  1. Congrats to Grace and her Cash - commiserations to you. Next year! :D
  2. Me too! Or maybe I don't - that's when I spend too much I think the feeding frenzy from Oz a couple of years ago scared them off doing that again .. we did go slightly OTT, didn't we :D . Friend here just got her toys today - so maybe mine aren't too far away. :)
  3. Agree - way too long for puppy to be left in a crate. Puppy play pen is the go - either outside as raineth suggests, or maybe better for such a wee baby, inside - on hard flooring preferably - with newspapers down - and maybe pee pads as ell if you'd like - if pup is not a shredder. A non-spill water bowl, and crate or bed in one corner. You should find all you need at PetBarn or something similar. :D And do we get to see puppy pics, please? :)
  4. If you're looking in endicia (link will be on your USPS shipping notice - to get the latest update, click on the shipping information tab. Mine went through NY on September 4, and through a facility in Australia yesterday morning ... will probably take another few days to reach the Apple Isle
  5. I'd check with your breeder - different breeders have different preferences. My BC boy came on large breed puppy - but to be switched to a medium level adult food at 14 weeks. His breeder has found that her dogs do better on that sort of regime. In general males will be somewhat stockier than females - as in usually will have heavier bone, vroader skulls etc. At your pup's age, I'd be starting to look towards keeping him leaner - especially if performance sports are in his future. And subject to what your breeder says, I would be switching him over to an adult kibble (over a week or two). I woiuld also be keeping an eye on his weight - he can afford to lose any puppy chubbiness now - you should be able to feel ribs when you place your palms on his back - pointing towards his tail - thumbs either side of his spine. The ribs should be fairly easily felt - think of running your fingers over the back of yor hand - there is covering over the bones, but you can feel them easily.
  6. Well done both pirate and Rantino. Was a good year for quite a few DOLers I think. We still have 2 Track & Search trials to go.
  7. Ummm - more than I should have  - that's all I'm going to say .. but hey - what am I working for. Waiting for the parcel - it's on its way :)
  8. Oh that's good news. It's always hard to know what they'll be like - different dogs react differently to the anaesthetic and surgery - check if she's been given a painkilling injection like metacam - some vets routinely give that after desexing. You probably don't want to know that years ago when my feral agility girl was desexed the same day as my boy I had then (7 and 9 months respectively) - not only did they bounce back really well, but the very next day, they both escaped through quite a small hole in the fence to go 100 metres down the internal road to the street (thankfully not a through street then) where they'd heard some kids playing cricket. I was really lucky in that the kids were dog savvy, went home and got leads for them, then their mum called the phone number of the vet - was on their collars tags. Not all vets routinely use the 'clown collars' - depends on whether the dog is leaving stitches alone. Enjoy having her back home again :D ETF typo
  9. My previous dogs used to get a yummy bone whenever I went to work - they hated the holidays . But yes - totally agree about leaving him with something special that will take a while to get through - bone, or frozen Kong in summer. Hope all goes well with Juno today. And just want to say well done to you and the BF for staying focussed on what is best for your gorgeous girl.
  10. what a hard day for you all - but take comfort in that you tried all you could and that Joey had the best care any dog could have. Sending comforting thoughts.
  11. My feral agility girl Kirra highly recommends Rally - she has done pretty well for a girl who doesn't believe in obedience - still has 3 double Qs to go to get RAE - but she's having a blast doing it. Agility people definitely have an advantage when it comes to course walking in Rally, and the teamwork involved is a nice fit with agility. The way things are at the moment, you don't have to be too precise to pass, but you can work for perfection if you want to. i don't think Kirra would have the patience for Nosework - but she loves tracking - it is time consuming though, and more demanding physically on the dogs - and harder for someone with a little person in tow.
  12. Congratulations luckypup. What a very special award to have won - and how appropriate that the award in Buddy's memory was won by a DOLer. :) ETF typo
  13. So sorry you're having such a rough time. Whatever happens, you'll know you've done all you could for your lovely Joey. All dogs should be do loved and cared for. Cyber hugs coming your way.
  14. What a super year of achievements for your family!
  15. Nice one pie (and Mr pie :D ). Probably the important things are course walking and analysis, working out where he needs to be (or be heading for), acceleration/deceleration, identifying dog's commitment point so his cues can be fairly timely, keep an eye on the dog, set the line ... oh and the Stacey Peardot Goudy one - don't be frantic - no need for 2 frantic 'people' out there ......... oh wait ... this is my to do list ... well - might help anyway.
  16. That was a good day at the office for you and Elsie, DD - it's lovely when the work pays off. And you and the girls never cease to amaze me xena98 - you guys just keep on demonstrating the benefits of a great training relationship - and the versatility that good foundations can bring. And Gabby - if you can get that sort of score in UDX in a mock trial, you can do it in the real thing - tell your mother just to trust you!!!
  17. CC, that is wonderful news - so very pleased for you and the beautiful and talented Roxy. And I do hope she enjoyed her very special celebration dinner. Wish I'd been there to see the success - I just love watching you and the girls work.
  18. OK - I'm such sa pushover with free shipping - order sent Thanks sheena ... I think
  19. Bit far away for me ... and I work Tuesdays ..but I just wanted to day I think it's a great idea :-)
  20. I see the Moe Strenfell one is there. It's been around for a while, but I really like it. Free shipping makes it worth getting imho. :-)
  21. OSo - you just couldn't help yourself, could you :) . Some good stuff there - and even with the lower dollar, with free shipping it's still good value. Nice price on the Rapid Rewards treat pouch. Had to laugh to see Kangaroo treats in there - wonder if they'd be allowed in ETF typo and to ask - presumably those bunny fur things can get in OK, as I've bought them in Oz. Anyone had any trouble with them coming through?
  22. Good reminder, AD. People tend to forget about, or underestimate, the importance of jump training. Doesn't mean you'll never have a bar down - but it certainly minimises the risk - apart from being a good conditioner. ETF typo - 'cos I invented a new word "pimportance"
