking as well. The whole setting was calm and restful. Highly recommended .

And another little brag for the senior citizens - 8 runs, 2 DQs - my fault - 3 Qs - Masters Agility and Jumping and Open Jumping. Good little girlie. I'm so happy that she's loving her runs still, working really nicely, and has pulled up completely fine this morning. Oh - and she only had to nip me once for bad handling -I must be improving.

Oops...double post.

My order #1 has arrived! The soft bite frisbee is a HUUUGE hit with Mr Rory, flies really well, and lovely and soft on his teeth. And Kirra quite likes her little Kong Wubba ballistic hippo. -
He achieved JDM title, 3 passes to each of his ADO and JDO titles, qualified for the finals at the nationals in master agility, RA title, Neuter Champion title and still no luck with UD (any passes)! Not a bad year! We didn't do herding either, so that makes the PT a little hard Kinta gave me some lovely fat healthy babes who are making their new owners very happy, she ran very well at the nationals, we changed our agility plans and she is now heading to her AG Ch and is well on her way. She gained her RN and RA titles, and has 6 legs to her ADM title with one more trial left in the year. Again, no herding for the miss! My dad did a few trials with Zara this year and they are starting to have lots of fun. Babies on the way, and unfortunately no herding for her either! Bug has 2 legs to her JD title with one trial left. No competition in the Rally or herding stakes so those points are moot . So proud of my kids this year! And so you should be - they've done sooooo well. And the handsome and talented Mr Leo is still as handsome and talented as ever - was so nice to see him working at the weekend - and they don't call UD Futility Dog for nothing :D .

Yay, Kavik and murve. You guys should both be pelased with your achievements - and the kids' achievements of course. That 3 in a day was a blast, wasn't it murve. Kirra needed 2 Excellent passes for RE - and got them in the first 2 trials on the Saturday. I'm too chicken/lazy to set training goals. But it is nice to look back nearly at the end of the year and savour the journey. Kirra - aged 10.75 years - has finished 9 titles this year .. JDM2, ADM3, and ADO4 - the last two finished less than a month ago. TSD - early October RN, RA and now RE and not forgetting DWDF.S and HTM.S  Lil big man Rory was not far behind, with 7 DWDF.S and HTM.STDX RN, RA and RE (and half of RAE - thanks Bairnsdale and Gippsland for the weekend of trials and the opportunity to knock off the 5 legs in one weekend :D ) and CD - also finished courtesy of Bairnsdale (and murve's lovely Orlando, who with his lovely calm vibes was next to Rory in the stay line up - and thanks to murve who took the time and trouble to let Rory get used to Orlando before stays - that was very much appreciated. ) Can you tell I'm just a little bit proud of my kids - and extremely grateful to our friends, training partners and mentors.

LOL ...finally got in here .. Long trip "home" to our lovely dog friendly accommodation. Was so nice to meet so many DOLers ..and be able to share successes and um less than successes. Long hot day at Morwell. Lovely proper, but the rings were horrible underfoot..very uneven..holes everywhere .. consequence of wet winter. Anyway I gave Kirra a day off to concentrate on Rory ..who now has 5 RAE legs. Good not ..and he got better as the day wore on, in spite of the sun and heat..cool coats worked hard :-). I did hoods individual work in Novice, to take advantage of a ring with other classes either aside, but pulled him from stays..partly because of the other dogs, but mainly because I would have been setting him up to go down in the sit stay..too hot for a black dog. He worked pretty well..would have had a 180 I think ... Maybe 183 ... In the morning, and 188 afternoon ..winning the ring both times. Rubbernecking again :-). Travelling day again tomorrow .. but I've booked a swim for them middle of the day. :-)
-
LOL .. Well the celebrations are actually in Victoria ..and moderated by the fact that I have a very early stat and a 2 hour drive tomorrow to the next trial a :-) .. but yes.. my dear lil big man finished his CD title today at Bairnsdale! And got 3 legs toward his RAE. And the feral one managed to get the 2 passes she needed for her Excellent Rally title ...and finished a huge day with 2nd places NQ though lol in Masters and Open Jumping. Card and ribbons everywhere :-).

High Potential Dogs In Low Potential Homes
Tassie replied to Lollipup's topic in Training / Obedience / Dog Sports
I used to apologise to Kirra's breeder because she had given me a potentially awesome agility girl and I couldn't live up to her potential :-). Her wise response was that the dog didn't case about ribbons or titles ... she just loved having fun with me. I always treasure those words. And my little girl is still having fun at nearly 11, and titles as a bonus. But first and foremost my dogs realise their potential as pets and companions who dabble in lots of sports. :-) -

I was  - I blame you - was it your suggestions abouit toys for prizes - or someone on the FB Rally list - so shopping for the dog club, mostly  -
My two have a selection of cool coats - including the Saratoga one that ness mentioned - pretty good, silver mesh - OK - Hyperkewl - OK - but I must say, I keep coming back to the Silver Eagle coats - easy to use, comfortable, and seem effective. Used one on my BC at a trial on Saturday/ There is a chamois version of the Champions/Silver Eagle type coats - show supplies people might have them - seemed quite effective too.

Nope, those are one of the things that sold out within a couple of days and there will be no more coming from the manufacturer, either. Which explains why they weren't there when I went looking just now -

Mine has made it to Australia today - yay - now see how long it takes to get down here . Who nbeeeds Christmas when we can get so excited about these parcels  . -
Snooza futons are good - but the big hit in my household is the Snooza Cuddler - Getting good value from this as Kirra sleeps in it every night - she likes to rest her chin up on things, so the higher walls suit her - and then the BC cat often spends her day in the Cuddler. Rory occasionally gets to use it, when Kirra kicks him out of his PP crate when she feels like using it . Mind you - my animals are not bed destroyers.

Looove it! Min is still in NY - but it was later being shipped because of the no ballistics. Not really a drama, since I still have 'leftovers' from last year's big order, and another free shipping order earlier in the year. -
Sounds like things are going really well for you DiscoDobe. Can only imagine your back with putting down all that food. I don't teach footsetep tracking (we're not required to do it, although people can if they want to), so I only have to bend down when I put down an article (there's food tucked into that). Rory got his TDX title at the last tracking trial of the year at the end of September - tracking in a boggy cow paddock with some standing water, and a flukey wind - not pretty - but good enough. So next year he'll be doing hi s Test 7 for Tracking Champion. 1200 metres, 90 - 180 minutes delay, blind start. My agility girl Kirra got her Track & Search Dog title the first weekend in October - she did a nice job of her track - although I had to re-scent her after we had an encounter at a crossroads of tracks with an off lead poodle (pleasant - but got in Kirra's face, which she doesn't like) and a couple of peopl going in opposite directions on a track which crossed where we needed to go. Other than that she was motoring for the whole 100 metres. No tracking training here for the moment - concentrating on Rally O, obedience and agility. And the snakes are out! You're so lucky over there to be able to train year round. We can't do anything in forested or paddock areas now until about April. Luckily, since I'm training Track & Search as well, I can train on some open public land near the centre of the city, which has some bush, some long grass, and some shorter grass - and lots of diversion tracks as it's a popular area with people and dog-walkers ... and no snakes have been seen there for at least 20 years :D .

bedazzled. Actually apart from serious OOS stays, which we haven'[t done because of the reactivity thing - though have done informally when he's on his own, the only open exercise he can't do yet is DOR - but I do lots of playing Sue H's drop food game, and we do informal remote drops often - sometimes rewarded in position, sometimes I call him in - but so far haven't put the drop into a formal recall - time enough for that - he won't be in Open till next year anyway, because of the trial calendar. Title next trial - doubt it - next ones are next weeked in Vic - so, strange dogs - will probably chicken out of stays, depending on the other dogs. Much rather be safe than sorry. But I'm just totally stoked that his ring work has ben consistently high standard thte lasst few trial. :D (Well, if you don't count the raindrop catching one - that was still good in between the raindrop catching - and I blame winpara for that - it's genetic - she posted that vid clip of his mother, sister and aunty all doing it ) Thanks, Ptolomy - you know how much we owe you. Your other distance ed students did some great work too. :D

Lots of champagne around this weekend I reckon. TSD - fantastic work by you and the Zigster. And I LOVE the look not only on Ziggy's face, but on Noeline's - reckon it was all she could do to not take it from him. :) . Bedazzledx2 - really sounds like pennies are dropping for the handsome and talented one with UDX - yes it could go to rubbish - but at least you know now that it's in there well and truly. Good weekend for me and the kids too. Rally trial yesterday - the feral Kirra bombed - failed invidual passed Honour in the am trial, then passed individul, failed Honour in the afternoon - but we had fun (memo to self, do not have an acupuncture treatment done on her the day before a Rally trial - she was waaaaay too hyper - she still needs two Excellent passes, but she's doing Ok for a girlie who doesnt DO obedience. But my lil big man did me proud. - Finished his Excellent Rally title on Saturday with a pass to spare - not his best work - but hey - a pass is a pass. And then he backed up today with two lovely rounds in Novice obedience - 30 seconds away from finishing his title - stoopid sit stay in the am trial - and he was on a 195. But he redeemed himself in the pm trial with a ring winning 197. Lost 3 points in heeling - a few out of positions - and everything else was, if I say it myself, super and the whole ring work was happy happy prancy stuff. I want to say a huge thank you to all the gurus (especially the WA gurus here) who have nspired us and helped us.

I'm so very sorry to hear that your little man didn't make it ... but you did all you could to give him a chance at a good quality of life. You know that you've got a supportive community here feeling some of your pain.
